I DIY'd my save the dates. (boarding passes) They were about $225 for 100 of them. I used Papel Vivo - Hand made Paper and Wedding Invitations: Index for my invitations (custom design). I think that they were around $1050 for 150 invitations - they are the Costa Rica invitation on her site. (OUCH... didn't realize I had spent that much!) I spent around $200 for calligraphy. (Pretty Pen Jen Calligraphy) Shower TY cards were $65ish (They were a really cute "gracias" design from :: SheSaidYesAnnouncements.com :: Photo Save the Dates & Wedding Announcements :: Shower Invitations :: And More! ::) and wedding TY cards were $100ish (just ordered these too from Wedding Invitations, Bridal Shower Invitations, Wedding Stationery, Thank You Cards, Wedding Shower Invitations) So total stationery budget was around $1700. YIKES!!!

I would do the dance with your dad. You only have one chance. Can you & Aaron do a first dance and just have your family/bridal party join in after a minute? Then you can do your father/daughter immediately after and make that it.

Passport Hell, part II (LONG)
NABUMBAH replied to TammyB's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I am so sorry to hear about your drama. The passport offices are a complete clusterf*ck from what I have heard. My SIL stood in line ALL day the day before she left for her passport and they wanted her to come back the next morning (her flight left at noon and they wanted her to swing on by the pp office on her way to the apt) she told them HELL NO. seriously I don't know what their problem is but it sucks. sorry. -
Congratulations, Sarah ! Have a fabulous day!

Traveling with the Decorations?!
NABUMBAH replied to Martha's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We had a ton of stuff that we brought down. We each had one piece of luggage with clothes, and one full of wedding crap (DH used his golf bag and filled it with our OOT bag stuff. My mom had a suitcase with our tablecloths, the ribbon for the tables, and the fabric for the arch, my dad brought 2 of our cases of wine, etc, etc. I think we had at least 8 bags/boxes of wedding crap. That's why I would recommend to other brides to not go overboard with DIY stuff. Just bring down what is absolutely necessary. -

Hi Amy, we did our slideshow on the beach. We created it using Microsoft Photostroy (Highly rec this program!). My stepdad owned a projector that we used and my SIL/BIL lent us their speakers. We rented a screen for $200. It was really windy and someone had to stand behind the screen during the slideshow to make sure that it would not blow over. I have no idea if wind will be a factor in PV but it was for us. I am sure that this is entirely do-able but you may want to consider the amount of work/time it will take to put it together and bring it vs. your time there. I guarantee you that once you get there for your wedding, the last thing that you're going to want to do is spend a bunch of time finishing DIY stuff. just some food for thought. The slideshow was a ton of fun though I am so glad that we did it!

Fiesta Americana - planning help needed!
NABUMBAH replied to fogdog's topic in Cabo Accommodation & Site
I would not commit to anything until you have your pricing squared away for the actual event. You definitely don't want to get locked into a location if you can't afford to have the wedding that you want there. I think that Jak27 (?) is getting married at the FA - maybe you can ask her? -

Neysa was one of the stylists that did our hair & makeup for my wedding. She did a great job. Neysa, Bambi and one other stylist came to our hotel. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, I am really suprised that you did not like them. We hired the Twins for our wedding and they were AWESOME... seriously made the party. Our dance floor was completely packed the whole night. and $3500 for 4 hours seems ridiculous. We paid $500/hr fo 3 hours + some extra fees for staging and because we rented some other sound equip from them. I think that the total as $2k. I am sorry to hear that you had such a mediocre experience with them since ours was so great. In my opinion, they were worth every penny, and I would absolutely recommend them.

I am not sure who they used, but at my wedding my cousin and his wife hired a babysitter for their son. Have you asked Armando, or your coordinator?

I am sorry, I have no idea. I think it's pretty close to downtown, and the property is really new. I am sure that you will be fine!

my dad and a bunch of his crew stayed there for my wedding. They really liked it. I guess that there was a mix-up with their room so when they arrived, they were upgraded to a 3k sq ft penthouse. I heard it was amazing. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to ask them.

Wow, those are stunning. seriously. thanks for sharing.

Jill, Can I ask - how many guests do you expect? Just asking because when I was planning there was a bride who considered full CaboMax but ended up just using the Twins with a group of 60ish. I went by her recommendation and used just the Twins for my 130ish group and they were great and perfectly sufficent for our group. In fact, I think that the full band would be overkill. and yes, Christa is right. They were $500/hr + some extra fees. I think total was around $2k for 3 hours.
