JPMO Jenetta's Dreams Wedding Review

Wow Janetta! You really did think of everything! ...golf shirts....what a great idea! I can't wait to see more wedding pictures!!! -
Janet ~ I'm in the mortgage business. About the points, you might want to consider paying one. A zero point loan carries a higher interest rate. The point cost allows you to buy down the interest rate, and since your buying your home as your primary residence, you should be able to write off (deduct from your taxes) the points that you pay on the mortgage at the time of purchase. You'll also be able to deduct the property taxes and the interest that you pay on the loan....the point is considered interest on your tax return for the purchase of your primary residence. You want to look closely at your good faith estimate to see how many points you are paying and also look for a line called "yeild spread premium" or "rebate" ....these represent money paid to the loan officer/broker at the close of escrow from the investor...you will see these items if you choose a no point loan, as the loan officer/broker will be paid one way or another...either by you, through points or by the investor in the form of a rebate/yeild spread premium. I would advise you to pay a point since it will be tax deductable and will lower your interest rate and thus your mortgage payment...but, I'm not a CPA. Hope that helps a little.

Welcome Amanda and Congratulations!! As Janet mentioned, I just got married at the Sheraton last weekend. It was an amazing wedding ....so beautiful. I got married at the fiesta palapa (the gazebo you mentioned). My guests loved the resort. I had 55 guests, but originally expected 80. You shouldn't have a problem with a group of 30-100. don't know if you saw this thread yet, but here it is http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...a-del-mar.html lots of info on the sheraton. If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

Welcome Traci. I'm not familiar with Chicago. But, based on the numbers you mentioned, you looks like they are charging you between $70 and $90 a person for food. And, you want it down to $35 -40 per person. I really doubt that they will negotiate down that far. I got married in Cabo and for a buffet of fish, chicken, steak, shrimp and multiple salads, I was charged $65 a person (which was last years pricing). This year the price is $78/person. Have you called a few different places to compare prices? Maybe if you did you would have more info to negotiate with. Good luck! I think when caterers hear the word wedding, the price jumps up at least 50%.

Welcome Laurel! I just got married last week in Cabo at the Sheraton (not a villa). But, 2 days before my wedding I cut my hand really badly with knife while taking a pit out of an avocado. We called the front desk to ask if they had medical personnel who could help us. A few minutes later an ambulance showed up with 3 guys to take me to the emergency clinic. When we arrived at the clinic they took me right in and took fantastic care of me....I received 7 stiches, a tetnus shot, an antibiotic shot and perscriptions for antibotics and motrin. The medical attention was great. My brother also got sick. We called the hotel again and they sent a doctor out to our room to take care of him. It turned out to be the same doctor that helped me. I went back to see the doctor at the resort during business hours to have my wound cleaned and again he was so attentive and careful with me. In my opinion, the medical attention in Cabo is great. The gal who came to do my make-up, Suzanne Morel, also agreed that medical care down there was great. She said that the Mexicans really practice medicine with their heart. Anway, that is my experience with the Mexican medical facilities. BTW, the clinic I went to was Northwest Medical....they spoke perfect English there (I think it was near the Malia). There was also another medical clinic on the main drag in Cabo. hope this helps a little.

OOT Travel Troubles???
Jessalyn replied to LAUREN1980's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
they automatically searched my boxes too. They pulled out a cell phone and started calculating my receipts. My advice is to split up the goods between a few people and give them some receipts ...try not to have the receipts total more than $300 just to be safe. I didn't have receipts for everything, but I was fine. My dad had 2 boxes and I had 1 plus a large duffle. My brother had another large duffle. Everything made it through except the freeze dried rose petals....apparently, you can't bring them into the country. All three of us, my dad, my brother and myself had our bags searched without even pressing a button. It happend automatically after they x-rayed the bags. -
JPMO Jenetta's Dreams Wedding Review
Jessalyn replied to JPMO's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Janetta Congratulations!! Sounds like you had a fantastic wedding regardless of the little gliches (music, and room issues). I'm so happy for you. You looked amazing and I love the dress....so cool that you could have 2 dresses in one! Congrats again Mrs.!! Jill ~ We did a salad (quite a few....we had a buffet) and nobody got sick. BTW, The resort that we were at had all filtered water. -
Customs in Mexico - declaring wedding stuff
Jessalyn replied to PDCwedding's topic in Honeymoon Forum
I got stopped at Mexico customs. I didn't even get to press the red/green light button. They x-rayed my bags and then opened them. They wanted to see all of my receipts for everything. The guy started pulling out his cell phone and adding up my receipts. I didn't bring all the receipts and when he noticed that each receipt was for 8-10 dollars he let us go. My brother had one of my bags and didn't have receipts the guy gave him a hard time, but let him through. He had my freeze dried rose petals and those were taken away....can't bring real petals into the country. My dad was also asked for receipts. He had my vases and sand ceremony stuff. You should try to split up your stuff between a few people and make sure they have receipts that don't total more than $300. hope this helps. My experience was in Cabo last Monday. -
