  1. Hey Nicole thanks for sharing!!! You've got my RD dress... did I lose it to you on Ebay Unluckily for me I haven't been able to find it anywhere not even Blufly. I can't wait for the final product... we've been planning for so long now.
  2. Well we are doing a modified trash the dress session. Since my skirt is detachable I will get that wet and dirty then zip it off for the dancing portion of the reception. Photographer is really excited about that!
  3. That's good to know... especially since your room was next to the construction area. i wouldn't mind the construction either as long as it doesn't start really early or inhibit good photo taking locations. I can't wait to see the final product... Tammy can you take pics of a renovated room please? I heard June as well but maybe they are off schedule ...
  4. Anny- thanks for sharing. The favors looked great! So glad that you had a good time...
  5. Kinda late on this one... the table set up looks just fine. I really like how eclectic and romantic it is. I'd stagger (zig-zag) the votives and just keep it as is with the starfish. One posting mentioned the outer arrangments. I really like them and think that they are necessary since it adds another dimension to the table.
  6. While I don't think that a gift is necessary I do believe that a card/note is. I am having two showers; one hosted by former wedding party that can't make the trip and the second by FILs 1st. Will receive a Coach umbrella and shower gels, since the other BM are receiving Coach wristlets 2nd. Will receive personalized spa robes since they are older in age.
  7. That's adorable Amy... super creative!!!! I totally love the taco stand and how everyone was in Mexican attire. You guys looked like you had a blast. You have actually inspired me for a very informal AHR for our younger friends who couldn't afford to make the trip
  8. Hi ladies! I actually had a site visit last May and accomplished the following things: Site visit of 3 properties, interview of two coordinators, cake tasting (one vendor), floral visit (one vendor), dj introduction (one vendor), photographer (one vendor, ended up not using), videography (one vendor) and food tasting. Prior to our trip I had narrowed the ideal properties and received all wedding related info. I had composed a list of questions and build a relationship with the onsite coordinators. For the other vendors, they were selected by one of the WC but you could easily do that yourself in your hotel lobby. If you know who you want to use, schedule an appointment now. Read over the contract, see how professional they are, can you easily communicate with them. They should be willing to travel to you as well. One WC picked us up from the hotel and showed us around. When I returned home it was great since the major portion was done. I was able to work on details and decor elements. Only regrets, taking more pics of reception ceremony area from all possible angles. Also, not scouting more of the retail stores like Costco and the Super. I guess I really would like to know for mysself how hard candles are to get in Cabo! Good Luck!
  9. I plan to also pick a favortie photo or create a photo montage and send that out. A basic thank you is fine too, nothing fancy but I really like to have a pic whenever I receive a wedding thank you.

  11. Also check out knottie bio: The Knot Message Boards her bm used parasols without any floral at all. Very inspirtational for me since I am trying to cut out as much floral as possible.
  12. Someone mentioned size earlier... don't know how I missed this but I just measured the ones that I purchased from Hobby Lobby Closed from top to handle: 22in Opened the diameter is approx.: 32in F.Y.I. Hobby Lobby has then again this year and they are $2.50each. Colors orange, green, yellow, purple, and hot pink
  13. Interesting that you should ask since I hadn't thought of this at all. While I have included the kids in my attendee number, I haven't planned for them to sit at a different table. Nor have I arranged for a different meal. Irecently saw candy centerpieces for the kid's table that was cute. A cookie bouquet would be cute as well. It may not be necessary to do anything special either. How about coloring activities instead of menu cards. Etc. It seems like I covered everything but totall dropped the ball when it came to the kids. Keep me posted with your findings and I will do the same.

  16. There is a charge for "private dining" at the restaurant. Unfortunately, i can't recall the cost. You could take your chances by just inviteing guests down at a particular time but location of all tables cannot be guaranteed. I am hosting a welcome dinner on the beach with the Carribean menu and mexican decor. There is an additional charge of $22pp to set up this private area. If I didn't want food, or were looking to conserve costs I would totally ask guests to meet at the Lobby bar for drinks and arrange for chips/ guac. Basically, you can't really avoid a charge for a private function (of $22pp).
  17. I haven't read all of the responses but that appears to be a very limited selection. I personally am not a fan of the Tres Leche (sp) cake, when I tried it the consistency was soggy. I would assume it's always like that!? The Tres Leche cake can be found easily in the States so I would recommend trying it first. I do like cheesecake so taht would be my vote or forgo teh cake all together. Good Luck!
  18. AWESOME Christa! As always you kept me laughing through out your review. Cabo definately has some great restaurants, I am so happy that you mentioned the names of a couple. Like you we are staying an extra week and our HM resort is non- AI so reasonable, good eats are important. I hope to get to Todos Santos as well! It seems like a wonderful experience and relaxing way to just explore. FI wants to explore San Jose as well. Trust that many of your suggestions will make it on our to do list.
  19. Kassia, I completely understand! But trust it's only as stressful as you make it. As a bride, we often read way to many magazines or wrap ourselves around ideas. Your wedding can be as simple or as elaborate as you'd like. Hint: more elaborate equals more stressful. I am a Dreams bride, however I am working soley with Mariana. you are now approaching teh busy season so response time will likely lack but three weeks is unexcusable. Don't be afrid to call the resort, follow up with an email stating your desires and expectations. Both suggestions will set the tone of you and your working relationship with the property. See my specific responses below: 1) Do you have to sign some sort of contract at Dreams to save your date? Yesica said we're all set for December 20th, but then I get no response when I ask how to sign a contract or put down a deposit. Do you have to have your deposit in, and will my date be reserved with out these things?? It makes me worried! My date was saved via Dreams without a deposit for about 4 weeks. Once I had a group room agreement and left the respected deposit with my travel agent we were definately confirmed. In the body of ALL of my emails I note the date, location, and our group name. That way there is never any confusion about which bride I am. I feel confident that Mariana knows exactly who I am, but I don't want there to be any confusion about my date. 2) I'm totally busy with school and have SOOO little time for planning. I have no idea what to even think about decorations at Dreams, menu's, site locations for a ceremony or dinner, and what to do in Cabo. Does any one have any quick responses on this?? Dreams decor items will definately suffice. You really don't have to source more. Many brides have used the white linens and vases available for rent. In addition, they also have colored runners. For locations, how many guests are you having? I decided on the Cascade Terrace since I liked the infiniti pool backdrop. The Oceana is great as well and by far more private. The dinner, you have plenty of time to decide. Visit www.loscabosguide.com for things to do. For our wedding we only planned golf and spa anything else is up to our guests. The concierge offers reasonalbe excursions so don't stress about this at all. 3) We have Juan Carlos Tapia booked for the date, a travel agent to arrange flights/reservations for guests, and I have ordered my dress. That's about it! Is there anything major I'm missing?? I would think STD's (save the dates) your guests need to know the dates and travel info. Lastly, I'd say don't take on too much! With josh and you being apart you need a mate who you can vent too at times. School is stressfull enough. This should definatley be a time that you enjoy. I'd like to suggest a company that I used olio.style - modern wedding invitations, stylish baby announcements, unique custom stationery , they are very reasonable and can create an overall look for you (std, invites, programs, menu cards). These are small touches to personalize your wedding without havign lots of DIY projects.
  20. Natasha, you were beautiful! Your wedding party, groom, and arch looked great. I am so delighted to know that your wedding exceeded your expectations. Can't wait to hear the details.
  21. Dee that's a great idea. Last year while on vacation, a husband and wife team told me they never travel without there bottle. The resort bars will fill that up instead of glasses... if you just tip. That's usually cost beneficial when it's non-AI
  22. Wow Christa your photos are really great... I love the black and whites. Congrats and I am so glad that you shared with us. Can't wait to see even more... I'm greedy.
  23. Welcome aboard Jessica. While I have never vacationed in St. Thomas I hear great things about the area. You are shure to have a wonderul time no matter how many guests saved for the special date. That's the one drawback about DW's but think about how much you'll save and the beautiful background of St. Thomas for your ceremony.
  24. Mishi I agree with all of the gals here... it's your wedding personalize it and choose whatever you'd like. The best weddings are those that reflect the personality of the bride and groom. Heck, my groom wanted to arrive on the song "pimpin all over the world" while we've tamed that selection it is still very individualistic. I am a firm believer that every wedding should be different! Select whatever you'd like so that you won't regret anything later. Good luck!
