  1. Currently, it's Never Felt this Way by Brian McKnight. Selecting songs has been an ongoing project. I keep changing my mind. FI wants to enter on a "special" song as well... Anyone's FI want a song other than what you had in mind?

We may not all be friends that meet up for drinks on the weekends, or chat it up at the water cooler at work, or have known eachother since middle school. But this forum has created a new kind of friendship for most of us that I dont think will ever be forgotton even after weddings come and go and babies and wedding anniverserys start to be the new "trend" of threads. I cant wait to see everyone grow in their marriages and look forward to a lot of new brides having a place to go for real information from real brides! I totally second that Jackie!
  3. Merryme- Congrats! I am so very happy to hear that everything turned out well. Isn't it funny how what you have imagined for so long in your head doesn't look as good in person, i.e. centerpieces. For me it was DIY pomeanders. Thanks for sharing granted that you are still on your HM. Can't wait to see more pics and hear a full review.
  4. I visited in May and stayed at PBSB and it was like that there as well. THe breeze was a bit much to handle but I reasoned that it was because we were in the mountain area and it's on the Pacific side. Fi enjoyed the breeze/sometimes major gusts but I was unpleasantly cold. All brides beware... most establishments will offer a blanket.

Ahhh! Its times like this I wish I was MS and could everything imaginable to do all me DIY stuff I will try Kinko's or Alphagraphics. Oliostyle also prints for $1 each invite, I'm not sure if that includes cutting. I haven't checked pricing yet for the other retailers. I know the feeling about MS, you start off with these grand ideas but time goes by so quickly and I am super critical of my work. I really had to learn to manage my expectations. What all would you like to DIY, if you don't mind me asking.
  6. No a knottie had started her own design business. She's super reasonable. I initially thought that I would do everything, but I don't have photoshop or any other fancy program. I've had a rough enough time finding clipart for another project. Anyway, oliostyle.com designed the layout and I will have them printed at kinkos or alphagraphics. I will cut and mount myself in a pocketfold.
  7. UPDATE: So it's official we've selected #2 This was FI's favorite as well as most of yours. My FI rarely has an opinion so of course it had to be what he decided. Once I receive, print and assemble I will post a pic. I am so excited, it was such a great value $65. w/o printing. One less thing to do... check! Thanks so much ladies; it's wonderful to have so many more eyes.
  8. I totally agree with everyone here... Jonathan you included. I selected 2k-5k since we are bringing our photographer down, but that was an unconventional deal. She's shooting the welcome dinner and wedding. To have that type of coverage from even a Cabo photographer would have been comparable in price. Truth of the matter, for all professional photographers, when I see rates starting at $2k+ I get a bit hesitent. As a bride you are conditioned to think that is such an insane markup on Wedding related items and this is no different. Even when I thought of a traditional wedding, I never imagined spending more than $3k. With photography and videography there is a very fine line between what is too much and what is reasonable. So it becomes a matter of defining that line. Jonathan, thanks so much for starting this thread. It's so interesting to read each opinion. What part of Michigan are you from? How'd you hear about the forum?

It seems that many of your budgets for photography is unusually low for destination weddings, which is why I was curious. Just a reminder that your photographs (along with your new spouse) is the only thing you are going to have to take with you from you wedding that wil last a lifetime. Flowers die, food is eaten, drinks are drank, but your photos will last forever. Keep that in mind when you are budgeting for your photography. Regards, Jonathan Jonathan, Hi there! I totally agree with Tammy's response but I 'd also like to mention that it's relatively hard to convince our FI's that we should spend 3-5k on photography. Especially when that is half of many brides budget. If you continue to read many posts, many past brides wish that they had taken more pics. I think that as time passes, photo budgets will soon increase, but initially the large price tag of a DW photographer is enough to give a bride a heart attack.
  10. Ok I need your true honest opinions...don't hold back. I was initially going to do DIY the invites 100% but decided to have this company design the layout. Tell me which one you like and ideally why... I prefer 1 and 2 over 3 thus far but I must have a brain fart since I can't be more specific about what really moves me. F.Y.I The inserts will be mounted in the paper-source diagonal pocketfold with a colored cardstock back. 11. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't have hired a coordinator. Yes I have event planning experience, yes I actually enjoy this but a day of coordiantor is all you need... that's not even a must. Baja is the most expensive of all coordinators, I am usung Sunset Weddings. They are ok thus far but not a true planner if you ask me. I will be more than happy to help you as well as the other brides. There is so much info here you can do it yourself... most people speak English there so it's not as intimidating.
  12. I requested this info. approx. 9 mnths. ago but this gives you an idea of Sunset Beach's offerings. The Pacifica has a slightly different menu and is also slightly cheaper. The Rose also a PB property but a different feel was the cheapest. The attachments are for Sunset Beach and Rose/Blanco plus a general info about weddings list. Hope it helps!!!
  13. I nominate Jackie (ryjaxs19)! Regardless of posting Jackie reads and chimes in offering advice and other words of encouragement, not just Riviera Maya brides She is consistently one of the first to welcome new members after they post She managed to still communicate with us when she should have been studying for finals!!! Lastly, because I was her SS
  14. Call me crazy but I had no idea that Dreams, like many Cabo resorts utilizes a portion of there resort for timeshares. This is actually huge since many guests, mine incuded, wanted to use there timeshares or exchange. This property in only offered through RCI, but is still AI. Dreams brides, this helps reduce the $80 day of fee for guests who don't stay on property! Beach Golf
  15. Welcome... prcing is so important for both you and your guests. The good thing is you've picked a destination that is relatively easy to get to and rather affordable to fly to. Remember no matter what resort you select, how early you send out STD some people will complain and not be able to afford the cost. Good luck
  16. Try using the glitter grass centerpiece as: guest book table/ program table alternate between flowers and glitter grass
  17. We're going to do it publicly. Basically, FI and I will give a short speech about how there marriages inspired us (grandfathers are dead), taught us about weathering the storm blah, blah. In leau of presenting my bouquet to a single lady, I am honored to share my bouquets with our grandmothers. I figured by this time, there won't be a dry eye in the place. I will have small bouquets made up instead of giving mine. They aren't supposed to take it on the plane with them so I am debating creating two in silk or just having them smuggle them back. How bad would it be if customs stopped two lil' old ladies?
  18. Welcome, glad you decided to join. I am also a Dreams bride and I agree with Tammy. Hosting your event elsewhere would defeat the purpose of selecting Dreams. Don't get me wrong it's a great property otherwise but it's the best deal ever for a reception. Many resorts will have you paying $60-$80 per plate not including a bar. Also, I know it may not seem like it now but the small items add up quickly. You'll be glad you didn't spend 60% of your budget on food for one day.
  19. Ok I have seen these before, often included in a seashell set. Yes, they are extremely fragile so I don't know how they would travel. If you could find a resin replica (maybe for a fish aquarium) or figure a way to transport it they would be a great addition.
  20. Maybe I've seen one, but didn't know the name. Can you include a pic? I don't know if I ever mentioned but Pier One had coral for the holidays. Check it out.

I was expecting 75 and Marianna never stated that it couldn't accomidate our guests. In this room you can party till 1am/2am.
  22. I would think that you can provided that you go to page layout, select envelope, and enter the dimensions. What program are you trying to use? Word, Publisher, Photoshop etc.
  23. I intend on using a welcome letter based upon Tammy's but I just created this for the planner. This is the first rough draft. I have also located the template ofr the cute little wedding day of timeline. When I find I will post the template. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...aytimeline.jpg Day of timeline-wedding.doc
