Never Get Married At Westin Grand Bahama Island Resort!!
JPMO replied to winterbride01's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Total Bummer... I am so sorry about your experience. Reading this candid review just reminds me that there are some resorts and staff that take our dollar for granted. Competely ignoring a request is completely out of line. Winterbride, did you at least get a discount on services or stay? Did you discuss with general manager? Sorry to hear about all of the bad customer service! Other DW Brides: 1. Take copies of emails 2. Ask questions multiple times if necessary. 3. Demand some recourse -

It's great to have you on board and active. Your pictures are beautiful, I look forward to your blog updates. Also, such a great love story between you and your husband. GO SPARTANS! -
Dreams' policy is 11 as well, so no it doesn't seem odd. I can understand as well since it is in an open air environment and there are actually guests of the hotel not there for our weddings (as if!). FI isn't too bothered about that, i was at first and contemplated getting one there meeting rooms for an after party. Instead we're going to funnel to the lobby bar if necessary. FI doesn't want to got to the city or anything. I trust that that day will be a really long day so 11/12am I'll be looking forward to it.

I have never been to Cancun but FI has. When I was looking for a resort I didn't want anything big or touristy (mega-chain). Cabo seemed to fit the bill and had a certain heir of sophistication. Cancun just makes me think of Spring Break and American Fast food chains. Keep in mind that I've never been there however so I could be completely wrong. Being in SF, Cabo still shouldn't be terribly expensive. We're in Chicago and guests are at 1000 for Thur. - Sun./Mon. which isn't bad for AI. If we had selected Cancun that 1000 would get them probably 5-7 days. What really helped me decided was the wealth of information about my desired areas. If it appeared that I could plan everything via web then I was good. Good luck!

There were very few things that I had to stand my ground about with my FI. Videography was one of them! And I won!!! Besides the fact that some key family members will be able to watch it when we return home, I WILL watch my video. Heck, I have actually watched the wedding of the demo disc couple several times (total wedding dork moment). Someone mentioned (sorry I forgot) that people often regret not having the video vs. regretting purchasing one and I totally agree. This is a moment that can never be recreated. I would opt to have the reception included but if it's not in the budget then ceremony is also fine. Pictures tell one story while a video can tell another. The picture can show the laughter but the video will allow you to relive the joke or special toast from your Dad or BFF. If a professional is not available then of course a family member would be the next best option, maybe on a tripod.

Some cigars are defiantely smelly but many are quite fragrant. Fi isn't a smoker but there is something incredibly sexy about him when he has it in his mouth even before it's lit ... getting off topic here (thanks for allowing me to create that visual)

You are always welcome... whatever you need! Ixchel Sikar The name on our posting in Alexandro. To be honest I may have called as well. I justsent him a reconfirmation email so I will let you know the response http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1166 Oh yeah I am not usre of the indiv. cost but I think I tried to negotiate $5-7 each. Most I recall were $10-$15each. Alot of my guests aren't even smoker so I anticipate only needing an additional box (if that). Whatever is left over FI wil bring back to smoke for special occasions.

Glenda I so love the candy bar/ cookie bar idea. I too worried about the jars for discplay and carrying the candy down. While they do have a nice selcetion of candy in Cabo I don't think that it would present as well . Meaning all diferent colors, in wrappers and such. I am going to purchase some cookie bags however and if the Costco has freshly baked cookies as they do here I will package and place a Sweet Dreams sticker on them. I'll probably reference something about Grandma's specialty or something. I've realized that my wedding carry on bag for Cabo is getting pretty full. The candles are going to be the heaviest so I should probably slow down.

I used to work there in that city. That's a better area than near the city, in my opinion. Have you thought about where you might live? Tammy is in a great area too (Wolverine Lake/Novi) in close proximity to Southfield but complete other side from Sterling Heights. Good luck to you! I miss Michigan sometimes but with the auto industry in poor condition it's hard to know what's going to become of my beloved state/greater Detroit area. The people are very friendly though. I don't knwo how Long Island is but it defiantely beats Manhattan. Keep me posted, as well as TammyM and Sarah.

Crap!!! I am so sorry the Pash's arrived and I picked them up on Friday... on my way out of town. THEY ARE FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE COLOR IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that the guests will be truly appreciative as I am for you. I have been doing so much... work is a killer right now. Now about the Cigar roller let me look up my notes: No I don't have to pay Dreams anything at all (can't find the exact notes) it's for 1-2hours, includes 1 box of cigars (10) I will email to find out if they are personalized or not. Also they are supposed to use a fancy cutter for the presentation. I think I answered everything...

My Bachelorette Party Shirt
JPMO replied to Christine's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Glenda, in regard to the t's I was thinking of just doing the iron-ons for the BMs. Getting a tank or t shirt cheaply (target/old navy) and printing it off of the computer. -
Hey Glenda, i am opting to use the service outside of Dreams for a couple of reasons: For $300, at least one box of cigars is included For Dreams, cigars must be purchased and there were various pricing so I didn't want to go that route Also for Dreams, I am not sure if she actually rolls the cigars or just mans the cigar display case. While in Cabo I priced boxes of cigars and they were at least $150 so I figured I'd at least get a show out of it. It's a small price to pay for the "wow" factor and photo opps.

I was just in Michaels today and they have a few at $1. Plus, in there clearance area they marked some to .50 Last year they have beach/seashell themed ones and I only picked up for my BM at $1each. If you wait a bit they may come back with a more tropical theme

Dreams Brides...
JPMO replied to atjorgensen's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Dreams Cabo: I initially emailed all vendors then I followed up with phone calls if necessary or I didn't hear back in enough time. Travel arrangements were made through a TA, I comparison shopped but nothing compared. By the way... I added international to the phone bill just as a preventative measure. I don't use it alot but it's worth the $4. per month -
They turned out great Natalie... that's totally a must do. I was just going to leave mine blank but now I can't resist. They are going to look great in the pictures... I just love the little details

Ladies, I have ammended my dj reservation and opted to use Mijares' Ipod set up. We were originally going to use the complete service. What I liked was there is an attendant all evening just in case things go wrong.

Right now Dreams Los Cabos is offering the least amount of deals. PV and other destinations have better package deals. For 4days/3nights our guests are paying approx. 1000p person., June 2007. we received an excellent group rate! For those that didn't make there reservations in time are paying about 100-150 more per person for the same dates through online sources. Just a note, we also have several guests that can't afford the wedding. For only a select few, like aunt/officiant and grandmother are we paying for either their travel expenses or assisted with the deposit. The costs for weddings add up quickly, I would caution paying for some of your guests.

Parasols or Fans or both????
JPMO replied to DreaW's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I have seen setups where there is a parasol placed at every other chair or just in a basket. I would definately use the Oriental Trading parasols since they are the most reasonable. Fan are indeed the easiest to carry! Ass another alternative, I am having the market umbrellas set up to shield some of the guests and the BM are carrying parasols. I think some pics of the set-up are in one of my galleries. -
Are you using Mijares? Did you opt more a ceremony audio set-up as well? We just amended our reservation from full DJ to Ipod set-up and an attendant. I don't think that the attendant will mix the songs though I pretty much thought that we had to do that. I guess I must clarify. Dreams: I thought about using there system but I wanted to make sure that the music was of the best quality so I opted for the dj's professional system. If there system is what they use around the pools then it will suffice but isn't the best in clarity. At 160 the whole evening that's a good deal, especially if your group is smaller. we may opt to use that for the welcome dinner where the music won't be as important.

Grrrrrrrr I feel like I am just wasting my little points here!!! I buy, then nothing... this is enough to make a girl BDW points poor

Jen's Totally Over-the-Top Wedding Review
JPMO replied to JENGONDA9's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Jen I read all of you review in one sitting... yeah! Just joking, thanks so much for your review! I really love the indepth reviews, especially when they cover other restaraunts and HM activities. I was wondering who did your flowers since they turned out gorgeous and the quality photographed so well. Your insight and truth in grading was also really beneficial. Question about your OOT bags: Do you think it was the transfer of all of the items or the assembly that you would second guess? Lastly, totally agree with your list of do's; thanks for sharing!!! -
Go to google and place this search in the bar. Anything Tiffany blue in a Knottie bio will appear. If you've already done this then I apoligize. Google tiffany blue site:theKnot.com +co_profileview

I say go for it as well... It's a great color that will compliment the beach and ocean very well. No matter what you do if you repeat that color, it will make guests think of Tiffany's. I am not sure of the source but there are places to locate the boxes in that or a very similar color just without the stamping. You could also use your new last name as the brand. I really like the idea of a silver favor . Maybe not Tiffany since that could get expensive but definately Tiffany inspired. Try silver luggage tags or silver key chains... I'll get to looking for some Tifany blue sources...
