I am using him for 2 hours...and I had already booked my DJ when I found him. It seems like there are lots of guitar players in Cabo (maybe not as fancy or classically trained, but still fine for a wedding) and we just need to find them! Janet AIM: jaynet03 11.11.06 Cabo Surf Hotel Wedding Website

Post your wedding Dress!!

If you love the dress, and it seems that you do, and this person seems reputable, then I don't see why you shouldn't save $800. Maybe you can pay for it with a credit card so that you can always dispute the charge if something goes wrong? One thing I learned when trying on dresses is that they can look way different on you than in the photos, so keep and open mind and try on everything! I also ordered my dress on NetBride.com and saved more than $200, which is like 25% of my dress! Fingers crossed it comes in one, perfect piece Janet AIM: jaynet03 11.11.06 Cabo Surf Hotel Wedding Website -

I love your dress (especially the back! so sexy) Are you and Tammy secretly supermodels or something? -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel -
Hi girls, Interested in your thoughts on this topic. Next month I am going to be making my own invitations. I am trying to decide if we should: A) Include a traditional RSVP card with envelope and stamp Include a RSVP card directing people to RSVP online at our personalized wedding website C) Both The pro to including both is that people can choose what is easiest for them. However, it means I need to design, purchase, and assemble the RSVP cards, and pay for the stamps on the envelopes. Would it be so wrong to just do Option B I have no elderly/non-internet-accessible people coming to the wedding. Even my grandma gets online. Do you think people will think it is tacky? Since I am already doing a non-traditional wedding, does it matter if I have a non-traditional RSVP system? Anyway, you can see that what I want to do is just do online, but I feel unsure of it. I appreciate any thoughts! Are any of you thinking of doing the same thing? Thanks!! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

Here is mine: It's Casablanca 1825 - Unfortunately I won't be able to have a pic of myself in it until August when it arrives!!! I ordered it from www.netbride.com and am saving about $250 that way (not a lot, but every little bit helps, I guess). What I like about it: The shape and the simplicity -- it's actually less "poofy" in real life I think. The sash will go with the boys wearing khaki (I hope!) and the tails are removable for the reception! It's made of a really different silk that I just fell in love with too. Oh, and can you girls tell I am a total V-neck-aholic too? -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel -

Tammy -- that dress is amazing! I never thought a simple strapless dress could look so unique, but this one definitely does! It will look so good on the beach too. I love the subtle details and lightness at the bottom of the skirt. -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel -

thanks april -- I was MOH for 2 of the 3 of them and they picked good dresses for me, so the pressure was on This dress was actually the very first wedding decision made! It picked the wedding colors for me I love the 2nd dress you went with (can't see the first one) but the ruching (sp?) on the bodice is going to be really flattering; it will be perfect for the beach! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel -

This is the Sophia short dress from Jcrew in color Beet - found on sale for $139! I'm thinking about finding some gold strappy sandals and gold/pink chandelier earrings for them. -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel -
ohhh I did mine for so cheap at www.vistaprint.com -- They were having a free offer for 100 postcards. You can custom design anything you want. Try www.vistaprint.com/freeoffer ? it may still work. I ended up paying $10 for having the back in color, and $25 for the 2 day shipping (I was being impatient!) and that was it -- and I loved the quality. People really liked them when they got them in the mail. (and only 33 cents apiece, and 24 cent stamps I think?) Here is a really blown up picture of them: http://www.ewedding.com/images/custo...wnload2314.jpg -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

Hi girls, Just wanted to let you know that David Flores finally wrote me back today (which people kept saying he would do eventually, but it was good to hear from him anyway). Of course, he was totally nonchalant about it... he said: "Hello Janet, dont worry you can write me all the times you need, and I have the day in my calendar for you, so we dont have any problem for your wedding, I hope to see you realy soon here in Cabo, and thank you very much to choice my services." So, I just hope all the people who are hiring him before November (my wedding month) are happy so I don't stress about it. I am going to try to meet with him in June when I am down there...I'll keep you all posted! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

I feel the same about my guitar player!!!!!!!!!! it's maddening! And I really liked him...Keep hoping he will come back to me.... -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

Hi Lauren, You know, he hasn't emailed me back in a few weeks now - SO frustrating! I don't know why either? We talked about price, confirmed date, and I was just about to pay him a deposit and he disappeared....So, I am kinda stressing about it too. I guess better that he disappeared BEFORE I paid him, but still, I really want him to play at my wedding... So, I'm really sorry, and I will keep you posted if I hear anything - will you make sure you post if you hear from him too? Thanks!! Janet [email protected] -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

Hi girls, DJ Antares recommended me a classical guitar player and when I looked at his website it looks like he is a DJ too. His name is David Flores Velasquez. www.avlsystems.com.mx I am going to book him to play guitar at my ceremony and cocktail hour (the demos on his website sound great!) at $250/hr. I am going to go with DJ Antares for my DJ, since he is friends with David, and David didn't want to steal Antares' business or anything. His contact info is on his website. This rate is much cheaper than the $375 I have seen quoted from several wedding planners. If you use him, please tell him that Janet Daly (bride in November at Cabo Surf Hotel) referred you. Thanks!! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

I forget the exact details, but it had something to do with unprofessionally backing out of a wedding at the last minute, though she did say that he sent a replacement. It really doesn't seem like it was THAT big of a deal, but she has stopped doing busines with him. I personally wouldn't rule him out over it, though she did. I am sure he will take beautiful pics for you!!! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

sure -- I'll do that. I actually have one more to add that came in yesterday. I'll work on that tonight when I get home... I was really impressed with Photomexico's website. Tara doesn't recommend him, but I think that was based one bad experience. He told me he did 84 weddings last year so he must be doing something right! -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

Hi ladies, I have been interviewing (via email) five photographers in Cabo to get different rates, styles, info like that. I have put it all into a spreadsheet and I am willing to email it to you if you think it would be helpful. Some of the info is more tailored to my event (like availability on my wedding date) but some of it would be the same for any date (prices, style, etc). The five I have info on are: Jose Lima(Baja Image Bank), Manuel Burgoin(Weddings in Los Cabos), Francisco Estrada(Photomexico), Peter Hatton(Images by Peter), and Bradley Fraser(cabofoto). I have information on: website, rates, style, end product, notes, and whether or not I have heard a recommendation. Right now I only have Tara Null's recommendation but I could get more in the future. I have to say that I emailed these people yesterday and each one responded within 24 hours, many within 12 hours. So far I have not made a decision because I feel I have a lot of great choices! If anyone thinks this is helpful and wants a copy, please just email me. I think all of our weddings will be better if we are able to share all the information we have! [email protected] -janet 11.11.06 cabo surf hotel

yes, I would love to hear more about this -- we would like a guitar player for the ceremony and perhaps cocktail hour, before the real party starts -Janet 11/11/06 Cabo Surf Hotel

I like his photos, but on his website he lists his prices as $450 for first hour and $350 for addt'l hours. Do you think it's negotiable or something?
