That makes the biggest difference to your bottom line, in my opinion. Also, are you considering all-inclusive?
  2. Okay, here is the damage ladies: Reception (food, drinks, wine, cake, apps, tax, service charge): $7,800 Ceremony (chairs, officiant, microphone): $700 Attire (me and FI clothes, accessories, hair/makeup): $1,000 Photography (bradley fraser): $600 Music (guitar player and DJ): $1,130 Flowers: $400 Stationery (invites, StD, postage): $400 Transportation (me/FI, sis/BIL, parents): $2,000 Hotel (me/FI, sister/BIL, parents): $2,000 Misc (day-of planner, favors, gifts, etc): $1,000 And there goes $17,000! But my budget was $20K, so if I really come in under, my parents give me $3K cash!!!!!!!!! (That is totally my incentive here to stay under budget. And yes I am spoiled rotten )

It looks really cool- it will be beautiful for your ceremony. We decided on Dreams because of the AI value for some of our guests and I'm just stuck on getting married at the gazebo and can't get over it! I totally understand the Dreams choice! If we were doing AI I would definitely pick it Glad you liked the Cabo Surf though. I really think it is just the best choice for the look/feel I am going for. I have such high expectations now, I just hope everything turns out like I want!
  4. My sister did the goldfish thing too, since her flowers were orange and red! (Orange fish, red rocks in the bowl) Our cheapo idea for our wedding is to use limes. They are green, which is one of our colors, they are CHEAP, and they are very Mexican! I bought some rattan placemat thingies and on top of them I am going to put one or two candles, a whole bunch of limes, and one big lily bud nestled into the side of them. I have inspiration pics in my photogallery.
  5. Hey Darci, I think I remember hearing good things about them but I just don't remember details. I don't recall ever reading a negative review, though. I think you are probably right that with all costs included, they may not be a lot cheaper. One of the benefits to having a caterer is being able to buy the alcohol yourself and just hire a bartender to serve it. Make sure you consider alcohol in your figures, because that is where a hotel can really gouge you on the prices!
  6. That looks great! On the back, we put our whole names (since just our first names were on the front) and our address like it would be on a postcard. We left the right side open to write the addresses on. I think that was it!

    Newbie

Welcome Kyndra! I think TammyM had some questions about Villa del Palmar a few weeks ago so now she has someone to ask! How is your planning going?

  9. What a great story! Although I feel like I have "known" you for awhile on these boards, it's always fun to hear personal stories like that. I am so glad you two found each other!!!

    Hello

Hi Lauren! Welcome to the board. I will be getting married at the Cabo Surf potentially one year exactly before you. Let me know if I can help!
  11. I am also only getting diamonds halfway around, which matches my engagement ring. I like saving money, and I didn't want to get callouses on my palm from the skin rubbing up on rough little diamonds all the time (maybe that's weird?)
  12. 52 days!!!!!!!! ahhhhh!!!!! that means I have 50 days to get my crap together and get myself to Mexico, where it will *hopefully* be stress-free. How is your planning coming, Amanda?

    Cabo Bride!

Welcome, Meaghan! I love the idea of a villa in Pedregal. I recommend looking at www.cabovillas.com because they have experience working with brides. At the beginning of my planning process, I talked to them on the phone and they were so helpful. In the end, we had too many guests and would have had to pay a fortune to rent out on of their huge villas, but if your wedding is medium/small it could be great.
  14. welcome Gina! Jennifer will definitely be able to help you - I think she got married there this summer. Good luck with your planning!
  15. this question made me giggle only because my FI was soooooo excited about the strip club (weird, I know) and then in Atlantic City he got way too drunk too early in the night and got sick so he didn't ever make it to the club. He was so sad, but I kinda just had to laugh because it was his fault (not mine!) that he didn't get strippers. (This story makes him sound kinda lame, but I swear it was more like the idea that OF COURSE you see strippers at a bach party, it's your one time when that is allowed, and he missed it on account of his own stupidity....oops!)
  16. I am so excited to have my rehearsal dinner here! They have been great to work with, and I know they try to respond to all emails/phone calls within 24 hours. The owner's name is Jacobo Turquie, although he is not the only one to do groups so you may end up working with someone else there. I attached the group menu and the wine list. We were able to negotiate the menu choices and prices a little bit, fyi. I got really nice quality invites with lined and printed envelopes and thick paper for $280/100 of them. They have good customer service too. They took off a little flowery thing I didn't like and sent me a proof and everything I asked!
  18. I totally understand your nervousness! What if you did this: bring an ipod and some $100-$150 ipod speakers with you as a backup plan? Worst case scenario, he doesn't show up and you have to get a friend to man the iPod that night?
  19. oh that is my date too! It is SO SOON!!

    Hello!

Welcome Erin. We have several brides on this board at both locations. From what I have heard, both are gorgeous! (But definitely different, too.) I am honeymooning at Casa del Mar. It seems like the major difference between them is one is a hotel so you have to worry about room blocks, hotel catering, etc. Whereas with the restaurant you have to worry about getting a private space, and having your guests get there, etc.
  21. Sorry this is so big, for some reason my wedding website is not letting me shrink it...I swear it looks better smaller because it isn't so choppy! When it was printed it was smooth and crisp. We used a stock photo (free) but paid $10 to have the back done in color ink. We also paid a bit more for the fast shipping because I was (for some crazy unnecessary reason) in a HURRY. No matter your preferences, you could definitely come in below $100! (Even below $50, I bet.)

    I'm New!

Welcome Amanda! Tell us where you are in the planning process (have you picked a venue?) Hopefully we can help if you need anything!
  23. Welcome Karla (another Karla, 3 Tammys, 3 Nicoles, it's crazy!) Tell us where you are in the planning process so far? How can we help? Maria Elena is getting married in the San Jose Catholic Church next month, so you are in good company. I can't remember if we have any Westin brides yet though... Do you have a planner?
