Hey Lisa, I had a friend go from Costa Rica into Cuba ...she said it was awesome! However, the fines if you get caught are pretty steep! Like $1K or $2K a person or something? Don't quote me on that, but it sure would raise up the cost of your honeymoon

Hey Jennifer, I am using The Flower Cart Cabo for flowers (pink lillies!). You can see some of my inspiration pics in my photogallery. If you speak Spanish (or have someone who can do that for you) I bet you can get flowers for cheaper. If not, flower cart speaks english.

At my shower we played a really fun, non-cheesy game. Before the party, someone has to put it all together. You cut out pictures of brides from bridal magazines, and then pictures of celebrity faces from People, USWeekly, etc and then put the celeb faces ONTO the bridal model's faces. (Even like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, etc were "brides") Then you number them 1-20 or whatever, and give people a little worksheet to fill out who the celeb is. It's fun because all of the young people will get it, all of the old ladies know like 3 of them, and nobody is put on the spot or embarrassed. Just make sure to throw in one or two really tricky ones. It's the least cheesy bridal shower game, and it really is kinda fun....I swear! ( I hope my explanation of the game made sense...by brain is feeling like mush right about now!)

I would ask the host if there is a theme to the gifts (ie lingerie) or if the bride is registered anywhere and if most people are getting gifts from the registry. My shower was all women and more of the wedding-gift variety. It was mostly for my mom's friends who can't make it to the wedding but wanted to celebrate with me anyway.

We chose Cabo because we wanted somewhere where people from the east and west coasts could meet, and we didn't want to worry about hurricanes! I have to admit when I picked Mexico I was thinking things would be more affordable than in the US -- but I was definitely wrong about that. Cabo is many things, but it is not cheap!

MariaElena, you are starting off a very busy Oct/Nov wedding season here on this board, so I hope yours goes off without a hitch and then you can send the good luck our way. Too add to your list, Natasha and Rebecca get married the weekend of the 11th too. You will be a gorgeous bride! Congrats!!

Welcome! I'd recommend looking into renting condos at Casa del Mar for some of your guests. They are often cheaper than the hotel rooms, and right there on the same grounds. I'll try to find some links for you. Our fellow bride Ylan got married there last weekend; I'm sure she'll be back to post a review soon -- and I know she ended up renting condos and booking hotel rooms both

Not when I booked (Jan 2006), but they might have one now. I would try to negotiate it down though.
