hey Kash, I am by no means thin (not fat either, just a nice in between, lol) and I looooove my V-neck/A-line dress. The V-neck gives a great line on my chest and actually even flatters the arm I think, because it kinda breaks it in half so your entire arm isn't just OUT THERE, ya know? Then it comes in at my smallest point, which is my ribs just below my boobs. Then the A-line skirt just sweeps across my waist and hips without being clingy. But I think it just creates a nice hourglass shape. I personally was self conscious about my boobs and arms in a strapless dress because I felt it just sliced me horizontally. Try to find something that has more of a verticle lines (hence why I like the v-neck). I definitely suggest finding a bridal salon that carries Casablanca dresses. They make great V-necks, and they are affordable without looking cheap. My top 3 choices were all Casablanca!

Bambi is the person for hair. I am paying $85 for hair and $60 for makeup, plus 18% gratuity and 10% tax. $185 total. You pay half when you book it, and the other half a week before. I requested mine to be with Bambi, but I don't know if she is just hair or makeup too?

Belize sounds awesome, but what about Costa Rice or Guatemala? How many people are you thinking will join you?

I know Natasha had to go early because I already booked Bambi for the afternoon

I am actually going to Hive since it is so close, and because I just wanted to save the extra money. Also, only one of my BMs is getting hair done, so it just seemed easier to go to the salon. But I think the rooms at the Cabo Surf are plenty big and that it would be fun to have a little spa party in the room. I will definitely let you know my thoughts on Hive soon! I have high hopes. (For their prices and reputation they better be good!)

Thank you gift for parents...ideas?
deleted replied to deleted's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
hey girls, Thanks for the ideas. I think you are right about the time thing especially. I wish we had it in the budget to pay for a weekend away with each of them, or something like that! I think I just need to mull over this some more. I wish I had starting thinking about this earlier! -
I've finished buying gifts for all the wedding party, but I'm stumped about what to buy our parents (both mine and his) to say thank you. How do you thank someone for something SO HUGE? How do you thank people who already have most every material possesion they want? (at least that I can afford!) Here are some ideas: embroidered keepsake handkerchief (for the moms) weekend at a B&B (not too $$ but still somewhere nice) ?? (Can you tell I am stumped?) We plan to make nice photobooks but those will be Christmas gifts. Do you have any ideas for nice but affordable and/or meaningful gifts that we can give them at or right after the wedding? What are you all doing? Thanks in advance!

Hey Anna, I will be checking out of the hotel on Sunday morning to go to our honeymoon hotel, but my friends and family are staying there for the week and I can leave everything with them. You are welcome to use whatever you'd like, I just might not have a lot because I am trying to do minimal decor! But I will have these brown rattan placemat thingies with 1 big candle, a few votives, and a big pile of limes and lily buds as my centerpieces. I'm sure you can make something artsy out of them? I'll try to make a mockup and post photos so you know what I am talking about.

Hi Marci! I said hi on the other thread you posted too, but I am really looking forward to working with you in just a few weeks

well when I was there they were setting up for a wedding, so the only non-wedding tables were kind of off to the side next to the lobby. I don't actually even remember a bar? I am sure there must be one though. But basically everything was cleared out for the wedding, as you can see in the pics above. My guess is you could use the smaller tables, I'd just ask Armando. I can also give you a better idea once I am there for more than 2 hours
-
Lisa, I think we have 55 people, so seven tables of eight. I think it should fit perfectly and leave room for dancing!
-
That's awesome Sarah! Woo hooo!! And yes we are also thinking happy thoughts for Kash today. I mean, skinny thoughts!!
-
I think there are several hotels that are under $100. Marbella like Kash said, and also Suites Las Palmas, but it's in SJ sadly. The problem with condos is they usually want at least a 3-night minimum.

I only tasted appetizers, but they were yummy! I got recommendations from several brides from 2005 and they raved about the food, so that is a good sign. Sadly, I will not be able to give you my own wedding review in time! We are just having a pretty normal non-fancy Mexican buffet, but I am hoping it is delicious. I love love Mexican food.

Hi! I'm getting married at the Cabo Surf the day before you! Let me know if you want some day-old lily bouquets, lime and candle centerpieces....well, that's about all I have to offer! but let me know I think it's great you are planning in such a short time. I bet it will still be fabulous!

Thanks again for all your advice, ladies. I have decided to start small, and I booked a nice haircut and shave at a men-only salon here in DC. They say to set aside 90 minutes, so I think there is a head/neck massage in there as well. I hope he enjoys it and feels relaxed, but doesn't get so addicted that we start going broke at the spa I'll let you know how it goes!

Reading your criteria, you might want to check out the Cabo Surf Hotel. They have a pretty big wedding photo gallery on their website at www.cabosurfhotel.com -- And there are about 4 Cabo Surf brides on this board if you have questions!
-
Hi Marci! Welcome to the boards. Girls, Just FYI I just decided in the last week to use Marci and Enrique for my wedding video, and I have been really impressed with their prices and their prompt and professional correspondence. Of course I'll give a full review in a few weeks (I am only getting raw footage, not a full edited video) but thought I'd at least say that much up front!

karla (in NC, not TX) -- I think if I really said, "It's important to me that your hands and feet look perfect" he would get the mani/pedi but I dunno about the frilly stuff. But they aren't exactly gross enough that I have made the ultimatum. He did promise to at least make them look nice himself! And I like your thinking on the massages....
-
lol you girls are funny because I totally agree with the idea of "How can you NOT want that stuff" so I guess I just need to figure out if he really would like it but doesn't know it...or if he would not care and I can save my $300 I got him to go to the tanning salon with me last night! Victory Janet! lol

Hi ladies, While I have been generously treating myself to spa treatments leading up to the wedding, I am wondering more about the guy side... Here's the thing. My FI is super low key. I am the person who currently cuts his hair! He used to go to Hair Cuttery for like $14 but I decided I could do a better job for free, and so now I do it. I have kind of been encouraging him to get a nice haircut, shave, pedicure, manicure, massage or just something before the wedding but he is just like ehhhh, whatever. Do your men like these treatments? Are they worth the $$$? Should I just book him a normal old barber haircut and stop caring, or do you think it's worth it to splurge, especially if he doesn't seem to care? Just looking for some opinions... Thanks!
