  1. Jesalyn those are stunning. I can't believe you made more than 100 of them! Just thinking about it makes me head spin (and I actually like projects!)
  2. Welcome Bradley! Lots of the girls on here have seen your work before (my wedding, Raina's wedding, and even Leigh's wedding last summer). And Christa is up next! Hope you are doing well!
  3. Although I didn't formally write And Guest on anyone's invite, I let everyone know they were welcome to bring someone. I felt like if they were going to travel all the way to Mexico for me they should be welcomed to do whatever it took to make the vacation more fun for them. I personally would not have traveled alone to Cabo! The funny thing is that there were enough single people that nobody brought a random boyfriend or girlfriend and it was just fine. I think it made people feel good that they were welcome to if they wanted so I got goodwill credit for that gesture, and ultimately I didn't have to shoulder any more cost. If you were single and invited to a DW, would you want to go alone? Some people would and some people wouldn't I guess...
  4. Hey Gladys, Congrats on your engagement. There are lots of Cabo girls here, so I am sure we can slowly get thru all your questions... I got married in November and found prices to be pretty good. They started going up again once thanksgiving/christmas/new years hits, then I don't know about the spring, sorry.... We had lots of guests stay in condos and private villas found on ..VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner® Vacation Homes Rentals by Owner which worked out great. Lots of people stayed for $75/night and had a kitchen (another moneysaver). We recommended our guests rent cars. Then they could get to all the wedding events but also go exploring on their own. If that doesn't sound up your alley, you could also consider an all-inclusive place. Dreams and RIU are most popular for brides. There is a Catholic church in San Jose. MariaElena got married there so search for her review. I think Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach has a pretty chapel. I forget the others... For a bargain WC you could hire Maye ($900+) or for full coordination you could hire Tara, Amy, or Lisa from Fiestas Los Cabos ($3,000?) Hopefully that is a good start!
  5. How about these? O Oscar, An Oscar de la Renta Co. Arden (Turquoise Python Print) - Dress Sandals Or these? Endless.com:"Matisse Women's Lucca Thong,Ocean,9 M:Women's Shoes" Endless.com: Shoes & Handbags offers overnight shipping for NEGATIVE $5 - as in they pay you $5 and ship it to you overnight (thru Feb)
  6. I want time to hurry up because I am ready to hear about your wedding already, Christa! Don't worry because you do not need to be freaking...you have everything under control and anything that comes up I am sure one of the Cabo Surf's margaritas will cure. By the way ladies, did I mention the margaritas are lethally strong (and delicious)? Just FYI
  7. omg girls your husbands are going to DIE when they see these. All three of you look like 100% true life models. I am sure you are gorgeous, but clearly Leigh is one talented woman! The lighting and the colors and the poses are just perfect!
  8. You have made some fabulous choices so far. Your WC, site, and photog are top notch. What colors are you thinking? We kept our flowers really simple and used limes in our centerpieces because they are cheap and vibrant (and Mexico-y!). For video I'd recommend Marcie - her screen name on this board is BVP. Do you want your welcome dinner in Cabo, San Jose, or on the corridor?
  9. welcome! I love Miami (even though I was the absolute whitest girl on the beach when I went there and it was quite embarrassing)! Congrats on your engagement and you have definitely come to the right place.
  10. Yay! I am so glad...and I know just what you mean about it feeling like the perfect place. Armando is great and the hotel staff is wonderful - you won't regret it! Once Tasha and Christa get married there next month you will have even more info about the place. I'm always happy to help too!
  11. I would suggest talking with Marcie (BVP is her name on the boards). She is so affordable and you will be glad you got a video (without breaking the bank). The day flies by so quickly so being able to see things you missed on the video is priceless!
  12. I think we spent $700. The price of gold is high right now so if your wedding isn't until next year you could wait to see if it goes down.
  13. Sounds like your visit was a success! Like Tammy said...have you decided? I'm so glad you liked Cabo Surf. Hopefully you can clear up all the confusion about site fees and other things that we all had about that venue.
  14. Tammy what is the average cost for a place like that? How much does it vary throughout the year?
  15. I vote #1....its just more interesting and Mexico-y, like someone above said
  16. Angela, This isnt really the answer to your questions, but are you 100% sure that is the sunset time? I would just double check because I got married on Nov 11th and I think the sunset was at 5:37. I don't remember when daylight savings ends though. Anyway, I do wish my ceremony had been about 30 mins earlier because the light goes away quickly.... Also, I think it's fine to do the toasts and cake right after dinner (maybe you can have 1 hour instead of 45 mins?). It's easier than letting people dance and then making them all sit down again and pay attention. They can take their time eating cake if they are full? Anyway, I dunno if this is helpful...I think the firedancers would be fine later on in the night like you are thinking but since I didnt have them I don't really know....
  17. I used Antares from DJ Systema and liked him. I feel like both Ricardo and David have gotten good reviews on this board...have you done a search? I used David for guitar, which he is FABULOUS at, but I can't speak to his DJ abilities. I feel like someone used him though...maybe MariaElena?
  18. I think if you don't want to change your name, then don't. I'm sure you will still get called Mrs. HusbandsName in public but you can legally keep your own name - plenty of women do it. I chose to move my maiden name to my middle name, so it's still there. Honestly, I am still slowly moving over. I would say I'm about halfway there.
  19. I voted for 5 because I like the sweetheart neckline and it makes your waist look tiny. However, I think the super-long veil takes away from the beauty and details of the dress. You look fabulous! seriously, I need to get my fata$$ back to boot camp....
  20. Instead of getting the boys the same thing, my husband got each of his guys something they would want. For one it was the entire set of Scrubs (tv show) on DVD (inside joke between them) and for another it was a lift ticket at his favorite resort.
  21. The forest ones are great and different than I've ever seen...they look so ethereal
  22. I like #1 better, but I would take out the line "to become one" -- I dunno I guess I just like short and sweet, and it has your names at the top.
  23. Hydrangeas are gorgeous but do not hold up so well after they are cut. You would want to have a spray bottle of water around to keep them "refreshed"
