  1. pretty pretty pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love the colors and yes you are so tan!
  2. ditto most of what Tasha said. Honestly, I was so busy and running around chatting with people I don't think I ate much food all weekend, but I know my guests loved the hotel's breakfast! We had a welcome dinner off site the night before the wedding, and lots of people just went to the grocery to get snacks. It was a mixed bag, really.
  3. Laura - I should have mentioned that online poker is my hubby's "unofficial job" - or even offline poker. he is poker obsessed! I call it my pedicure money Quote: Robin works for a Excavating company. So basically he drives around big machines and plants trees and shrubs and stuff all day. Its hard work so he has nice big muscles now. hehehe He is also a total nerd!! He has a comic book collection that makes me want to scream!! (Like well over 5000 comics!!) he listens to death metal and thrash and plays online poker. haha
  4. Welcome! Cabo in October should be perfect. We were early November and it was ideal weather. In 2006 there were some hurricane scares, but it's nowhere near as big of a threat as it is on the Gulf of Mexico side. What kind of venue are you thinking of? How many people? I'm sure we can help!

We booked 20/22 rooms. It was so much fun to wake up and see everyone at breakfast/at the pool, etc. It was great for the parents, too. It was nice that if you needed to run up to your room, it took 5 min - not 1/2 hour like it might at some larger hotels. It was just a fun, relaxed, friendly environment. I can't recommend it enough. The location is absolutely beautiful - and the food - OMG! so good! the margs are killer, too! I am already lobbying DH to stay there again sometime. Yeah, we are dying to go back for our anniversary in the next few years too! The margaritas............SO YUMMY!
  6. We pretty much set the menu and the price when we signed the contract, so I can't really speak from experience there. But in general he is pretty easy going. I would just negotiate everything and get it in writing BEFORE you sign the contract and pay the deposit, and then keep a paper trail of everything you agree to. Just in case, as an insurance policy

I mean it only has 22 rooms so it can't be too bad. Michelle, I would say we had about 10 or 12 of the rooms? Definitely not the whole hotel, but it felt like it. Over the course of the few days we were there we met just a handful of other guests and they were all very nice and cool. It attracts a really laid back crowd.
  8. my hubby just finally got a new job this week!!!!!! so it's funny you asked... He is an analyst at a political polling firm. I guess it's technically called "public opinion research and strategic consulting" or something but really it's polling. So if you ever get those annoying calls that interrupt your dinner to ask you what you think about candidates or political issues, you can blame him
  9. We chose the Cabo Surf Hotel because it was off the beaten path, small, intimate, and didn't break the bank with prices.
  10. That sucks, but one thing about getting married in Cabo is that I swear they will try to bleed every last penny out of you. It is one of the downsides for sure. I'm not sure if it's because they can, or if it's because we are "rich Americans" so they assume it's no big deal, or whatever, but things are NOT CHEAP in Cabo. At some point, you will have to decide how much you want to argue and how much you just want to let go and go with the flow. Honestly, it's a really tough balance. I would definitely try to work with vendors who do not try to tack on fees for everything, but it's tough. Actually, that was one of my favorite things about the Cabo Surf. I was told all of the prices up front and I could decide if I was willing to pay them or not. At the end of the wedding, my bill was exactly to the dollar what I thought it would be. (And my wine and appetizer tasting was free. We didn't try entrees or cake though.)
  11. Another fabulous slideshow - Sarah you two look so happy! Nice work Juan
  12. Oh I love it! Juan you did a great job, thanks for making it Mac friendly this time!
  13. We originally looked into villas but it was a bit pricey and we ended up with a perfect wedding at the Cabo Surf Hotel. It might not be what you are looking for, but it definitely had a small, intimate feel. Cabo Surf Hotel, beach resort, boutique hotel in Los Cabos with surfing, Baja diving and Cabo golf.
  14. I would vote that the purse "doesn't count" - I'm pretty sure I carried all that on. Plus, when you are the bride, 99% of people treat you better.
  15. Although it's hard to tell from the pics, I would vote cream just because I think people in general tend to look better in cream or ivory over stark white. It's just more flattering, in my opinion. Softer, I guess. Also, and this is just my opinion, that stark white looks cheaper and creamy ivory looks more expensive. Pretty dress!
  16. Jenetta! Gorgeous!!!!! I love that orange color too - perfect contrast with the pool blue. Can't wait to see more!
  17. Not all inclusive, located just south of San Jose del Cabo on the east end of the corridor (KM 28 or so), and I think their food/bev prices are extremely reasonable compared to the rest of Cabo.
  18. Congrats! You will love it. I just replied to two of your questions on other threads, fyi. Definitely ask me or Christa (A10CAGAL) or Tasha (NABUMBAH) if you have questions!
  19. acacia - those were from the tasting from my site visit in june 2006. I don't think we had them at our wedding (I missed the cocktail hour so I have no idea really) but maybe you can ask. I didn't rent anything for my wedding.
  20. Congrats, acacia! You will love it. Let us know how your site visit goes after you come back.
  21. Nicole, have a great time! It's going to be amazing. I can't believe it's finally here!!! Can't wait to hear all about it
  22. I also used BVP (Marci is a member on this forum) and I really loved working with them and I'm happy with my (quite affordable) video. I got raw footage only.
  23. oh I am so glad you are rejuvenated in your planning. I forgot about that 5% discount - that was great. We used it for our entire bill, food and booze and all. And we had a few rooms of all my single girlfriends bunking together - it was like college again! What is the struggle with the photogs? Are they all just booked?
  24. hey Diana, We had 55 people and we ended up getting the mexican buffet and 4 hours open bar and apps for about....$96 (?) per person (I think it was like 40 + 42 + 14 or something like that. Plus wine and cake. We didn't bargain too much, but definitely a little bit. No break on the room prices at all, sadly. (These were 2006 prices, by the way.) The more people you have, the more I would negotiate, and I would also negotiate everything and have it in writing before signing a contract. And keep records in writing (via email) of every single thing you agree too. I think Armando is great, but he handles a lot of weddings and you just want a paper trail, ya know? The Cabo Surf is such a great little hotel and the food is delicious. You will love it!
