  1. Welcome! What venues are you considering?
  2. How about meet up on the beach with snacks like Jamy said and rent a few surf boards or body boards or other activities for people to participate in if they want to? How about a bonfire?

When my mom moved into her house recently she actually found a lot of great furniture at Costco. When we moved here we sold almost everything and had to start all over again and I found a lot of decor at home goods and marshalls, good deals. Oh and the Pentagon City Macy's has a huge selection of that martha stewart stuff, its all so great, too bad I already got a bunch of "home" stuff before I saw that stuff from my registry. let me know if you ever need a shopping buddy! All of you are so helpful, and it's so great to have local advice too Christine. I never thought about the IKEA location thing but that totally makes sense. And my office is across the street from the downtown Macy's -- I might go nuts on my lunch hour!! And I've already looked at Costco, I'm pretty sure we will get a flat screen TV from there. (I am costco obsessed, I can't hide it!) (Oh, and I won't paint anything red - been there, done that ) Quote: Originally Posted by Lizzy Janet, HGTV.com has some great ideas for decorating rooms. I want to go pick out paint chips soon, since that is the FUN part! We have the home inspection on Weds, I will take pics and measurements then. My house is so BLAH right now its definitly important to have a great accent color. I love love love the colors you picked We have been living with the ugliest used furniture for years because I refused to buy anything before we knew where we would live. Luckily, it seems like some paint and accessories can make a huge different in your house? At least you started with neutrals! Also, I haven't let us start using our nice wedding gifts yet because I wanted new stuff in a new house! (Hubby thinks I am INSANE) But it is going to be so great to have new dishes and sheets and everything in just a few weeks. They've been sitting in my MIL's attic since our wedding!
  4. Paula - great sites! Here is one you might like: Design*Sponge

Okay so now on to decorating. I love these colors you picked out they are so bright and fun. And you know me I heart, heart, heart white so I think it will all blend in well. Did you find any pics of the type of look your going for? Thanks, Glenda! Hopefully you are next? I am still looking for some "inspiration" photos. I am going to start a big binder like I did for the wedding planning. I have been really needing a project for the last 10 months!! Crate & Barrel. They have nice decor, not too expensive. Paula - definitely agree on the red. I will just be in one or two small accessories to add punch to the room. And DC just got a West Elm store downtown right by my office, woo hoo! I love that place! I am def going to spend some money there and C&B, at least as much as my budget allows.
  6. We close on Sept 21, so three weeks. But the actual decorating and whatnot will be a long process
  7. I know most married gals are busy having babies or trying to have babies, but now that hubby and I have an outlandish mortgage payment, our only "baby" will be our new home for at least a few years. I've already starting thinking about how I want to decorate. I want the house to look bright, fresh, and modernized but still look like the century-old home that it is. We have hardwood floors, some wood built-ins, and exposed red brick throughout. Pretty tall ceilings, too. What do you think of this color palette (plus WHITE. White is important for keeping it bright and light!) These bowls are from the new Martha Stewart line at Macy's, which I already LOOOOOOOVE. I'll try to find some "inspiration" rooms to show you the look I'm going for. And if you have ideas, lemme know. Oh yeah, and I'm on a budget!!!
  8. better to be too early and take 15 mins to relax and have a margarita than too late and stressed and regretful!!!!!!!!
  9. Tasha's right - you want to use that golden light for your best photos. Just make sure you have enough time for your photos to get them all in before dark. If you don't take some beforehand too? You can make tentative decisions now, and when you get the Cabo the week of your wedding you can actually time the light one night and adjust your schedule accordingly.
  10. hmmm, those are pretty but I don't love the matchy-matchy too much. Personally, I never wear earrings AND a necklace AND a bracelet at the same time. Maybe just two of the three. Maybe just add some small silver studs to keep it simple?
  11. I was gonna say have a glass of wine, but looks like you have that covered
  12. Earlier is better, unless you pick TOO early and it's A) super hot and super bright The sun sets earlier than you'd think because it sets behind the hotel, which is mountainous. So the suns dips behind the mountains before actual "sunset" time. It casts long shadows that you might have to work around creatively. Once the sun is behind the mountains but before it's dark out is a great window for soft light. In your case, I think 5:30 is way too late. We did it at 4:30 (after daylight savings changed) and I wish we did it about 15-30 mins earlier.
  13. hard to choose! My top 3 are: 1. single starfish with the rectangle and names on top of it 2. palm trees in the circle 3. Green M with your names written up the side of the letter (1st page, bottom left)
  14. oh I am SO FREAKING JEALOUS! Have a great time and yes, beware of the margs
  15. that was the same template I used - so of course I love it! Too funny that y'all have the same last name. No need to change names!
  16. The great thing about Mexico is that color really works well there. The brighter and bolder the better! It would be nice if you could find something (paper, fabric?) that is a really cool pattern that ties all of the colors together in one thing, and then just use that for the smallest accents. I'm not sure what or where though...
  17. I have a funny story about this too -- I called to change my name on my credit card. They said fine, they did it, and they sent me a new card. Well, they spelled my new name wrong! So I called and I was like you spelled my name wrong, you need to send me a new card. They put me on hold like this is the most difficult thing ever (it was THEIR fault!) and come back and they're like, We have to file this as a lost or stolen card. We will send you a new one. I said, it's not lost or stolen, it's just WRONG. Whatever they have to file it this way for their purposes. They put me on hold again and come back and ask, "Will you be filing a police report for yout stolen card?" WTF?!? MY CARD WAS NOT STOLEN. I asked them what they wanted me to tell the police? "Hi I have to report a stolen credit card that isn't stolen, it just has my named spelled wrong because my credit card company is full of idiots?" Ahhh I flipped my lid, it was so annoying. And I am usually NICE to customer service people, I swear.
  18. What an awesome story! I loved hearing both sides of it too! Congrats!
  19. I did hair/makeup at 1 and ceremony at 4:30. I wish I had an extra hour in there (more like Sarah's!). And I got a mani/pedi at home too, so 4 days before. That was fine, really. I wanted to spend time with my friends and fam on the day of, not stuck in the salon alone!
  20. I love the feathers idea!!! I'm not sure I would pair them with callas only because callas are so statuesque - would they "compete" with each other? But I've never seen a pic of this, so what do I know? Either way, I love ideas that are outside the box a little bit. Tasha, who got married at the Cabo Surf, had a pretty white feather in her hair. (Right? Am I remembering this right?) It looked awesome!
  21. Isn't it sad? David was so great, just so unreliable! UGH, it's too bad.
