I wore wedges (2.5 inch heels?) in the sand and it was fine. The key is having an ankle strap so that they stay on snugly with no effort.

For what it's worth, I have an IUD and I'm really happy with it. I have the non-hormone one. Advantages: No fuss, nothing to do except check on it once a month No monthly cost No hormones Disadvantages: Heavier period I'm happy to answer any questions about it if you want. I know everyone reacts differently to different methods of BC but I am pretty happy with mine overall.

I have to say, it's not very often that you OUTLOUD say your whole name, and when you do, you can say "Jacquelyn Mathey." Most of the time, you say "Hi, I'm Jackie." Right? I have had a new last name for 10 months now and I am still getting used to saying it. I am totally used to writing it, but the outloud, "I'm JANET LASTNAME" is so rare that it still seems weird to say. Does that help at all?

Yep, it was! Just call the office and verify everything you need, like a birth certificate, etc. I just cannot remember what all is required. Good luck!

We got married at the Courthouse in Arlington. It was super easy...went something like this: A random Wednesday, on our lunch hour... (oh, and we are DC residents, not VA residents) We took the Metro to Courthouse, went inside and up to the marriage license office. Paid $30 and showed some ID, got the paperwork started. Then we went across the street to this lawyer's office and they did a civil ceremony in the basement. I think it was $50, and they have someone there all day to do them. You can get their names from the people at the courthouse, and you can make an appointment beforehand. Then you walk back to the courthouse, turn in the signed papers. Then you can come back the next day and get copies of the signed sealed certificate for $2 each. I might have some of the details off (maybe the lawyer submits the paperwork in the end? I forget) but basically it was super easy and we did it all on our lunch hour. Then we walked across the street to Wendy's and got Frosty's!

Welcome! I think our last (and only?) El Encanto bride got married the same day as me...I don't remember if we ever got a review from her. I remember that I met the bride's brother in the hot tub at the Cabo Surf hotel after our weddings, and he said it was nice. But I don't remember much else... Hopefully we can help you out!

Have you looked into the Cabo Surf Hotel? Maybe they will waive a location fee because you are getting married on a weekday? It's definitely fairly secluded, although there are always some surfers around. I think they have pretty reasonable food/beverage prices and if you tell them you are on a budget maybe they can work with you. Armando is the guy to talk to there.

I don't know anything about Cancun, but Dreams Cabo isn't super nightlife-y. You can take a cab to downtown Cabo, but the resort itself it away from all the clubs. It's stunningly beautiful though!! Maybe the RIU Cabo is a better option for the nightlife part? Luckily there are a ton of Dreams Cabo brides here who can help you!

I would go to whatever nice department store is in your area. Do you have Nordstrom?

It was about a year and a half ago, but I got my dress from them. It was perfect and arrived early!

I am so sorry and I know just how you feel. This happened to me last week (minus the dog part). The insurance company is "investigating it" blahblahblahb...it sucks. I gets better though, I promise.

I would definitely rent a car! Cabs are not the best option, in my opinion. With a car, you can zip yourself all over town and really get to know your way around. Just drive in the right lane and let everyone pass you on the left and you'll be fine (I guess I should say if you are just going to Cabo San Lucas and don't plan on leaving a 5 block radius then you might not need a car, but if you want to explore San Jose, the corridor, etc, then I would get a car.)
