  1. Very pretty Edyta & Christa! I love them both!! This was my Rehearsal dress. I got it at a little boutique in Laguna Beach. It became a honeymoon dress too
  2. Alright Christine !! WHOO! WHOO! WHOO! I weigh in on Friday. I just started my period, (thank gaud!) so hopefully I'll have a decent weigh in this week. I haven't been great, but I haven't been horrible either. Yes!! Please post recipes. I need some new ones! Hang in there Jilly. It's a new week and it's only Tuesday. I haven't been keeping track either...just in my head. But when I do actually write it down, I realize I left some things out (in my head). How convenient... (Ha Ha)..
  3. We brought our rings and just hid them in a pair of socks in our drawer. They aren't going to go ransacking your room to find them, but probably have a better chance of them dissappearing if they are in plain site or in the safe (if they can break into it). People know that you put valubles in the safe. So if they have access, that is probably the first place they's look. I have heard of some girls pinning them on the inside of their wedding dress in a little sachet. But I agree. Just tip the maids everyday just to be safe.
  4. I have a small bleeding rose on the inside of my right ankle (yeah...I know, SOOO Guns n' Roses!!!). I got it in 1990! Anyway, it is really small and not that noticable. Only get one if you want one. Seriously, it is perminent and very painful and expensive to get them removed. I know a girls going through that right now.
  5. Hey Glenda, the reception can last as long as you want it to. I think the latest it can go is 11:00. At first I was going to end mine at 10:00 and then get everyone to go into town to party it up. But I ended up changing my mind and I's so glad I did. Why make everyone pay for drinks when they're free? We had soo much fun and im so glad we extended it for the extra hour. We all continued the party in the lobby bar until 2:00 AM. Regarding cocktail hour, Mariana blocked off part of the El Patio restaurant. There was a bar set up and the trio gutarists continued to play at the cocktail hour while we took photos. The cost was included in the ceremony set up, so no additional charge! Mariana sent me an appetizer list & I picked 4 hot and 4 cold apps. They were all pretty good except these little mini suasages. They sounded good in my mind, but when we saw them, they looked like a regular sized hot dogs, cut into little pieces with this gravy-like cream sauce over it. Ewww? It was sort of a joke. Everyone kept asking...what are these, no one has the nerve to try it (haHa). The mini quiches were really yummy and all the other apps. below is the menu Mariana sent me. If you are going to go on a site visit, you may as well taste the apps that you are interested in too. These are what I chose: COLD Cheese with grapes and nuts Guacamole and salsa with totopos Acapulco shrimp ceviche on tartlets Grissini with Prosciutto ham HOT Mini Quiches (mix half quiche lorrain & half spinach?) Sausage in blanquettes Mini tamales Beef brochette with blue cheese sauce Here is the complete choice of menu options: Canapés International Canapés Cold Smoke Salmon mousse Cheese with grapes and nuts Cold cut canapés Seafood Tartlets Choux with Chicken salad Hot Mini Quiche Lorraine Sausage in blanquettes Chicken fingers Beef brochette Fish croquette Mexican Canapés Cold Ceviche in chalupa Guacamole and salsa with totopos Tostadas of beef Salpicón Panela cheese in chipotle sauce Chile stuffed with tuna salad Acapulco shrimp ceviche on tartlets Hot Mini tamales Mini tacos dorados Chicken and cheese turnovers Sopes with Mexican sausage Chile popper Secret Canapés Cold Home made pâté mousse Smoke Salmon with cream cheese Grissini with Prosciutto ham Boursin cheese canapé Tuna salad in choux crust Ham roll with cheese Hot Spinach quiche Breaded Surimi with tartar sauce Mini Vol-au-vent with seafood Beef brochette with blue cheese sauce Chicken hot wings Fish fingers

But remember to tell everyone where they need to be in regards to photos, etc. It was sort of chaotic after the ceremony, bcz I forgot to tell the family & bridal part what was up after. So we spent a lot of time gathering everyone up for photos.
  7. This was mine: We ended up being a little a head of schedule at the reception, so we did the champagne toasts & dances about 15 minutes earlier than planned. Wedding Day - Timeline.xls
  8. Thanks Jilly! I could be a little more concious with my eating though. But I don't have the wedding goal anymore and I feel pretty happy where I'm at. It would be nice to get back to my wedding weight, but if I don't, I'll be okay. I just don't want to gain anymore weight! Don't worry about your breakfast. You are working out and doing so good! That's what your flex points are for. Plus, just think, if you weren't doing WW, you wouldn't even have thought twice about your breakfast this morning. That's the point! You are aware of everything you eat now and that will keep you on track. The minute you stop making yourself accountable, that is when it is easy to gain weight back. Exhibit A: Me! Ha Ha! Keep it up!!! I'm so proud of how far you've come!!!
  9. Jilly, you are the star student!! GOOD JOB! Sarah & Sarah, You girls are also doing great. Keep it up! Everything you are doing. Pretty soon, you will begin dropping weight and inches, then watch out!!! Seriously, you are right. You are both gaining muscle, but pretty soon that muscle will start buring the fat and the pounds will fall off and you'll contiune to lose inches too! Good Job to both of you!! I was down .8, so a total of 1.8 in one month...Uggg? I am really struggling with this last 5 lbs!! I'm not working out as much as I should be.

I think it took about an hour for my makeup, and at least 1 1/2 hours for my hair - I have LOTS of hair, and she put it up in rollers before she even started styling it. Like Rebecca said, allow yourself more time than you think you will need for hair and makeup - it's not worth it to be stressed out and running around at the last minute. Also, although people probably know this - if you are doing an updo, don't wash your hair the morning of the wedding. It's much easier to style "dirty" hair (not literally dirty, but you know!) than it is to style freshly washed hair. The style also tends to stay better. Oh, and if you can, definitely do a trial. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I had photos, but it was still good that we did a trial, b/c I had her change a couple of things for the actual wedding hairstyle. Even if you have to go to your local hairstylist, do that - and just take lots of photos for whoever does your hair at your DW. I think the dirty hair tip is probably good for people that don't have super fine hair like me. I had to wash it the morning of, otherwise, with the humidity, it would have looked super greasy. Maybe it has something to do with my hair being blonde too (it looks dirtier/darker when it's not washed). But she put SOOOO much product in it so she could work with it!
  11. Hey Jen, I just have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE your bouquet! I totally could have done that...Pink lilies! I love that vivid pink! BTW, I visited the Finnestera years ago. It is a breathtaking spot and I just loved your reception location. It was very elegant and romantic.
  12. I think it is SOOO gorgeous. What a bummer that it is uncomfortable. I agree with the girls, if the sleeves are the only thing you don;t like about it, talk to the seamstress. They have probably dealt with it all and will know exacltly what to do. If it is just everything about the dress, then you will have NO problem selling it. It is GORGEOUS!!!! Tammy - My stylist took about 2 hours to do my hair and make-up...not rushed. She arrived in my room around 1:15. I had ordered room service at ate while she was blow drying my hair. We weren't rushed so we were able to mess with my hair a little to get it just right without the stress of running late. I recommend gicing your self plenty of time. That way, if she finishes early, the photographer can get pic of you in your room and you can enjoy some champagne with your BM's without feeling stressed.
  13. OMG? Great pic's!!!! Such a gorgeous location. I am sorry to hear what happened with the photographer switch. That is WRONG and they shouldn't have done that! But luckily your pictures still came out beautifully. You look so gorgeous and you both look soo happy!
  14. Wow Natalie? Personalized luminaries? I Like it! I think the picture is a good size. I like the one on the left the best
  15. Thanks Jen. You just made me look at them again! The flower girl is my neice and if I don't say so myself, she is a beautiful little girl! Juan really captured her personality in the photos. It's pretty amazing how he did that! Can wait to see all of yours!!!! You looked so beautiful!! I can only imagine how gorgeous all of the other pic's are!! What's taking soo long?!?!?!?
  16. Oh thanks! We are still on here because we want to share with you girls. We want you to copy us! When I was planning my wedding, this forum was still so small, like 10 girls maybe and the only ones that had gotten married were Tammy (Host) and one other girl. We are only sharing the resources we wish that we had back then. This forum has grown SOOO big in only a year. Tammy has done an amazing job keeping up on it!!

I will try for a walk on Saturday, but that is the best I will do. TammyM, what happened to you, have not heard from you in a while. How is working out going for you? I think 3 days is fine! I think we should all try to workout a minimum of 3 days a week. We all have lives and things come up. A walk of Saturday would be awesome of you can squeeze it in! I went to my trainer last night I I will go again tomorrow night. Then I just have to work out over the weekend!
  18. Nope. They got to order on the spot. Another thing to keep in mind: Mariana said they were going to print menus for us with the selections. Well, when it was time to take orders, the servers were trying to recite what was on the menu in broken english. So I said, I think Mariana made special menus? And he said, No we don;t have anything Then Mariana rushed over with these cheezy photo copies and there were only enough for half our group! So they gave one to every other person. People would look and then pass their menu down to the next person!! And it was this flimsy photo copy paper folded in half like a brochure. SOO bad. I was a really embarassed and wished I had just printed my own menus on nice card stock and brought it with me. That would have been really easy and a lot less cheezy!
  19. Well I just happen to have the menu right here! Everything on it was good!! The restaurant is so quaint. It was perfect!
  20. Hi All, I heard about this place from a friend that vacationed here. If you are looking for a SMALL low key spot in Mexico for a wedding this is really beautiful. It is VERY small, only has 6 rooms, 4 bungalows and 4 suites? My friend said the restaurnat is amazing! Hacienda Eden on Troncones Beach near Zihuatanejo
  21. Actually, I tried to negotiate the rehearsal dinner, but they would only budge to $18pp vs $20pp. But I took it! We only had 40 at our rehearsal dinner. Bridal party and family only. They also wanted me to select two items. I begged for 3 items and they gave it to me! Are you having your rehearsal dinner at Portofino too? If so, I can tell you what was good!
  22. Thanks. It is really important to document every penny and build a cushion into your budget. Because things will come up and that way you won't go over. Just like anything else, stuff adds up fast and if you don't keep track, it could get you into trouble and add a lot of unnecessary stress! I got the luminaries from Maye for 2.00 each. Now, it is a paper bag and a tea light, you can do much better by bringing them yourself. I just didn't push it because I negotiated other things down with her. So I picked and chose what was more importmant to me, so I didn't seem like I was trying to screw her!
  23. Quote: Originally Posted by mexico15 It is a beautiful dress, but not the style I had in mind. I am not sure why I ended up getting it...I just loved every dress I tried on and I had tried on for 3 weeks. When I put this one on, his mom and sister starting crying, my mom LOVED it, and my dad's face turned really red (which means he loved it)...but what I didn't realize at the time was I CAN'T dance in it!! It has that off the shoulder sleeve thing in lace, so I can't raise my arms up. I LOVE dancing and that is the most important thing...espeically since Eric and I love to twirl around and be crazy. The second thing I don't like is the neck line...I had pictured more of a halter or V-like neck line. AND I LOVE sparkle ...the more beads and sparkle the better This dress just has a little along the top with the lace and on the side. Third, at my alteration appointment last night...the lady told me it is too hard to do that double bussle (whatever that is called) I can only the a single one which only puts my dress under once and touching the floor like a normal dress. I want poof in my trunk But she told me with this dress it just wouldn't work right and be too hard to do. I was balling last night when I got home! Eric was super sweet...he told me we can go and get another dress..."F" the money. But that is a lot of money to me. I was thinking of maybe finding a "lesser" fancy dress and wearing that when we come home for our other reception here. I just don't want this dress thing to ruin my day! I am so mad at myself for getting it now. It is a pretty dress, and I am sure I look good in it, but what was in my head and the dresses I keep seeing on you girls, has me upset that I listen to everyone else and just gave in to quickly. I do like the ebay thing...do you think I can get a dress and have it altered in less than 3 months? Or is that cutting it too close? Yes absolutely. especially if you get a dress at DB David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns T9303 Off-the-shoulder satin beaded ball gown. or Alfred Angelo Alfred Angelo : Find your dream dress : wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, prom dress, flower girl dress and more... ? Also something to consider is you can wear your current dress for the ceremony and then change into a second, more fun dress for the reception? One of the girls, Tara, did this for her wedding and it turned out great. Check out her photos here http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1833 Definitely, if you're crying and upset, then get a different dress. I'm sure you could sell it. Talk to Kash. She already has a buyer for her dress after the wedding. Also, you could try selling it on Craig's List?
  24. It's definitley not going to ruin your day. And with hair, make-up and jewelry, it might all come together really well. What is it about your dress you hate? Hate is a strong word and if you really feel that way and you are not going to feel beautiful the day of because of it, then I, personally, would got to David's bridal or somewhere like that and see if you can find something less expensive that you like. You could try to sell your new dress on Ebay and I'm sure you'll get something for it. There are lots of brides out there that would love to find an unworn designer gown, sold at a discount. That is somebody's dream dress. Maybe just not yours.
  25. Alright Christine!!! Just think, if you do exactly wahat you've been doing, it could be doulbe that in another 3 weeks. Keep up the excercise, it will really accelerate the weight loss! You can definitely do it. If I can do it, I know ANYONE can do it!!
