Viansa Winery

I tried a dress similar at David's Bridal. David's Bridal can be a little cheesy, but they do have some elegant dresses. I encourage everyone to just check them out. It will save you a ton of $$ if you find something. I got my dress there and it was $599. Granted, there were only 3 or 4 that I liked, but I ended up finding one that I loved! I feel pretty lucky!

My Edited Wedding Video

Your girls know how computer illiterate I am! I will ask the editor if he has any suggestions (for Dummies like me ) Seroiusly, I will see if I can load it onto some sort of program?? Suggestions are welcome if you girls know of any websites that do this sort of thing?? -
Hi Girls, I took your advice and had my raw footage edited. WOW? This guy did an amazing job! What a difference there is between raw footage and editing. There was 90 minutes of footage and he edited down to 22 minutes. It is perfect and not too long. Just long enough to keep your attention. The editor faded scenes together, enhanced the sounds of the ocean waves, our voices, took dark shadows away from peoples faces, etc. Right after the ceremony, when I was hugging everyone and laughing, he changed it to slow motion and played the song I chose (Crazy Love by Van Morrison). I looked so happy. I didn't cry at my ceremony, but I cried watching my video! After seeing the raw footage, and then that, I was so happy that I spent the money to have it edited. My friend made a surprise power point that they showed at the reception. Well, we added that as a menu option and also added Juan's slideshow. The resolution is really bad for Juan's slideshow though. It was designed for a computer, not video, so the clairty is not as good as it looks on the computer. The video editor worked on it all day and made it okay. We are going to leave it in anyway. Had I wanted to spend the money, the editor would have made his own montage with Juan's photos that was built for video. I also gave him some of Juan's wedding pictures on a CD and he incorporated them into the cover. Anyway, the editor said the quality of the video and some of the footage was pretty good. Sam Perches was the videographer. If you decide to go with him, make sure there are two camera men and have the groom clip a microphone on his jacket (we had one camera man (Sam)and no mic on my husband). As Sam moved around, our voices would come in an out because we were out of range, or I would be talking toward the ocean instead of facing the camera. Here is the info for the editor I used. I paid $140 for the whole thing and $10 extra per copy. What I would do again, What I would change

Natasha, This was great!! I wish I had something like this while planning my wedding! You answered so many questions I pondered over forever. Maybe I'll put my list together too. There are definitely a fe little things that i wish I had done differently. Just (little) things that I overlooked. -
Those were great!!!

Hey Christine, I just finished this whole process. We got legally married 11-7 and our wedding day was 11-12. You need a certified copy of your marriage license to do anything. What I would do is once you get married legally at the courthouse, send in the piece of paper with the payment (like $12 or something) BEFORE you leave for Mexico. That way, by the time you return from Mexico you will have the certified copy in your mail box. That it the main piece of paper you need to start anything. I was bummed because I didn't think to do that and sent away for my certified copy when I returned and had to wait another two weeks to get the process going. You first have to change your name at Social Security. You can fill out the form online first and either mail it in (with your birth certificate) or go down to the office (they take appointments). I chose to go into the office, because I hate waiting for the mail if I don't have to. There was an office close by my work. I went first thing in the morning, no appointment (with my paperwork filled out already & BC) and I was in and out in 15 minutes. Then the next day I had an appointment with the DMV and changed my name on my Drivers liscense. The DMV & SS office communicate and your information is transferred to the DMV within 24 hours of your name change at SS. You will still need your marriage license for the DMV (but they did not ask me for my birth certificate). After that I took my temporary drivers license and marriage license to my bank and they changed the names on my bank accout, issued me new checks and a new ATM card and that was it. It was alot less of a pain than I expected. From there you can just call your credit cards and change everything else over the phone. A couple of them want me to send a copy of my new drivers license, so I am waiting until that arrives. But the important accounts were successfully changed! Let me know if you have any questions??

maye's husband is a minister and officiated our ceremony. We picked the standard vows that Maye had and we had him read the lace ceremony (but just didn't wrap the lace, etc. We just like the wording. It was funny, it must have been the first time th minister read the ceremony, because he kept fumbling over his words, almost like he kept losing his place on the page. A couple times there were long pauses in between sentences. One of which was when he said "Marc do you take..........(long pause)........................ (still pausing)........ Rebecca to be your lawfully wedded wife...". Our ceremony was quick...someone clocked it at 6 minutes!!! I was thinking , it felt like at least 20! The guests weren't complaining thought, because it was HOT! Speaking of, I like the umbrella idea Natasha. Good thinking!

Very thorough review Natasha. Are you trying to steal my MOTM award??! ha Ha. It is funny, you used almost all of the same vendors I used. DJ Ricardo, The firedancers, the Trio, Maye... I noticed Maye was performing your ceremony? Or was she translating for the judge?? Everything really looked beautiful. If only we could get all the pro photos back...!!! I can't wait to see them!!

Hi Christie...welcome! Can I come to your wedding? Ha Ha just kidding. I have never been to Jamaica, but it is on my list of places to visit. I heard it is paradise there and sounds like it will be a perfect place for a wedding! Let us know of any DW questions you have!

Post your Hair and makeup ideas
REBECCA replied to EDYTA's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Here was the a picture from my trial by my stylist at home. I wanted little flowers too (as you can see in the photo). But Maye ended up ordering me GIGANTIC flowers, so I could only use one. Another thing I should have confirmed the day before. These were taken from a camera phone, so the quality isn't all that good. -
OOT Bags *good price*
REBECCA replied to TammyB's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I did OOT bags in lieu of favors. I had paper bags (gift bags) printed that said "Welcome to our Wedding Weekend" and our names and wedding date. I ordered them at My Wedding Reception Ideas Wedding Favors - Wedding Accessories - Wedding Party Gift Favors. I would have liked to do good beach bags, but it was too much. As it is, with all the goodies we put inside, we spent around $500. We just stuffed the bags with tissue paper and tied the handles together with ribbon and raffia. It served it's purpose. -
Just let Mariana know and have her send the menu to you in advance. They'll basicall create a menu of whatever you want. I'm sure it won't be the first time they have had Vegan meal requests.... They are soo busy these days! Thanks for the compliment on the Sig photo Edyta! That is one of my favorites. It will be a "framer".

She is American, I guess. I'm sure any stylist can replicate it.

Nothing was fantastic but there were a couple that could be okay: David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns S8551 All over beaded lace sheath gown This one would look good if I could love like 10 more pounds. Right now my stomach and hips don't look thyat great in it. David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns T8627 All over lace A-line, tea length gown This one is alright - fit okay but might be a bit too informal David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns T8792 Strapless organza A-line gown with ribbon details on waist and skirt trim. This one I liked except I had those weird little bulges near my armpits which I hate. But this dress is pretty - sort of reminds me of that Priscilla of Boston dress everyone likes so much David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns VW8893 Organza halter trumpet gown with ribbon trim on bodice and skirt. This one was nice but it was hard to tell because the sample was a too big on me after it was clipped it wasn't lying flat and smooth like the picture. Hey Kash... I tried those same last two! The last one was my contender with the dress I ended up with. I kept going back and fourth between the two. I agree with the other girls...there was no enthusiasm in your e-mail...none of them are THE ONE. I will keep my eyes peeled for Your Scarlet....

But my hair girl was not very confident. I have fine, straight hair. It doesn't really hold curl. So, she knew that the curl probably wouldn't hold all night and said she was more comfrtable pinning it loosely to hold it in place. I agreed, but told her I wanted it to look like it was about to fall out. She created the look I wanted and hair-sprayed the crap out of it. It felt like a stiff hair piece. And sure enough, during the reception , it was sort of soft again. So talk to your current hair stylist (in toronto) and just ask her for her suggestion with your hair type. They know best & you wnt your hair to look good all night long.
