  1. Just be careful because during some times of the year there are "Excess Baggage Embargos" which will limit (or in some cases not allow at all) extra baggage. For example here's the Continental Airlines Excess Baggage Allowance Embargo Dates: April 7, 2006 - April 19, 2006 June 4, 2006 - August 31, 2006 November 15, 2006 - January 15, 2007 Here's the link: http://www.continental.com/web/en-us...e/embargo.aspx ...I imagine the dates for 2007 will be similar. BUT not all airlines do this. Delta and Continental are notorious for these embargoes (I book a lot of international travel with excess baggage for my job) but American, Alaskan, Mexicana and AeroCalifornia don't really seem to do this at all.
  2. Thanks, Sarah! I've been trying to guess what it meant for weeks!
  3. I've been meaning to put up the pics since I came back and I finally got them up in my gallery. If you're interested in any of these properties you check out the pics there.
  4. What does OOT stand for anyway? I can't find the post that lead me to this sight (it's somewhere on these 9 pages!) but look bags for $0.79/each! That seems like a good deal! It's called the PROMO TOTE: http://cheaptotes.com/new_promo_tote.html These are $0.99 each and were the same kind I once goty at a wedding in the Bahamas - useful but less likely to be saved and used again: http://cheaptotes.com/gusett_non_woven_tote.html For an order of 50 bags the shipping was $9.99 If you want printing (one color) it's an additional$0.99 per bag Has anyone used this compazny before?
  5. Sarah, GREAT! Review! I was especially interested to hear about the Zip Line! I didn't even know they offered this in Caboa nd it's something me and my FI would definitely like to do! I also thought your review of Juan was very interesting. I am still not sure if we can afford his services but I am trying to learn as much as possible. So did you have to pay him for his time and then again during 5the wedding? Or was this like a trial run to decide is you want to use him? I'm going to go check out your pictures right now!
  6. Thanks Christa! Did you get to sample any of Baja Cantina's food. Maye sent me the menu too and I was thinking the Taco Bar for $21/person seems reasonable too. Are you doing their open bar plan or consumption? Has anyone eaten here at the Baja Cantina before? How is the food?

Hi Kristi, I can't wait to hear how your meeting with Emeline goes. Please post all the answers to your tyons of questions because I bet they are a lot of the same questions we all have! 9. I couldn't pick onyl three either! These are my votes (no particular order) 51, 27, 34, 15, 14, 13 You look so lovely - your dress is very pretty!
  10. Thanks Christa! It sounds like you may have saved many of us!
  11. Sarah - I'm glad you found your way back. I gave you 500 points so you can download the files now I owe you because I stole a LOT from your website You'll figure out the new forum soon - it takes a few days.
  12. Jenny, that sound wonderful! Could you send me the info for Sunrider?
  13. I found these pictures online of other people "cupcake" cakes! This first one is obviously VERY extravagant and I guess more expensive than a regular cake but it sure is cool. This version is simple but still lovely! Yum!
  14. Did Emeline get your flowers/music all that stuff? Her prices I've heard are high but I can't figure out if I'm spending more by have an outside coordinator or if I'm saving in the end... Also I don't speak Spanish (though i took 6 years of it in school!) so I don't know if I'd be able to negotiate with vendors on my own. Did you do this (do you speak Spanish?).
  15. That's reall ynot bad at all! I'm trying to come up with a plan to get everyone together the night before (maybe two nights before) the wedding to just have fun - maybe a smores bonfire and drinks would be fun for everyone! Are you working with another coordinator or just Emeline? Sorry for so many questions!!!
  16. Welcome Ruth! What a great mom you are! I'm sure you'll be able to plan a great wedding - especially since you've found this forum. Your daughter's wedding will be even better because she has your support and help putting it together.
  17. Good to know! By the way are you doing a bonfire on the beach for your smores? I wasn't sure how it worked. Is there an extra charge for this?
  18. Do you guys have a good contact for the places Christa mentioned? I like the taco bar at Baja Cantina idea too... I still think i want to do a separate rehearsal dinner for our families because my parents and my FI parents have only ever met once and that was 5 years ago when we graduated from college! It would be nice to have a special dinner with them (I'm thinking Casa Natalia for this)... but that could always be Sunday too... I think if I could do the Welcome Dinner/Drinks for less than $3000 I think we can swing it... and you guys are right I dn't have to freak out just yet... I mean the wedding isn't for 9 months!
  19. I think the smores bonfire might a fun idea! Maybe we can do a like a post dinner bonfire with drinks and dessert... Do you have any recommendations of places other than the Hilton? Their prices are pretty high PLUS since we're doing the ceremony and recption there is woul dbe a nice change of pace to pick someplace else. But then again that brings up the whole issue of transportation! Christa, You are totally right about having everyone meet and not necessarily footing the bill as well! I wonder if the Hilton will allow outsider guest to at the pool/beach area... I'll have to ask MariaElena to see if she knows!
  20. Very cute! Is the Hilton providing the yellow table clothes and chair bows? Was there any charge for them? Emeline had said she'd include chair bows but I forgot to ask her about colored linens...
  21. That is great info! Thank you so much for putting up all the atytachments - who knows, Emeline might end up with two starfish themed weddings! Thank you SO much! I Love the Starfish legend! That is such a wonderful thought and idea. It that what's tied to each starfish?
  22. Who are you all inviting to your Rehearsal Dinner? I read somewhere that for Destination Weddings you're "supposed" to invite everyone. I would love to have everyone there but I don't know how to have a whole other dinner/drinks without adding like 5K to the budget... which we can't really afford. I know a lot of people have had Welcome Dinners and Good-bye brunches and I'm wondering how you managed to do this without going way over on budget. While I love the Hilton it is definitely one of the best reasons to have your wedding at an AI! Any thought? Does anyone know of a restaurant with prices low enoough to do this without spending like $100/head (including the 25% tax/gratuity that's on everything). I'm really worried about this! All these people who I adore are coming from around the country and in a few cases the world to be with us and I would love to be able to do more with them... This is how I'm starting to feel when I think about this (hee hee hee)
  23. Karla, how many people are you having? OK, I just realized that I posted three responses in a row... probably could have combined those into one! Sorrrrrrrrrrry!
  24. Felicity, Janet is totally right, as long as your guest list is small and you consider an All-Inclusive I think you can do it. Just decide what's important to you and spend your money on those things... cut from the rest. My plan was very much the same and I think if we had been able to do it (without before mentioned parental intervention) for about 11K for 50 people. So it can be done! The problem is not adding in the extras later!
