  1. I know - I am really nervous about the DJ! I can't imagien they're going ot be very good... I'm leaning towards an iPod, a fancy soound system and designating a friend to be in charge. Has anyone done this successfully yet? Hmmm... maybe I'll post a new thread for that question - seems ripe for discussion! to iPod or not ti iPod - that is the question.
  2. Those are fantastic! I have no idea how you were able to do all of that but they are seriously amazing! Thge nicest I've ever seen - and you made them yourself which makes them a special keepsake for everyone. (FYI: You look gorgeous and thin in that picture!)
  3. So I'll go first! 1) I want to lose! 2) I don't know yet 3) 15 - 20 pounds 4) I would really like to ose 5 lbs. within the next month to make dress shopping less depressing. And I'd like to lose at least 15 by June 16, 2007 - my wedding!
  4. OK, so here is our official Weight Watchers thread (Part 1). This is for people are doing WW, have done WW, or any other weight management plan! It's also a thread for all those thin ladies who exercise and eat right to give the rest of us some tips on how to avoid bad foods and behaviors! So here are some starting questions: 1) Are you trying to lose, maintain, tone/firm or gain weight? 2) How many points (or calories, or carbs, or whatever it is you may be counting) are you aiming to eat a day? 3) How much weight do you want to lose (if you DO want to lose)? 4) When are you trying to lose by? For your wedding?
  5. Thanks ladies! I'm definitely going to join - I think that it'll be a lot more motivating to be a part of the program officially in the beginning and also increased accountability helps! I'm going to start a WW thread (not that I know anything about it just yet)...
  6. I think #1 is really gorgeous and something a bit different. I've voted #1 but I do think you need to decide if it's going to be too hot though - it does look like heavy material. But since your wedding is early May it may not be too hot at all. I guess the real question is formality -- the first dress is a lot more formal. How formal is the rest of your wedding?
  7. Jenesis, honestly I don't know because we're going to be doing our legal paperwork here in the states. Maybe MariaElena knows?
  8. Stephanie - you look gorgeous! What kind of cut is the dress (I'm still trying to figure it all out). It's really pretty - plus you got to love a good deal!
  9. Thanks Janet! Great spreadsheet! How do you figure out how many points you're suppose to eat in a day?

I can't decide. i think you might be right. Orange, while a great color IS a little hard to wear. Maybe I'm biased because it looks awful with my skin-tone. But really it's your wedding - if you find a beautiful burnt orange (tell them it's "sienna" ) dress that's perfect then I say go for it!
  11. Kristina - good idea about the weekly threads for diet/exercise! Here's today: 1) Exercise: 1 hour stationary bike & upper body weights 2) I've decided I'm going to join Weight Watchers for the extra support and structure I need. 3) Food: Breakfast: Sunrise quesadilla (low carb wheat tortilla w/ cheese and fake meat (I'm a veg + seafood = "faux vegetarian" as I prefer to call it). & strawberries Lunch: fake chicken w/ pesto and pasta, pineapple slice Dinner: Soy jalapeno "cheeseburger" w/ lettuce, mayo & ketchup (no bun) and a salad w/ chopped walnuts, sliced grapes & blue cheese w/ vinagrette Dessert: 1/2 an oatmeal choc-chip cookie (FI made them last night)
  12. Rebecca, That's a great idea! Plus if it looks like you do your registry through them (to all the regular stores like Macy's, Linens & Things, REI, Amazon, Bloomies, Pottery Barn, etc. etc.) they donate a proceed of the money spent to your favorite charity!
  13. Southest asia! Thailand is my dream vacation right now.. but also to travel all over South america! And europe... ok, so pretty much everywhere - guess that's not very helpful.
  14. That is so true - We do have some people "graduating" pretty soon!
  15. Christa, Is this something you're suppose to wear under foundation or instead of foundation? Honestly I don't wear any of it and I'm totally make-up illiterate as well!
  16. Maybe a "Dealing with In-Laws" thread? While my in-laws-to-be are wonderful I know enough people who have issues. And sometimes it's not like they don't like them it's just about finding a way to mesh into a new family and vice-versa (you FI/husband with your own parents). I think because my parents are so different from us and from my FI's parents that sometimes he gets overwhelmed with our loud voices, and craziness in general. It's an especially interesting mix with cross-cultural couples. Just my 2 cents! Seems like it would definitely need to be a private thread though you wouldn't want your MIL showing up one day and reading all about how you couldn't stand her! Tammy, do you have enough "after" brides to keep you company if you don't allow pre-ceremony peeps in? I think it's a good idea too - something to look forward to - but only if there's enough people (otherwise it's no fun!).
  17. Thank god those truffles aren't here! I'm officially sick. It sucks - I feel terrible and any sort of will to resist delicious food is out the door.
  18. Has anyone actually tasted to food here? I think we're going to do a RD/Welcome Party here and I'm just wondering if the food is any good?
  19. I think my budget is: $100 for my bouquet (I'm not having BMs or a MOH) $800 for the rest (including $350 for a chupah on the beach) $15 grooms boutinere (sp?) $200 (guesstimate) on other decor items So maybe like $1300?
  20. I went to a small wedding at the Venetian once. The ceremony was one of the bridges that cross the canal and it was cute. After they said their "I Do's" they took a gondola ride on the canal and everyone blew bubbles at them when they crossed under the bridge. It was cute. BUT it was super hard to find (those casinos are built so you can never get out..or find the bathroom!). The reception was then upstairs in like a reception room but honestly the room wasn't much to speak of - just one of those double suites with the furniture taken out and the tables put it.
  21. Thanks Christa! Sarah, it's nice to know I'm not alone! I guess we'll have to learn a lot from the other ladies before we get married!
  22. No wonder you're having trouble picking - these are all really great options! But you know how I feel about cupcakes/individual cakes! Plus, since you have the benefit of a very small wedding I think the mini cakes w/ a green orchid would really be something special that people will remember and talk about for years to come. It's something different but very lovely. So my vote is optoion #4 mini-cakes. Runner up is single layer mini-cake. (even if these are a lot cheaper I think these would also be very special)
  23. I think as long as you're really clear with your seamstress you'll be fine! Just make sure she knows that you want/need some extraq support.. not to mention some oomph!
  24. I guess I am! Now let's see if I actually DO any of these things!
