  1. We stayed at one place but then went to see abot a million. i dont' think you need to move around. Since you have more time definitely contact the hotels you're interested in and see what they can offer you. No one offered us a free trip before we signed the contract I think what Natasha said is completely true. It's funny because the places we expected to love we didn't like at all. The places we thought would be low on our list ended up being our favorite! So I think it's really important to keep an open mind - you will love what you find! What three places are you thinking about? A lot of ladies have written great reviews after returning from thei sight visits and it might be helpfulto review those as well incase there's places you want to add!
  2. Thanks ladies! Sarah - It's funny because the meeting I went to yesterday was all about eating in a that's sustainable for life. The big thing they also said is that you will actually lose more wieght by eating all your points than skimping. You have a tougher situation that most people though -it must be so hard to work crazy hours and find the time to sit and eat a good meal. I think if you even just bring somethings that are easy to pack and easy to eat while you work you could really get all those points in and lose MORE weight! (plus you get to eat... which I love). The nuts are a great idea in my opinion - especially almonds. At WW they told us we're suppose to be trying in incorporate 2 tsp. of olive or canola oil a day into our meals. I thinkt he almonds would also meet this requirement because they are high in Omerga 3s Good work so far!
  3. Tammy - Did you decide which one you want to do? They're all gorgeous so I think no matter which you pick you will be happy!
  4. I was thinking something like the circle of love (though I didn't think of such a clever name!). On the Hilton's website here is a really nice version that looks very simple to put together (for your WC): http://www.emarketing360.com/Hilton/...B/java/31.html Worse comes to worse you could literally buy one of those round side tables (they're like $10 at target) that are unfinished and are sold flat in the boxes with the three legs that screw in and ship it to your WC ahead of time. Let me see if I can find one online to show you what I'm talking about. It would be even better if the costco there has one!... okay after some serious searching they are called "Decorator tables" and here is one for $6.99 http://annaslinens.stores.yahoo.net/dectb.html I actually have two of these in my house that I painted and then put a glass tops on (they sell the glass if you want it but I don't think you need it. Honestly it's not even that heavy - you could just bring it with you and give it to your WC the day before...
  5. Maye sent me two: The larger one is $350 and the smaller on is $250. The larger one is made of logs and the smaller one is bamboo. The flowers aren't included. We're going to do the smaller one - maybe with some gerber daisies or something colorful but simple. I was assuming set-up is included but I will have to double check. This one's $350 (with set-up?) This one's $250 (with set-up?)
  6. Yup - that was it! It kind of leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth about them. Maybe it's left over from the bad taste WIP left Jen, I did go to a reeally nice (but fancy) restaurant called Tequila's in San Jose which had a whole tequila dn cigar humidor. The dinner menu was delicious but expensive. However I tequila tasting might be more affordable - especially since late June is off-seasoon a bit. Check it out: http://www.loscabosguide.com/dining/...restaurant.htm I don't know what your budget is but my guess is this place is pretty expensive.
  7. Rebecca you are my role model! That is exactly what I want to do! How many sizes did you go down? I am hoping to just get down a few (to start!) so I can start trying on dresses without getting disgusted. You are right - 2 more pounds and I'm 25% there already!
  8. I don't know about Garcias but I have to admit I remember hearing some negative reviews of Pancho's on the old forum. SOmething about them raising the prices at the last minute... does anyone else remember this?
  9. Tammy, Who know, maybe all the pacing you're doing trying to get your MIL out of the house will burn away those last 5 pounds!
  10. So I went to get wqeighwed after joining last friday and even with eating off plan on Saturday i still lost 3 pounds! Yay! Tammy, I'm not sure why only 15 minutes of cardio - maybe so you don't start burning muscle mass away? I do know that in the past when I worked with a trainer they really emphasized using weights that are heavy enough. A lot of girls think they'll bulk up but it's reall ynot true. But what is true is that you tone a lot faster if you use weights heavy enough to burtn out your muscles each time. I've always been told to alternate muscvle groups each day - i.e. upper body one day and lower body the next. But for your lower body it sounds like if you're doing squats and lunges then you could do them every day. Rebecca, Great advice! So I'm taking tomorrow off of work so the weekend is coming soon! I'm excitred to NOT work but not excited to resist all the delicious foods and drinks that seem to be present over the weekends!
  11. My friends sent me this email... thought PV Brides may be interested in checking it out! ... "The link below is the place I stayed for a week for my friend's wedding. On the left of the page under NAVIGATION, there are photos of all the the different areas of the villa. It was so nice because it was ONLY about 30 people that were all attending the wedding that stayed there. There were about 50 or so total people at the wedding, and the other 20 stayed at a nice little hotel walking distance down the road. I never saw it! You could go out snorkeling or kayaking off of the rocks in the front (ocean-side) area of the villa. I never even left to go into the town. Anyway, it was absolutely the most awesome event I have attended and certainly a place I would recommend for anyone thinking about a big ol' party in Puerto Vallarta…. Check it… http://www.villamia2.com/photoalbum.htm"
  12. I got this from the WW website and it sounds tasty - especially as the weather starts to cool down... Cream of Broccoli Soup WW POINTS value | 2 Servings | 4 Preparation Time | 14 min Cooking Time | 20 min Level of Difficulty | Easy Ingredients 1 medium onion(s), chopped 1 medium garlic clove(s), minced 2 pound broccoli, tough ends removed, stems and florets chopped 4 cup fat-free chicken broth, or vegetable broth 1 cup fat-free evaporated milk 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce, or to taste 1/4 tsp table salt, or to taste 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste Instructions: 1. Put onion and garlic in a 2-quart saucepan with 1/4 cup water and simmer until onion is soft, about 10 minutes; spoon vegetables into a large pot. 2. Add broccoli and broth to onion mixture and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, turn down heat and simmer until broccoli is soft but still green, about 8 minutes. Do not cover pot while broccoli is cooking or it will turn gray. 3. Remove soup from heat; puree until smooth in batches in a blender or puree in pot using an immersion blender. (Note: Be careful not to overfill blender to prevent the hot liquid from splattering.) Add evaporated milk and hot pepper sauce to soup; season to taste with salt and pepper. Yields about 1 3/4 cups per serving. Notes: Fresh chives perk up the flavor of cream soups. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of minced chives over each serving. Or, if available, garnish each bowl with 1 chive blossom.
  13. Good tips natasha! I DO eat sushi and LOVE it! Yum - I'm glad I can eat it - maybe the next time someone 3wants to go out to eat I'll suggest sushi! What's wrong with the edamame? My FI buys it at Trader Joes (the frozen bags) and it never ocurred to me that it would be bad for you. Is it the salt? Sarah - I'm glad you made it over! I had a weekend where I ate lots of food BUT I have ot say I'm feeling good! You know at the meetings you don't have to say anything by the way - you can just sit in the back and listen to what people have to say. I''ve only been to the one meeting but they had some good tips. For example I learned about this website; http://www.hungry-girl.com - which seems pretty cool and has some good ideas dfor tasty low calorie (or point) food. So today I went one point over my daily limit but I guess that's what the "flex points" are for. When I counted myself I was exactly at 22 (my daily point limit) BUT when I inputed it into the website it came out with one point more than I thought... I have to say I'm very excited about doing this and finally losing some weight! I want to look beautiful and thin in my wedding dress!
  14. Good to know about the exercise points! I thought it was just tracking my exercise online but then it did that weird thing. I have no idea how it calculated the points I just plugged in the 50 minutes of strength training and 10 minute warm-up on the treadmill... oh well - I'm just going to ignore that part. I think it's better to not add food in just because I exercised anyway (at least for now). By the way I love you new picture! So I could be crazy but I weoighed myself today and I'm already down from friday! I'm really excited because I find that (at least during the week) it;s really easy to stay on plan. I love thje points (versus core) because I feel like I get to eat what i want... What happened to Sarah? I thought she was going to join us... Sarah - are you out there?
  15. jackie - how much do the speakers cost? i can't imagine they'd be as expensive as renting them! It's ridiculous. may esaid the price is: $150/ hour for system $75 for microphone (I htnk this is flat but I'm not entirely sure) $60 technician to set it up (again i hoe this is for the night and not per hour!) ______________ 5 hours = $885 for the night A DJ is quoted by maye as $215/ hour so 5 hours =$1075 So for an extra $190 I guess we coul dhave someone sitting there running our iPod instead... Christa - do you think the speakers are loud enough to compete over the surf? I'm just nervous the music will be lost in the air if we don't get a big sound system. BUT it sounds like it was verysuccessful at your party! Toes - I can't wait to hear if it works at your dad's 60th! Are you having an outdoor party?
  16. Thanks Rebecca. Since we ate so late on Sunday and breakfast was like noon and "lunch" was 5pm I just wasn't that hungry. But you are definitley right - next time I'll just put together a nice salad. I have to say that today i felt like the amount of food was perfect - in fact I'm a little stufed after dinner! How does the exercise points work? They didn't explain that part to me and when I inputed today's exercise it added four points back to my flex points - is that right? Are you suppose to use your exercise like that? It seems so weird to eat more just because you exercise - feels like you're wasting it... what do you do?
  17. So after some thought it seems like a huge waste of money to hire some crappy DJ who doesn't have any of the music we like... So I think we want to go the iPod route - has anyone done this successfully yet? What equipment do I need my coordinator to get for us?
  18. If you look ta the top of this page you'll see: Best Destination Wedding Forum > Ladies Lounge > Chit Chat Corner! > Beauty, Exercise, Diet > Weight Watchers Forum Click on the link for "Weight Watchers Forum" and that will bring you to the folder where you can post up new threads for recipes, tips etc. I went and picked upt hat bread last night and I also found these Dannon Light/Fat-Free yogurts that only have 60 calories so they're only 1 point. I love eating yogurt and grnola for Breakfast so with 1/3 a cup of granola it's only 3 points and very delicious! I'm basically planning on avoiding restaurants for awhile. When I did go out to eat this weekend I ordered the seafood soup which was really nice - not oily or anything. (we went away this weekend). But what did me in yesterday was an omelette at the restaurant. Even though it was egg substitute byt he time you count all the servings in there you're in trouble. But I counted ut all up when I got home and realized my breakfast was all the points for the day! Yuck. So I had a sandwhicvh foir lunch and used like 6 of those flexpoints and then just skipped over dinner. So in the end it didn't turn out bad at all (considering). BUT I'm happy to be home and back in an environment I can control... I dont' eat chicken but I did buy some veggie broth that I'm thinking I can make a really delicious low calorie/low fat soup with. Yum! I love soup... especially now that it's a little chilly outside (even here in LA).
  19. There's also Sol Melia Cabo Real (on the corridor next to the Hilton and Casa del Mar) which you should definitely check out as well. It shares the same swimmable beach as the Hilton and while we didn't end up doing the tour with the coordinator I do have contact info if you're interested (send me a Private message if you want the name/number and I'll dig it out for you). These websites have some comprehensive lists: http://www.loscabosguide.com/hotels/inclusive.htm http://www.allinclusivescabo.com This is what the second website lists and my opinions: San Jose del Cabo: El President Intercontinental - Very nice Royal Solaris Los Cabos - terrible Crowne Plaza (formerly Faro del Cabo) - ?? Grand Baja Resort & Spa - A friend stayed here and loved it Fiesta Inn - no idea Corridor Resorts: Dreams Los Cabos Sol Melia Cabo Real - very nice - great for golfers Calinda Beach Resort - never heard of it but only a "3 star" and this is Mexico. Cabo San Lucas Resorts: RIU Palace Costa Real Resort (downtown) - never heard of it
  20. I often use TripAdvisor to get an idea of places (I love the candid photois section) BUT it's sort of like the local news. By this I mean that people who have terrible experiences are more likely to actually go and post where the millions of people that have a terrific experience may never even think about going online to post about the place. So therefore I think that's why there are a lot of negative things up on Trip Advisor... just my 2 cents!

It's is so hard for me to stay on a program when I'm at home!! I'm alittle concerned when I get to Cabo too. We will be there 4 days before the wedding. I am going to have to be really good eating & drinking for 4 days in a hotel. That's hard! I can't get bloated or my dress won't fit. It sounds like you're doing great! You're going to look fantastic on your wedding day - don't worry! I am EXACTLY the same on the weekends! I can eat well all week long and do great but as soon as the weekend rolls around it s impossible to eat right. What I've found is really my biggest downfall is going out to eat. I love it! I love being out with friends, having great food, not having the worry about cooking or cleaning... but there's a reason restaurant food tastes so much better than my food at home... it's all the fat and sugar they add! I mean who would ever melt a stick of butter into their pasta sauce? But that's why their food always tastes so good... i wonder if I would eat any of it is I actually knew what was in it! OK, I'm on my way to the store (defintyiely have to look for that bread!) to stock up on good for you/ low-point food!
  22. rebecca, that is so exciting! we should definitely start a folder - I'll send Tammy a PM so she can put one up (I don't know how to). Are you doing any exercises for your arms? I find that free weights working your shoulders, biceps & triceps can really show some results pretty quickly...
  23. Good tip Rebecca! I'll have to find it next time I go grocery shopping. Right now I'm eating the Orowitz whole wheat and it's 1 point/slice - but because of the high fiber they're noce big peices
  24. OK, so today I went anmd signed up for WW and I am really excited about it! There are two plans available: 1) "Flex Points" where you are given a certain number of "points" you can eat based on your current weight (the more you weigh the more food your body needs to run!) and you can eat anything in the world - you just have to count every bite! What I do like is that you also get an extra 35 "points" to use during the week so if you have a craving for a cookie or a run and diet coke you can count it there without having to starve yourself before/after. 2) The second option is called the "Core Program" - this is a specific list of foods that you can basically eat to your heart's content. There a a few items which are restricted to like one time a day (i.e. you can choose ONE of these items to eat once a day: whole wheat pasta, potato, whole wheat bread). And you can even switch back and forth (one week on one and one week on another) based on what kind of plans you have that week.
