Here's the details for Continental Airlines (I don't know what your flyign downthere but since this is what MariaElena fly I htought I'd go with it: Checked baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance will be charged as follows: $100 per piece Over 50 pounds (23kg) - Contact Continental Airlines Reservations to obtain specific rate and maximum weight allowance based on destination. Baggage weighing more than 70 lbs (32 kg) will not be accepted as checked baggage. Here's the date they won't accept Excess baggage (you're in the clear but just barely!): Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) November 15, 2006 - January 15, 2007 March 30, 2007 - April 11, 2007 June 4, 2007 - August 31, 2007 I think they will allow 1 peice extra subject to availability... Here's the website: http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...e/embargo.aspx hmm.. maybe I should post that up on a new thread for other brides getting married between now and January...

You can definitely just pay for overweight items - as long as you are not flying during an "excess baggage embargo" - which is usually on Continental and Delta during high traffic seasons... hold on I'll see if I can find the pages with dates for you (good to prepare for this ahead of time - just in case)...

Wedding dress!
gkashmira replied to BEACHBRIDEMA's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love it! I'm especially fond of the chiffon skirt - flows so beautifully! -
Rebecca - these are great recipes! I definitely want to try both (with veggie-dogs and fake chicken of course ) YUM! I love those crescent rolls and haven't had them since I was a child... BTW I am loving the alternative bagels!

Christa - You look great on your dress! and I do see what you mean about elongating your waist and making it look so small! And thank you for the "Adventurous - hikes & bikes" sometimes its true and sometimes it's not! hee hee hee... I think your arms look great - athleticis good! But not flabby (which is my concern)- I agree the strapless is working! I think i need to ask Tammy to edit my poll to remove (so generic) from the A-Line part - I think it's confusing people (i.e. I would be confused if I read it!)

OK, so I've been doing WW for about 3 weeks and I've lost 1 inch around my waist and hips (yii-peee!) and about 5 pounds (I lost 1 lb. but then managed tyo gain it back in one day when my friend was visiting and we went out for Mexican food and I ate chips and salsa and drank 1/2 a margarita... But I think I'm back down now. So anyway I thought I'd pass along some of the stuff that's been working for me: 1) Water. This stuff is like a miracle weight loss elixir! I should bottle it and sell it as an "amazing weight loss tool - just drink 2 quarts a day and you are sure to lose weight - gaurenteed!" Seriously - this stuff is no joke. 2) Tomatoes - I love them. 1 cup has 0 points! I like to eat a handful of cherry tomatoes with my lunch. 3) Progresso Garden Vegetable soup (low-sodium sometimes) - 3 points and delicious and filling. Today I added one serving of Trader Joe's tortilla chips and had a tasty lunch for like 6 points... 4) Low fat cream cheese or goat cheese - add one Tbsp. to any bland pasta sauce and for 1 point you now have a delicious "rich" (but not fattening) cream sauce. 5) Dreamfields pasta. It's half "whole wheat" and half regular semolina. And comes out to half the points of regular pasta (which means you can eat either more of it or opt for something extra). 6) Trader Joe's Pomodoro Sauce - 1/2 cup = 1 point. I have other jars of stuff in my fridge that are like 2 or 3 points oer 1/2 cup. Plus it's delicious. 7) Western "Alternative" Bagel (1 pt.) with 1 tbsp. low fat cream cheese (1 pt. is one hell of a delicious snack! Pria 110 calorie bars - 2 points and great in the afternoon at work for a 3pm snack. 9) Shopping. There's nothing more motivazting than going shopping and having clothes start to look good again yay! 10) Pickles. Ok, so I guess I should eat too many of these guys 'cuase they're loaded with salt - BUT they are great if you're craving something salty/crispy and basically 0 points. 11) Dannon light n fit fat free yogurt - no sugar added. Find the one thaty's 60 calories and it only has 1 point (versus the 2 the rest of them have) 12. Low fat granola - 1/3 cup is more than enough and plop it in your yogurt for a 3 point breakfast. 13. lean Cuisines - I love the Santa Fe Rice & Beans. It's creamy and delicious and has 6 points (even though the box says it has 5 - I plugged the info into the website and it comes up as 6) 14. Polenta - pre-cooked (slice into rounds and "fry" in cooking spray). Filling and delicious w/ pasta sauce. 15. Quorn Naked (fake chicken in the frozen section) - 1 peice - 1 pt. So I haven't quite incorporated to exerrcise part but i figure one step at a time or I'll get overwhelmed... Anyway I hope my list can help something else. the biggest thing is the water - man that stuff really works!

Great advice Janet - a V-neck sounds like a good idea - helps balance all the skin showing on my arms! BTW When I wrote "A-Line" (so generic) I didn't mean the style of dress was generic it just seems like everything I look at says "A-Line" and then they're all different! You did a perfect job descriing your dress!

Kristi - I'm so happy to hear your dad is doing better! That must have been so hard for you - and what a relief to know it didn't spread! By any chance did you snap any pics of the weddings? What kind of flowers (or color flowers did they do?

Have you heard of this baker?
gkashmira replied to TammyB's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
You guys are seriously too funny! My favorite is tammy's "hideen gems." They could be fine - a lot of vendors down in Cabo don't have websites and to be honest we only ever talk about a few bakers on here. But are these the same people that want to charge you for a tasting? If so i would definitely taste before I buy... or just get your own baker of course. And if you end up at a resort then you can just have them make the cake! -
Kelli - Maybe you can ask your FI to ask his sister (or say somethign to her directly if you guys are close) to say a little something to her like, "Mom, I hope you don't plan on showing as much skin at James's wedding as you did at mine!" Even just having someone say one thing might make her re-think he low-cut tops... hopefully. Otherwise you may just have to accept and move on!

Well maybe I'll rephrase to say "What is the most flattering cut for not super thin people?" OK, I changed some of my posts so people will stop calling me crazy. But seriously - the only reason you guys think I'm thin is that I only post pictures of myself where I look thin! That and I photoshopped my "proposal" pic on my website to make me look thinner (and take some cars out of the background)... hee hee hee

I've decided it's Mexico, it's my wedding day and I want to wear a dress that I like, not something to hide my flaws. So on sleeves - halter or stapless would be my pick - cap seem to make arms just look bigger and any type of sleeve in Mexico just sounds too hot! I have a friend who is FF and she did a drop waist and it looked really pretty on her and very flattering. An a-line although generic is pretty flattering on everyone. I'm sure you'll look beautiful no matter what you pick though! Sarah M Thanks Sarah M! I think you have a good plan (wear what you like and dont' worry about the rest). I'm sure you look great! How did you lose so much weight? Any particular plan or strategy you can pass on? I'm doing Weight Watchers and I really like it. I haven't lost much (like 4 pounds so far) but I have high hopes!

Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar Resort & Spa: "Beautiful resort, we had the most wonderful wedding there!" Posted: Jul 24, 2006 New York, NY My experience with this property took place in: June, 2006 Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely! I recommend this hotel for: Young singles, An amazing honeymoon, A romantic getaway, Girlfriend getaway, People with disabilities, Older travelers, Great pool scene, Families with young children, Families with teenagers, Tourists I do not recommend this hotel for: Pet owners I selected this hotel because ... Beach / Sun My age: 25-34 Traveling group: Friends My visit was for: Personal event (wedding, ...) Review: My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort and Spa from June 9th to 16th. We had our wedding on the resort grounds on June 11th. About 30 of our friends who came to attend our also stayed at the resort for various lengths of times. Everyone thought the resort was beautiful and had a great time. The grounds of the resort are very well kept, there are winding paths and fountains, everywhere you go there are beautiful tropcial plants and flowers. We stayed for 6 days and still did not walk through the entire premise, which is 26 acres. The old Spanish architecture is beautiful, the villas are in shades of orange, yellow and light pink. The pools are large and very clean, we stayed by the Infinity pool most of the times, which attracts the most people since it's at the front and center of the resort and also has the best view. But it never gets overly crowded and we were always able to find a chair. The service staff at the resort were mostly very pleasant and helpful. Our events coordinator onsite Irma who coordinated our wedding is so sweet and did a wonderful job. Our wedding ceremony took place at the Palapa Fiesta and our reception was at De Cortez restaurant, which served delicious food! We had the best wedding we could have ever asked for and all our guests had a great time. There are many nice resorts along the Corridor in Cabos but I have to say the Sheraton is one of the best ones. Many other resorts do not have such nice grounds and interesting architecture as the Sheraton. When you are in the resort you feel like you are in this lush paradise, which is totally different than the dry, dessert like landscape of Cabo. The resort is also only about 10 minutes drive from the town Cabo San Lucas, which makes it so easy to just go and grab dinner. I can't imagine staying any further from town. We will definitely stay at the Sheraton again when we come back to Cabo, probably on our one year anniversay! Thanks ladies - but really it's an illusion! I just happened to have picked a pick for my avatar where I look thin (which is why I picked it actually!). And Sarah - you are certainly no whale (but maybe you're as crazy as one for thinking you are ) Seriously - have tried on some white/ivory dresses and I have to say there is nothing more unflattering on me! To be honest it's not that I'm huge - it's just that I have a thick waist (basically NO waist!) and it seems like every dress I try on seems to emphasize that fact (instead of reduce it)
-
So as many of you know I am trying to shed some pounds before I head to the stores to try on dresses. But I'm hitting up against needing to start serious dress shopping in the next month or so (to give enough time for it to be made/fitted etc.) So on that note I thought it would be a great idea to take a poll and get some feedback on what the best styles are for a "full-figured" bride. I'm not exactly "full-figured" but I'm not very thin either so I'd really like to find something that's flattering and can create the illusion of a waist (which I don't have much of) Now none of you actually ARE FF brides but perhaps yo've been to some weddings or seen some pics, etc. and could give me your honest opinion. I keep reaching for empire waist but then people might htink I'm pregnant! I certainly don't want anyone asking me the due date at my wedding! Thoughts, experiences, references, styles to stay away from? Also a seperate queston about sleeve-length: Ok, so I've read that ladies with big arms/shoulders should avoid dresses that reveal these areas... um has anyone ever even seen a dress that's not strapless, or sleeveless? And wouldn't a dress with long sleeves look ridicululous at a beach wedding in June in Mexico?!? What do you think is most flattering Sleeve length: Strapless Halter Spagetti Cap Sleeves Full sleeves 3/4 sleeves Sleeveless 1-inch straps What do you think is the best dress length? Floor length Tea length Just below knee-length Knee length
