There's actually a few people who weren't even going to invite (from college and stuff) and one frined told the other two and they got so excited that they called us and were, "we can't wait! It's goign ot be so fun - we're going to make a vacation of it... blah blah blah..." and it'll be fin to have then there but I NEVER would have though thtey would come. And it's not like they're here in LA either and it's a quick flight - they all are in the NE. So anyway the lesson to learn is unless you are prepared for 100 people up you may not want to invite every person you would invite to a local wedding...
  2. If you're eager to get started you could even go to Vistaprint and create your magnet - save it to your account and when the freebie option becomes available jump on it! I actually did something a little weird which was I did regular STD cards (also from Vistaprint - also "free" though I bought extra and uploaded my own images). And then I got like 50 magnets which I sent out together only to people who were really close to us and who I knew planned on coming. So not every person my parents invited (some of which I don't know or have never met) got the magnet but everyone got the STD card. We really just got them on a whim at checkout because we could get so many for so little money it seemed worth it. There's also a store called MagnetQueen.com or Themagnetqueen.com - something liek that which I think does a lot.
  3. Have you guys seen this wedding slide show on the Knot? She did some really cute stuff! http://www.beachweddingsbytheknot.co...p.keywords=684 Look for "Kathyriya & Joe in Los Cabos, Mexico" under "beach Weddings"
  4. They are in San jose del Cabo near ther church where Maria Elena got married. nathalie has had some other weddings where people have done them out on the beach but you'll need transportation to/from the hotel for you guests. Also unless things have changed I don't think Nathalie sets up all the legal stuff and I think you do need to hire an outside coordinator. She is lovely however - I really enjoyed meeting with her and the food and rooms and service at the hotel is some of the nicest - if not the nicest I saw/tasted. They have a deal with Casa del Mar for their guests (not for the wedding) where they will take you to/from Casa del Mar to use their beach club. But I do think this is a fantastic place for the reception dinner - the food cannot be beat anywhere in Cabo (in my opinion). yum!
  5. hee hee hee... I may need to shut the sound off my phone I'll ask my mom to make some appointments for us - it'll be fun I hope and not awful!
  6. I found a DJ who will play our iPod and do the whole set-up and everything for $160 an hour - send me a PM and I'll send you his info if you decide you're interested.
  7. Great info Jen! Thank you I'm sticking with non-designers just for the smaller tag on the inside! OK, I'm actually totally kidding - whatever looks the best!
  8. I just wanted to second the you have SO much time! I didn't start planning our June 07 wedding until September and the only thing I've even done is book a location!
  9. Sarah - no way - I spend ALL my free time on here... plus if you guys only knew about my tetris addiction! (TammyHost may know if she can see how much time I spoend on it... hee hee hee)
  10. In the end I ended up inviting everyone, but I have to say that way more people are coming than I thought so my budget has basically doubled... something to keep in mind if you DO decide to invite everyone... people I never thought would come are SUPER excited about going... very strange.
  11. We did regular STDs and some STD magnets as well for peopel to put on their fridge. I think they're cute and helpful because we're asking people to remember a date that's so far away. We got 25 for free and paid for another 25 for like $12 or something at Vistprint. It wasn't anything spectacular but here it is: Sorry this is showing up so huge! I mjade it small on photobucket but it doesn't seem to be helping. Anyway it's the size of a busines card. This was one of their stockphotos - you can also add your own customized design for like $15 of something... I looked at some of your websites and they look cute. If you have time to wait you may want to sign up on Vistaprint.com and they'll email you when you can get things for free (but pay shipping) and you can get the first 25 free and then the additional ones for pretty cheap. I like them - the magnets actually look a lot cuter than the picture - higher quality - not pixel-y at all.
  12. I think you'll fid that many places through mexico and central america will offer you the option of a church wedding and a beach reception. MariaElena just had a gorgeous wedding at the catholic church in San Jose del Cabo and then had a lovely reception beachside at the Hilton Los Cabos. I'm sure that many places in these parts of the world will have churches most will be Catholic i would think but there may be others.

[email protected] I did mean Tammy-Host but hey TammyM is a good option too! There's a reason she's been voted Member of the Month and has that cool "Senior Member" banner!
  14. I was just talking about you with Eric here at House Hunters (we sit next to each other) and he was just saying how he's going to send you a tape. I showed him your picture When you wroite that post about HH last week I was at home so it wasn't until I came into work that I realized my friend and cubicle neighbor was the one who put it all together. So weird!
  15. MariaElena - Thank you so much for posting these extar pics! I was dying to see pics of the food and everything looks fantastic! BTW - Did Emeline get all your flowers for you? Do you mind me asking how much she charged for your bouquet? I think I want to do the same sort of colors (reds. oranges pinks and yellows) - it really looked so warm and glowing with the beautiful table clothes and the lights from the hotel in the background! Love it!
  16. Christa - That a good idea about maybe adding a line to the RSVP card too. I was even thinking about having some of the free business cards from VistaPrint printed to match the invitation (which I haven't chose yet). and just say to go to our website to RSVP for the events and see details of the RD. I think that could work... this is where I could also put in a space to write in everyone's RSVP code... I should email Maye now that I've made a decision to line up BC! Has anyone eaten there before?
  17. This resort also was ranked #8 in all of Mexico for best resort! Just one below Cabo's One & Only Palmilla... so I bet it's AMAZING!
  18. Welcome Melissa and Steven!
  19. Jessalyn - I have to admit I didn't think about that. I do know that the CA Mart and New Mart (where all the fashion showrooms are) have Sample Sales once a month but unfortunately you have to wear like a size 2 - 6 to buy anything there. I wonder if the bridal showrooms would have bigger sizes... I'll have to look into it. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a wholesale license but if I can find a place that markets to a larger sizew then it's possible their samples will be bigger... okay I'm off to look this up!
  20. I think you might be right... I did figure out last night that if I have the taco bar buffet for 70 people and do 2 hours of open bar at Baja Cantina it will be $3657.50. If we do 3 hours open bar then it becomes $4462.50... Jen - I'll have to check out Puerta Vieja! What great prices and the food sounds so delicious! Do you think they could substitute a vegetarian option for the fish... hmmm... so if we did the dinner there with a two hour open bar (assuming the usual 15% gratuity/service and 10% tax) it would be: $4812.50 I have to say at this point I'm really leaning towards the taco bar w/ 2 hours of open bar (hey, if people want to keep drinking than they can but they'll have to pay for themselves at that point...). What do you guys think - that would be fun right? Should I put something in the invite about it?
  21. There's also Baja Weddings but I don't know if anyone has used them before...
  22. Hi Amy Do you know where you want to get married yet? If it's at a resort or hotel a lot of them have a wedding coordinator included that will work for you. If you're having a lot of people sometimes people hire "Day Of" coordinators to keep things running smoothly. I think someone is using Lovely Weddings and like them. There's another coordinator called Lisa Galvin I think that people like but I don't have her contact info - maybe put up a thread asking someone to send it to you... I am also using Maye Cortinas - she has great prices and a lot of people have had good experiences with her. I think that there have been a few brides on here who have had some bad experiences with the bigger companies - the ones who post all over the internet. Their prices also tend to be a lot higher so I would try and steer clear of them. I had originally been in contact with Bella Brides and Weddings in Paradise but both companies have very high prices so I decided against using them. Anyway I know that you'll be able to find someone great - definitely send Maye an email at least to get a quote. Let us know if you have more questions!
  23. Thanks Jessalyn! I have to admit that I spent an entire weekend obsessed with it... hee hee hee. But I did "borrow" a lot of information from other people's sights. Jen, Sounds like you got a great deal! How did you find out about "white"? I'm in Los Angeles and I feel like there must be a place like that here too.. anybody heard of any?
  24. Has anyone been able to find the vouchers for baja Cantina? I am really leaning towards doing my RD/WD here but I would love to go the voucher route...
