  1. We didn't have a problem on our sight visit and we ate salads and drank drinks with ice and everything. Tammy is right though - a lot of the big hotels filter their water for these reasons.
  2. The salon is really amazing with all those windows. Everything looked so amazing... thank you so much for posting your pictures so soon! You guys like so amazing - beautiful.
  3. Great review karla! I'm sorry you had so many litle complications but it sounds like the things that truly mattered turned out perfectly. Your photograph is really amazing - you are gorgeous! I love how you did your hair with the flowers. I can't wait to see all the pics!
  4. Cute pom-poms! I wonder if mine would really look that good... hmmm... I should try them out!
  5. Janet - i can't wait to see all your 100s of pics! But that makes me feel good about my decision. It sounds liek 3 hours is perfect!
  6. I am so happy to hear that everything went PERFECT! You look stunning - I love your hair and your make-up looks really fantastic. I can't wait to get the full review... but I insist you wait until you've enjoyed your honeymoon!
  7. Cuba would be so cool! I am jealous!
  8. I think I want to do red, orange, yellow and pinks - I love to contraqst of these colors against the cool tones of the beach. PLus I think they'll seem warm and inviting by candle-light. I really liked how MariaElena's reception looked!
  9. Check out the Jaguar Paw in belize (it's in the rainforest about an hour's drive from Belize City I thik it may really have what you're looking for. Here's the website: http://www.jaguarpaw.com/ I've known a few people who have stayed here and loved it. On a map it would be closest to Belmopan. I'm not sure how many rooms they have but I think you could rent out the whole place with 20 people. There's also the island on Ambergris Caye (in Belize again) this is Belize's main tourist spot but there aren't any AIs or anything like that - it's still one small town (San pedro) and then spanning out from there are hotels, bungalows, villas, etc. To get there you need to take a flight (cheap and 15 minutes) from Belize City or a ferry. There's no cars on the island only golf carts. For something with the same island feel but even less touristy you can check out Caye Caulker (another island). If you DO decide on Belize I would stay away from some of the Northern parts (corozal/orange walk areas for example) - the beach stinks and it's not very picturesque. In the south part of the country there are some amazing places (Punta Gorda and Placencia are suppose to be nice but still pretty undiscovered.) Costa Rica is a lot more expensive than Belize or other less "discoverd" places. The area in and around San Jose wouldn't be great but there are some amazing rainforest/up in the mountains type places (they are expensive). In Honduras the island of Roaton is suppose to be nice as well but again it may be expensive. And if you want REALLY off-the beaten path Nicaragua is a safe and undiscoverd parasdise (or so I hear). If you want something in mexico what about Loreto? It looks really lovely and I think Alaska Airlines flies there.

Just put on some music (iPod with speakers form home?) and if people want to dance they will! If they don't want to dance then that's okay too

  12. i was in touch with WIP and Bella Brides originally but ended up not using either and working with Maye Cortinas (www. mayecortinas.com) for a few reasons: 1. Their prices were 3 times the amount (this was the big one) 2. Their services included less items (i.e. WIP said they would not handle any food or drinks. If I was to bring or source out stuff on my own they would not be responsible for it). At first I actually started to panic after going from WIp to bella Brides and realizing that they're both SO expensive. I was about to change locations when I found this foruma nd got in touch with Maye. Her rates are very reasonable. However if you are getting married at a resort with a good coordinator I think you'll find there's no reason to hire someone from the outside... especially if you do the legal paperwork here in the states. Whatever you decide good luck!
  13. If anyone is interested (or knows what they want and see it here) Overstock.com has a bunch of really nice eternity bands for sale: http://www.overstock.com/?PAGE=CATLI...ssub_cat=14629
  14. I love... coffee candles warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows, etc.) things from other countries Funky jewelry (except I can't wear "fake" metals) books/reading Celebrity gossip magazines (I stole this one from someone else) Games to play with friends at parties I don't like... heavily perfumed items (bothers my nose) modern furniture or decor Food (well I defintiely like food but i don't want any treats)
  15. I said 2 - 4. I think we are only going to hire a photographer for 2 maybe 3 hours basically because they are SO expensive. But we also have a lot of friends who are photographers coming to the wedding (we don't want to hire them otherwise they won't be able to drink and have fun) whom we plan on telling to take tons of pictures and burn them on disks for us. But even if your friends aren't photographers I feel like you'll get so many pictures from everyone during the reception and everything that past hour 4 everythign has been shot...
  16. Christa - Don't worry! I don;t ACTUALLY know how many people are coming! It's totally just a guess and based on what people have told me/my parents/my FI/my FILs. To get my apprx. count I did this; I m using the Knot''s guestlist manager. I gave everyone who I htink is going to come an "A" and everyone I think it not goign to come a "B" (FYI: This is because I did not do a "B-List" invitee list). And that's how I came up with the number - I can certainly be WAY off but trust me - No one has booked anything! Actually even WE haven't booked anything yet!
  17. Oh i meant to tell you that renting a sound system thru the Hilton is actually pretty cost effective. They have two types one for smaler crowds (like yours) and one for bigger crowds... here's what she write: "In regards to the music, you can rent a sound system (small or medium depending on the final headcount - the small sound system is for group under 30 people). The price is $150 and $245 for the medium sound system. in case you decide you don't want to buy/carry-on/check the speakers you could probaby rent the small sound system for $150...
  18. I second all the above opions. If people don't WANT to dance then they won't but if you have goo dmusic you may find that many people really do what to dance. And it doesnt matter if your FI is a bad dancer - dancing is about having fun not looking good!
  19. Thanks Christa! I have to admit - it's a little silly but I was very excited to get it and it does make you feel proud. I'm going to stick it on my fridge as a reminder of my goals (i.e. lot gorgeous on my wedding day!)
  20. I think long banquet tables or a three sided box (i.e. U shape) could definitely work - even with 40 guests.I would ask Emeline - I'm sure she's done set-ups with everyone at one long/U-shaped table before for banquets and conferences and other weddings.
  21. I have to admit I don't quite get it. Where do you put the vellum and why areyou printing on it? Does the name show up in a shadow - I am very confused! (Sorry). I'm usually pretty good with this stuff but my mind has been blown!
  22. OK, I need to be positive. AND I said I was going to wait until I lost 5 pounds (I have no idea why I think it'll make a difference but...) and I have (yay! I got my red "I Lost 5 Pounds" Ribbon from WW) so now it's time to head out to the stores! yikes!
  23. I thkn I have about 10 up in my gallery if you want to check them out. This hotel is really beautiful. I think it's about equal in my mind to the Hilton (which I obviously loved since I'm gettig married there) but it is just slighlty more expenwsive (food & beverages)
