I'm having my welcome dinner at Baja Cantina. They also do wedding receptions as well... It may be worthwhile to check out. If you decide to consider San Jose places I love the restaurant inside Casa Natalia. The decor is lovely, it would fit 40 people perfectly and the food is amazing. The hotel is very small and the restaurant is in the courtyard. The food isn't cheap but they are happy to work with you to figure out what can work in your budget.

I used canvas bags from Hobby Lobby that I paid $1.25 each for (after using a 40% off coupon). I used Avery iron-on transfer paper, and the monogram is approx. 5" in diameter. I was able to print 2 monograms per sheet of transfer paper. I'm really happy with the end result though. We wanted something that would be a keepsake for our guests without having our name be the major focus- I think we accomplished this well with the monogram we chose. We are also having our custom koozies made with the same design. I'll post pics when they arrive. The bag Close-up of monogram on bag Sarah -these are awesome! How much do you think they ended up costing you per bag? I love how you did your names so tiny! I think people will definitley use them over and over again! -
Help! I can't decide on a dress!
gkashmira replied to SarahMc's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love #2. I also think #1 is pretty but it doesn't have that "special" feel you should have as a bride. What I like about the second dress is it's still light and floaty - very casual but also beautifula nd bridal. I love the lace! (my dress is lace as well and I am obsessed with it). -
Veil freakout - what to do?
gkashmira replied to LCBride2007's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I wonder if you can get them to take more money off. The veil I wanted was also like 600 but they took off $300... I wonder if you can get them to bring down the price even more... -

Recently I've been craving junk food... SO I found all these foods like Fat Free Pringles (Sour Cream & Onion), at free sour cream, fat free cool/sugar free whip etc. to help fill my cravings but also so I don't gain a ton of weight. However I have to admit I feel a bit torn - even though I put splenda in my coffee every morning and enjoy the occasional diet coke I'm not so sure how I feel about these items. I mean really, what is worse, real sour cream with like three easily recognizable ingredients on the back or fat free sour cream which is like 0 points but has a laundry list of weird chemicals I've never heard of? I don't know. Right now because I really do want to lose weight I'm eatign the weird chemical versions...they taste okay but are they bad for us? We've heard so much recently about "hydrogenated' stuff and these foods are chock full of it. My FI also was telling me about an article he read where food companies know they can get a lot more money for these lower calorie foods. Because calories are determined in a certain way by the government he said that some food manufacturers modify their food so int he test they come out lower calorie but if you eat them they turn to fasts or sugars or whatever. I have no idea if this is true. It seems like natural, simple foods would be better for you... BUT a lot of these foods are also very fattening... thoughts? So for now I guess I am eating these weird non-food foods in hopes that I will lose the weight and when I reach a point where I'd like to "maintain" (hard to imagine that happening) I would remove these items from my diet? Is that reasonable or possible? If I replaced them with the REAL items would I then gain back all the weight?

Well even if you can't have the sundae I highly recommend the other frozen WW "Smart Ones" desserts... but some of them are higher in points so be careful! I think i a pound is great! BUT you said that you're barely eating and that could actually be hampering your weight-loss (not eating enough). I think the most important thing (for me at least) is finding foods that I still crave and want to eat so I can eat them and enjoy. It doesn't sounds like your bare chicken was all that satisfying... at least go home and treat yourself to a tasty dessert (see posts above for options) afterwards.

I did this because there would only be about 13 people and I wanted to thank everybody for coming to the wedding as well as their support over the years. I also decided to host it and plan it because my bridal party pretty much fell apart because 4 ladies (2 of my sisters, 2 of my fiance's sisters) unexpedectly had babies who are all under 1 years old,so they kind of lost interest in the wedding . Of the two remaining ladies in my bridal party, one lives very far away , and my matron of honor is overwhelmed by work and home issues and really does not have time to plan anything. She will only be able to handle the bacheorlerette party. My mother is definately not the party planner type. So I said that I would turn it into a thank you brunch since I do not want gifts at my shower and I told people that if they felt they had to bring a gift, then they should bring me a family recipe so I could start a cookbook. Was it wrong of me to completely take over? Honestly I think is is admirable! A close friend of mine at work is a Bride's Maid in her friends wedding and while loves her friend and goes to all the various things needed is just not into it. I know it sounds stupid but I can respect that. She's been a bride's maid in about 4 weddings and while she remains single everyone she knows (me included) is getting engaged and married... She's going to plan the bachelorette party (wine tasting) but talking to her has sort of given me a better idea of how sometimes people just dont' have the time, energy or quite honestly the money to do all the things expected of them! I think your friends and family will appreciate you organizing the event and your insistence on no gifts!

Be warned: The vanilla ones aren't as good. Good to know! I haven't even tried one yet because I'm so in love with the choco-chip-cookie dough sundae with FF cool whip! Seriously, 3 points never tasted so good! Anyway last weekend I was horrible and ate WAY too much junk so over the week I was perfect and went to yoga twice and managed to be DOWN 1.9!!!!! YIPPPPPEEEEEE!!!!!! Of course the saddest part is that I still haven't gotten back to where I was in December before my 2 week vacation.... yup, that's right -- 2 weeks to put it on and freakin' 3 months to take it off! Damn! Why does it have to be so hard!

Nasty Ring Comments
gkashmira replied to tob1kanobe's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I have a round stone too! and I love it. People who are unhappy in their own relationships and in other parts of their lives perhaps make themselves feel better by behaving this way. And those ladies who needed "the perfect ring" before they were allowed to even be proposed to shgoudl consider finding someone else - it seem the BF/FI isn't as important as the ring. Besides loving my ring anyway what means the most is that it came from my FI. We picked out the setting together and he bought the stone. The fact that he would spend so much money (I don't actually know how much it was because I had to leave the store whenever he talked about $$) on ME and BEING WITH ME makes it the most precious ring in the world... sigh... My FI is out of town and I am clearly missing him and becoming all sentimental! hee hee hee -

Also delicious for when you really want a delicious DESSERT but don't want to eat 15 points worht of chocolate chip cookies... Weight Watcher's Smart Ones "Chocolate Cookie Dough Sundae" for 3 points. I just had one and it is DELICIOUS! Top it with 2 Tbsp Cool Whip "Free" (0 fat and 0 points for 2 Tbsp... only 0.5 for 4 Tbsp...). All I can say is YUMMY! It's in the frozen aisle near the other desserts and diet ice-creams, etc. I also bought the Weight Watchers 'giant chocolate ice-cream cone " (don't look so giant... but it's only 2 points) but I haven't tried it yet. When I was on ehte Zone diet I always had some delicious dessert item as my last snack and it really helps to keep yuou on track if you can eat these treats! A fried told me about a 100 calorie bag of like resses peices a friend had a Costco... needless I say we will be going there to by them! More tasty itesm for low points (non-dessert) Boca Burger Chili - 1 bowl = 3 points - find it in the frozen section near the veggies burgers! Top with low fat cheese or even low-fat/fat-free sour cream!
