I'm keeping mine... at least for now. I have a really cool last name and with a first name like "Kashmira" Dan's last name just doesn't sound that good. But if someone was to call me Mrs.Dan's LastName I'm fine with that too.

At Home Receptions - with or without
gkashmira replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are definitely not doing one. One wedding is enough for me! I just cannot afford to have an AHR and really I'm okay with that! Plus we also have a lot of people coming so in that way we are lucky. -
What's Worse: calories OR chemicals?
gkashmira replied to gkashmira's topic in Weight Watchers Forum
Well we'll just have to do it together! I was suppose to weigh in today but it turns out I set my alarm wrong last night so by the time I came into work I didnt' feel right leaving for lunch. PLUS the scale wasn't as low as I was hoping it'd be! So I want to be EXTRA good today and see if I can shake it back down a pound or two for a weigh in tomorrow... no sweets tonight! -
Very pretty! I love the organza! As for me, I'm just sticking with the freebies provided by the hotel... not nearly as fun!

I dont' usually mind the "fake" sweetners - I'm going to give Stevia a try! -
I have a Power Yoga DVD that's good. It's not as challenging as a real flow class but it's good and if you push yourself to do the postures with perfect form it's a good workout. Power Yoga Total Body with Rodney Yee by Gaiam Here it is onsale at Amazon for $8.99: Amazon.com: Power Yoga - Total Body Workout: DVD: Power Yoga Total Body

What's Worse: calories OR chemicals?

Fats are a different story. Your body needs them to process food (unlike sugar, which doesn't really do much aside from get your body off kilter as it causes you to peak and spike). It's easier to stave off the sugar cravings if you make sure you're not hungry in the process. It will be better for you in the long run. Eat satisfying, healthy foods more often while you're going through this. Even if you go over your points just a bit per day for about a week, you'll get over the sugar craving and then you can go back to your point allocation. I think that this is one of the reasons why WW gives you as many veggies as you want to eat throughout the day. You stay filled up on things that your body can process and do something with so you're not processing empty calories and fats that leave you wanting more. I think you may be right about the "withdrawal." It's like my body knows it's getting less calories so it's telling me to eat sweets to stock up! I do drink plenty of water and honestly all day long I feel fine - but for some reason after dinner the sugar cravings kick in... strange because pre-WW I rarely ate sweets at night. Honestly I rarely ate sweets before at all.. so who the hell knows... I just need to get through it and hopefully it will go away! Ladies, thanks for all the advice! -
Inviting "Plus Guest"

I think I’m going to go with not putting “and guest†on the invite but reassuring people that they can bring a guest if I think they’d be uncomfortable going alone. It is a lot to ask of someone to travel to a foreign country for a wedding if they didn’t know anyone at the wedding but me. I’m just getting started in this whole wedding planning process, but there seem to be so many of these minefields I have to go through! Fun stuff… For the 1 single person that literally knows no one but us I will include "and guest." But all our other single friends that know us and each other are being invited alone... if someone wants to bring a guest than that's fine but I'm not encouraging it (especailly because our guestlist is way bigger than I wanted or planned for!) -
We are also doing a welcome dinner and I debated back and forth for a long time whether to do this or not. In the end we are doing it because my mom already went and told everyone about it and my parent's want to take THEIR friends out for dinner... I basically said that if they take one group of people then then really need to take everyone - plus if anyone needs an extra free meal it's my poor friend, not their rich friends! hee hee hee... Anyway we are doing just a taco bar with open domestic (Mexican beer, margaritas, etc.) at Baja Cantina. However I think appetizers w/ drinks is more than acceptable and actually very lovely! It's just as nice as having a dinner and hopefully cheaper! I also love the idea of doing a bonfire with marshmallow roast on the beach instead!

wine cork - placecard idea
gkashmira replied to LCBride2007's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
What a GREAT idea! I love it! I will start drinking! -
I know how you feel! It's so hard to be working so hard and not feel like you're seeing any results! Hang in there - all your good behavior will catch up with you next week after your TOM is over and you'll feel fantastic! And as someone mentioned above to try and stave off bloating you should cut out very salty foods and believe it or not actually increase your water consumption to reduce bloating... hang in there!

I am sure they cant be good for you Sarah really? yuck! Well I can say that that never happened to me (thank god - I eat them at work!) Anyway I'm thinking that now that my junk food craving are starting to subside, (again, it's particularly weird because before i started WW I really didn't eat junk food at all - just lots of delicious real food!) I want to stop eating so much of these weirder foods. Honestly I don't think there;s anything wrong with Lean Cuisines, often if you read the ingredients that are perfectly normal food that you would eat every day - of course the portions are small! I'm also a huge fan of Amy's and Cedarlanes (both are organic) for convenience food. of course with all packagaed foods they're high in sodium but for now I'm not worrying about that - I have low (not unhealthy low) blood pressure anyway. But it's the desserts! For some reason I want to eat them and I haven't figured out what i can eat that's not filled with junky chemicals OR junky fat/sugars. I have tried the almonds and other healthy foods approach as well but I can't say it's exactly worked for me in the long run... But in the end I'm still really torn - i want to lose weight damnit! But i also want to be healthy and fit! well I guess that's what makes it hard, right!?! What do you guys think of splenda? It clainms to be less bad for you - but then again it just hasn't been around that long... There's also stevia (I think) an organic sweetener sold in health food stores - has anyone tried this before? Maybe I'll give it a shot in my coffee and let you guys know! -
I guess the question is are you inviting everyone who's invited to the wedding to the RD or just a select group of people? If it's everyone then I would add a separate card (as seen above) into the invite. If however you are having a small RD with just family and the wedding party then I actually like the idea of doing a a separate invite... just to keep things simple when stuffing envelopes!

Inviting "Plus Guest"
gkashmira replied to raisinblur's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are doing the same thing as Kate. I've had a few people ask if they could bring someone and I would always say yes if directly asked. However, i don't want to encourage it or have people think they need a date either. I do have one single friend whoa ctually just told me upfront that she will not be going. she doesn't have anyone to go with and to be honest i can respect that. I would go without a SO if I had fother single riends going as well but in her case she ia a work friend and all our other work friends are in relqationships... -

That sounds like a really interesting book, Jamy! However my problem is that I have difficulty eating real food in "moderation" hee hee hee... that's why I need to lose weight! -

YAY Amber!!!! I'm so glad you found a place that is just right! You are in good company with Janet, Christa and Tasha as your fellow Cabo Surf brides!

But you have to be careful which ones you choose - some are kinda high in points, Anyway the truth of the matter is I agree with everything everyone has said... on both sides of the argument so to speak. I sort of try to stay away from super junk food (read: fast food, doritos, twinkies etc.) but suddenly with the lower amount of calories I am craving all types of bad for you food! I was trying to see if I could find any literature online about this debate but it pretty much comes up 50/50... the one side obviously saying we just don't know what these substances do to humans in the long run and the other side bringing up that obesity in the USA is directly tied to the many of the leading causes of death and disease (heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. etc.) -
Finding Wedding Dress Prices
gkashmira replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The knot is my recommendation as well. Alvina Valenta will not be super cheap - the first dress I bought was one of her's and it was a little less than $3k and that one was a discontinued sample (I ended up not buying it but alas - the dresses are pricy). -
Flowers in floating water

Tammy - I love what you had at your AHR - gorgeous! A girlfriend of mine did a sunken extra large white calla lily and it was GORGEOUS! -
Welcome! You should definitely talk to Natasha - she just had her wedding ther e in November. I rememberr her saying that because CDM is so beautiful and there are bougainvilla all over that you don't need much in the way of flowers and decorations to make a difference. I think she may have done pink gerber daisies (which match the bougainvilla)... but I can't remember if that's true or not!

table inspiration...
gkashmira replied to MelissaH's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
table runners and candles were also the first things that popped into my mind... or even just colored table clothes (some hotels offer these for free) -
After Janety's great review of Marcie we have hired her for our June wedding. I think the $750 price is very reasonable for an edited video plus all the raw footage. If you can afford another grand than I think it's worthwhile! When it'sd all said and done, the money spent, the dress worn, the food eaten you're going to walk away with an amazing husband, some gorgeous photos and perhaps a video of your special day...
