  1. I don't know if we can customize half and half - can we? I think I'm OK with uncustomized - especially because it's cheaper... what do you think?
  2. I haven't really even started looking for stuff - so sadly no I haven't found any I like. How many are you looking to buy. I would need about 60 I think. I would love to get one with SPF in it as well... any thoughts?
  3. We were actually planning on going last x-mas time but cancelled for unrelated reasons. I think it is perfectly safe to go. I do think the far south has more rebel activity but as a tourist I am sure you would be fine. These are the areas I desperately wanted to visit: Bangkok Chiang Rai Krabi Have fun - you lucky lady!
  4. We're having our welcome dinner there but unfortunately I don't know much. As a side note the firepits aren't free for some reason...
  5. I like the idea of various Spanish words... or the #s int he sand though that requires a lot of forethought - not sure if I have the time or desire but I DO have photo paper and a printer at home... I may go this route. Or on that note just pictures and then have that same picture printed on the seating card. Anyway I'm defintiely dpoing table numbers because I think it actually saves people who didn't get there as early as getting stuck with weird uncle ___ and crazy aunt ____ (this happened to us at a friend's wedding and I was very upset. I had traveled like 24 hours to go to this wedding and then couldn't even sit with my friends that I never get to see!)
  6. hee hee hee... that's a funny story Tammy! My friend's twin sister always tries to make out with all the guys whenever she gets really drunk. It's actually sort of hilarious... she really is a nice girl - just lonely I guess. Anyway, I agree send a separate card to each. Wow, if I was that girl I would have murdered him... poor thing!
  7. I'd wear it on before UPS-ing it! hee hee hee.. now that would be a funny sight!
  8. It never ocurred to me that people would actually carry gifts to mexico.. I guess I'll have friends/family spread the word as well.
  9. As long as people are free to stay wherever they please (and I assume they are) then I think it is perfectly reasonable to choose the place you love. We are getting married at the Hilton in Cabo and right now the rooms are booking at $215 +tax) for the night. For some of our guests that is a reasonable amount and for some it is not. because I knew a lot of my friends wouldn't be able to afford this i also found another hotel that's nearby (like 1 mile away) that is a lot more affordable - $90/night (marbella en la playa for you Cabo gals) which can comfortably sleep two and could probably fit four. I just made it very clear to people when they asked where they should stay that the Hilton is expensive and that this place is close-by and very-cute. We had no problem meeting our room block requirement (20 paid nights) between us and our family plus friends who were excited about the resort and had the extra money (or Hilton points). So anyway this is my long version of saying that just pick the place you love. Give people tyo option t stay there or to stay at a more affordable place. Who cares if everyone isn't staying together? I'm sure that my friends who are down the road will happily cab/bus/drive over to spend the day with us! Plus what's nice is now we actually have a bunch of friends in this one other hotel so they also have each other!
  10. You could email the Floewr Cart (I think that's where Janet bought her bulk flowewrs) or try Mazarte (they seem pricy for centerpieces but maybe their bunches are cheaper)
  11. No one has asked us - but I think in the beginning I made it very clear that is was SMALL. In the end I did end up inviting my girlfriends at work but we actually have each others phone numbers, spend time outside of work occassionally and I definitely know their last name! I dont' think any of them are coming but if I hadn't invited them they never would have invited themselves! CRAZY!
  12. I am a Hilton bride but here's our plan: Ceremony: My brother is going go tplay guitar as my dad walks me down the aisle. Reception: Startign with the cocktail hour we have hired a DJ who will play music from our iPod all night - thru dinner and then for dancing. Did you have a dance floor put in or just dance on the concrete? We are not having a dance floor put in - we are dancing right on the concrete! Also I wanted to know for the ceremony, what music did you use? Does Dreams provide music for when the bride walks down the aisle or do we have to bring a tape or hire someone? I'm almost positive that Dreams will not provide you with any music or even a way to play music. You will need to rent this through your wedding coordinator (either private or thru the hotel). You will need someone to run the music but you may want to consider asking a friend to just push "play" if it's that simpe (I did that for a friend's wedding once myself). I think that a weddig reception with no dancing isn't as fun. I think people will want to dance and have fun and dinner only isn't as nice.
  13. I haven't stayed at either but I did look at both at one point - though I only really went intot he lobby of the Marquis becuse we instantly knew it was out of our price range for the wedding. The Marquis is newer, very modern, sleek beautiful. Casa del Mar is also beautiful but in a more old Mexican style - I guess the question is which do you like better? If it was me I think I would rather stay at the Marquis - just because it seemed very luxurious and I wasn't that impressed with room at CDM.
  14. Yuck! Well here's some good news - DJ Ricardo will be there on June 16th at my wedding - so he should be familiar with the place anyway! On another note - does Emeline know you are on this forum? I know she knows about this forum and also knows how strong it is... it might be worth responding with something like the following (this is probably what I would write): Dear Emeline: Thank you so much for your email. I have to admit I am quite disappointed and honestly quite surprised with your reply. It was my understanding that one of the features of having a wedding at the Hilton would be that I would have your assistance in all aspects of my wedding. I am actually quite surprised because some of the girls on the Best Destination Wedding Forum have said how helpful you have been and honestly it was one of the reasons I was drawn to the Hilton in the first place. I am not sure I would have decided to hold my wedding at the Hilton if I knew this was how I would be treated for hiring the vendors of my choice. I understand that you cannot be responsible for the performance of the vendors I have gone through the trouble of hiring myself, but I think it is very reasonable to ask that the hotel to show them to the wedding sight. I will coordinate the times, payment, etc. but as the Hilton Los Cabos is quite large I am simply asking that someone, you or the front desk or perhaps one of your associates, leads my vendors to the correct location. Lastly I do appreciate your help in the other areas and I hope that we can rectify this issue quickly. I look forward to hearing back from you soon and I thank you in advance for your time and understanding. Warm regards, Christine
  15. Ooooh! I LOVE Glenda's idea! I bet you guys could always take pictures earlier in the day as well to get all the normal beach shots! Tammy, it is going to be amazing - no matter what you decide. If you can't uninvite the other guests just amke it VERY clear that once the wedding is over you gusy are on your HONEYMOON - which means no guy friends tagging along!
  16. Mine (Red, orange yellow) are "analgous" (meanign right next to each other ont he color wheel... which of course anyone who knows the rainbow knows!
  17. YAY Tasha! You look so amazing and the place looks gorgeous. I love how you guys did the cupcakes! The orchids look so bveautiful against the white frosting! I can't wait to how how it all went!

Probably because I am not using her florist! AAAAAAAAAH! You know it's sort of weird but I almost get the feeling sometimes that since I am also using a lot of outside vendors (and also an outside coordinator) that the reason Emeline's prices aren't as good etc, is because she gets paid no matter what. So if you have someone else doing all the work then , hey even better for her! Know what I mean? I haven't actually run into the problem you're having just yet but one thing I can say about Emeline is that anytime I have written her to show my concern about something she does manage to rectify the situation. Maybe if you are very clear with her that one of the reasons you chose the Hilton was because it included the services or a coordinator versus a sales manager and you feel like you are not getting the help you need to have the wedding you want maybe she will come around. Lastly, almost all of the hotels vendors (not all though!) are priced higher than the ones I've found myself or through Maye. It is my understanding that in many of these cases they probably have agreements with these vendors to use them exclusively. For example I had asked for prices for flowers and when they came int hey were very high and I asked her if you could shop around and she basicallyt said no (nicely, but still). I am wondering if these agreements are what is stopping her from helping you with your own vendors.... Oh wait, one last thing. I am sure that they will direct your guests to the sight - what Emeline may not do (or what it sounds like to me) is set-up stuff that was acquired thru outside vendors... do you think that is it?
  19. They definitely work! I tried them on with my wedding dress and they made a HUGE difference! Unfortunately I'm not sure it's going to work because the ones i tried were the "high powered" and they go all the way up to below your chest... um my dress has an open back! anyway I then ordered some "low-rise" ones but I'm not sure if they're as good - I'll have to let you knwo after my first fitting 9which won't be until late April or eaely May!). I think they're defintiely worth a try on...
  20. I love the dinner cruise idea! Also a beach bonfire with smores and drinks...
