  1. OK so here's my question - I need your opinions! Because the Hilton has an 11 pm cut-off time for music/parties on the terraces we are going to move our party from the terrace down to the beach for a bonfire at 11pm. Anyway Emeline suggested we serve drinks (which I am happy about) and also possibly offering smores to our guests. We are estimating about 60 people and it costs $3.50/pp for smores (plus tax & service - comes out to $262.50 for 60 people). However I'm not sure if the smores are worth it. With our buffet dinner we get fruit cocktail, custard and tres leches cake. Later in the evening we'll have our "cake" (aka 4 different flavors of cupcakes). I think offering smores is a cute treat but I cabn't imagine many people will wan t to basically eat a third dessert of the night. But everyone will be siiting around the fire and people will have been drinking for like 5 hours by that point so maybe they would like them? Do you think it's worth it?
  2. OMG! I cannot believe everything you've made, done, sent out and more! You are AMAZING! You should do this for a living... well that is if you stopped savingt the world as a nurse!!!!!! Here are some things you can start working on (things I wish I had started before now): - Build your website!!!!! (That's a good one to start now and make really in-depth for your guests) - Research different readings for your ceremony - Do your research: look at different color set-ups, bouquets, centerpieces, dresses, shoes, arches/chuppahs, general decorations. That way when you coordinator tells you it's time you already have it all figured out! - Start compiling your guestlist - names, addresses, significant others, etc. - Build your budget! OK... so start on that and come back when you're bored again
  4. Congratulations! That is awesome! I know what you're talking about. I haven't actually lost any weight recently but for some reason all the waists of my pants are too big... I am glad
  5. I am wearing a veil. I never planned on it but when they put it on me in the bridal shop my mom practically cried... so in the end I paid way more than I wanted to for my veil (the one that matches my dress) for my mom. But I'm happy about it - I think it's very pretty. I'm still wearing flowers in my hair as well: Anyway my vote it wear it!
  6. I have done it before but I'm a lot like Kate. PLus even though I eat seafood I don't eat other meats so it's not a very viable option for me.
  7. Geesh! This is a wedding not a keg-party! I mean what the hell! Who the hell are these people she's trying to bring (that's what I'd really like to know!)?

The same thing happened for our transport company so we had double shuttles booked without any contracts. Really? Wow! I need to start emailing people telling them were not using them! How would they know what time to even show up? That is crazy!
  9. Great thread Christine - i was just trying to come up with some ideas for us to incorporate in our ceremony! Perfect time
  10. Thank you so much - I am looking for a good service to recommend to my guests!
  11. Toby - if you love this dress you must order it today! Order it in your CURRENT size - it is so much easier to take in a dress than let one out and the truth of the matter is that this is suppose to be the happiest day of your life - I dont' want you worrying all the way up to the date "Will it fit?" I had the exact same worries - I wanted so badly to lose weight before my wedding (still do!) but thank god I ordered my correct size because truth be told I weigh the same as I did at my first try on! But the truth is that now as long as the dress fits me I'm happy! Go order it now! Or I'll order it for you!

  13. OK, well I know this thread was started in December but hey - for me it's new! So here are my answers: We are spending $1200 on photography and honestly that's way more than I'd like to spend. While pictures are somewhat important for me, they are not the most important thing. To me the most important thing is the day itself - people having fun, good food, good drinks, good friends and family. For me if I have the best time ever I don't need professional pics to remember it by: 1) A large number of my friends are professional photographers. In fact the only reason we are hiring an outside person is because we didn't think it was fair to make one of our friends snap pictures all evening instead of having fun. However I know that we are going to get amazing pictures from them as well as our photographer. 2) We planned a destination wedding to save money (many less guests) because prices for everything in LA are sky-high. That being said I think there are some very talented photographers in Cabo and therefore I was able to afford one! If they were priced closer to 3k I would skip the professional photographer all together. 3) We are also getting a videographer. So anyway I guess the truth is that my photography budget is low because photography is low on my list of priorities. I would rather spend the money on other things...

  15. Catherine - I think you have a good start but I think you should play with it some more. What program are you using? I think that if you are using power point it is not going to give you enough flexibility. You may want to try Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

  17. We had this in each invite: Formal Invitation Smaller Welcome Dinner Invite RSVP card & envelope A "More Info" card that had our website, accomodations, passport reminder. i then stacked them in order of size and tied together the bundle with a red ribbon. Here's what they looked like for an idea:

Our mariachi trio is playing "Cannon in D" instead. If you have a WC you can also ask them for suggestions of songs that have sounded nice in the past.

  22. Thanks Sarah & Shelley! I made it in Photoshop. Basically I stole the images from my invites and cut out the red flowers so they would match. I don't know how other people did their's but that's how I did this one! I need to work on it some more though... Shelley - I'm sure you can find a photoshop savy friend to put something toether for you once you pick all the details! Also you can always hire someone or VistaPrint used to offer a free service where you could pick one of theirs and custmize it for yourself!

Good luck!
  24. I have not stayed there but i am hoping that there are no conferences while we are there! I know there was a big group that released their rooms for our weekend (which also dropped room prices - yay!) so I think we are in the clear. i guess asking is the easiest way to know. I do know however that they only do one wedding per weekend.
