Site visit to Hilton and Dreams
gkashmira replied to sandyroo's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
For me and my group an AI doesn't work so well (lots of vegetarians, etc.) and my FI and I loved the Hilton. But I will warn you that a a wedding at the Hilton can end up costing a whole lot more than a wedding at an AI! Even with the set-up fees and costs for daypasses the food/drink bill at the Hilton will be higher. I never did make it down for a tasting but everything I've heard about the food there is great so I am excited! have you considered any of the other hotels? Casa del Mar, where Natasha got married, is a gorgeous property with what looked like amazing food. I think she may have had some issues with them though so I would see what she has to say. Anyway it's right near the Hilton - it's not an AI but it has a true Mexican feel to it and it's smaller. Here's the link: Hotels Los Cabos - Casa del Mar Beach Golf and Spa Resort -
Oh yeah - I didn't even think of that! You could stay at Dreams or wherever and you can have your wedding at a restaurant. Andrea is having her wedding at Baja Cantina where a lot of people (myself included) are having welcome/rehearsal dinners. Karla had a gorgeous wedding at sunset di mona lisa. There's also Marbella en la Playa. It's a small older hotel but it has a nice pool, a gorgeous beach and is very affordable. It's not a 3 start resort but it's cute and could be very nice. There are non-AI hotels but a lot of them (Hilton, Sheraton, etc.) aren't going to be as affordable (and by that I mean they are expensive!).

There's also another AI called Melia Cabo Real (it's right near the Hilton) that you can check out.

What about the Presidente Intercontinental in San Jose? It's really nice - we actually liked it better than Dreams to be honest! It's in San Jose del Cabo all the way at the end of the Corridor so it is pretty far from downtown Cabo San Lucas. Here are some pictures: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...p?do=view&g=37 They don't seem to be as busy with weddings as the hotels on the Corridor so I bet they'll have your date!

Good thing he's wearing flip-flops so no socks will be flying at the ceremony!

Your FI will DIE when you walk down the aisle. OK, let's hope he doesn't die- but you get the point. Just make sure you have someone standing by that knows CPR! I was very worried about the back of the dress when I was deceiving myself into thinking I might try to afford it- this was obviously a huge concern for myself with my weight issues. So, please take this is the absolutely best way possible because it's meant as a huge compliment- for someone who is not "teeny tiny" you have a fantastic back! The dress looks great! I think it really highlights your feminine figure in all the right places. omg I am so excited to see all your pictures now! if anyone's giving my FI CPR - it's going to be me! Sarah - what you said about the back of the dress really means a lot! I do take it as a big compliment because that is still one of my worries about the dress! I figure I just need to do it up at yoga the the next week to try and whip it into shape! Honestly though I think it's it's cut of the dress - because it hides the sides and also because it's not very tight or constricting I think it makes a person's back look good. Thanks again!

The seamstress told me they can't put cups into this type of dress (it's just a silk slip with a lace dress on top) and brought these in. Here's they are online: NuBra Seamless

You are the best forum friends a girl could have! I was out of the office yesterday and didn't get a chance to sign in and was wondering what you guys were going to think! Thank you all for the compliments - it really makes me feel more assured and reminded me of why I was so in love with this dress in the first place! I have to admit for awhile there while the dress was on order but not in I was really second guessing my decision. But now everytime I look at the white dress bag hanging on the door I smile. I even warned my FI that am going to look super beautiful Thank you all for your kind words - i love you guys! P.S. Glenda - I am so glad you didn't call off the wedding! The dress may be gorgeous but I'm sure it would be one of those one-sided relationships... you're home cooking a special dinner - the dress is out on the town, being put on by other girls, going out to the clubs... you know how it is.

Thank Amy! I love the dress too but it was such a challenge getting it and finding a seller and all that, so I'm not so sure you should be jealous! Tammy - you definitely know me well enough to say my boobs look great 9and thank you!). It's actually this amazing stick on and then hook together bra called like Nu Bra or something. It's totally back/strapless - but somehow they work... very weird.

OK, so many of you lovely ladies have read about my many months of torture and changes and all sorts of stuff regarding my dress. (For those of you who haven't just take my word for it! ). Well... I went to my fitting and my big "fear" happened. The dress I had tried on had been stretched out and MY dress was much snugger. Now it technically fit - I could zip it and it wasn't pulling or anything BUT it wasn't flattering... can you say "spare tire?" Anyway I just didn't deal with it. We agreed on the hem, etc. and I left. Well the next day I suddenly realized that after all I've been through wirth this dress I better do everything to make sure I look and feel beautiful! So I called the bridal salon and the seamstress told me to come back in and we'd redo the fitting later that week and see what we could do to fix the problem. Anyway, I went back, there was some room in the seams to let the dress out a bit and I went back this weekend and picked it up. I spent another few hours there on Saturday as the final touches were made and I think in the end it looks pretty good... I'm not sure if it was worth it all in the end - I guess I won't know until I see my FI's face on Saturday the 16th... here they are for your enjoyment: Full Length Front w/ back in Mirror: Front View: Full Length Back w/ train: Full Back with bustled train: Bustle:

To be honest I would be more concerned with your return flight from Mexico into the USA...

I think the big decision to make is whether you want an All Inclusinve or not. An AI can be a lot cheaper because food and drinsk are included for your guests. However if you think a lot of people won't be staying there and you have to add the cost of 30 - 50 day passes then it may not be much cheaper. Do you knwo which way you guys are leaning - AI or non? -
Site visit to Hilton and Dreams

I am getting married at the Hilton but have also hired Maye as my outside coordinator. We have a total of 50 people coming (including us). At first I wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do however I think that by hiring Maye I have saved quite a lot of money. The Hilton is beautiful (which is why we're getting married there!) but it's vendors are generally pretty pricey. In most (though no all) Maye was able to get a much better price for things like flowers, music, photos, etc. What is also great is that she will help you set up other events that may not be at the Hilton. For me she has arranged our "Welcome Dinner" at Baja Cantina including reserving a bus to pick us up and take us there and stop at another hotel where a lot of our friends are staying (Marbella en la playa which is close-by but more affordable). Did Maye take you to meet Emeline? I didn't think that they had worked together before but I had asked many many months ago so they probably have since then. Thanks for your review and let us know what you decide! Maye was actually Tammy-host's wedding coordinator so she's been around here for a long time - though I think she only recently posted up on this forum (it used to be a different one). Emeline is also a member! -

Yup, I too noticed that I was down-graded from Elite to "Senior." But then I thought about TammyM and Sarah and how they really ARE Elite members and I felt OK about my "Senior" member status Plus everyone who's ever watched Dazed and Confused knows how cool "the seniors" are! hee hee hee... -

It seems as though RIU and Dreams are the main spots for weddings. When I don't think about anyone else Cabo is what I want to do. I have a hard time not thinking about other people or putting other people before me. This is my wedding I should do what I want. I am anxious to start planning and to set a date. Any and all help you could provide would be great. Thanks, Jessica Congratulations on choosing your destination! And welcome!

OK, so after all your help and votes I told Maye I wanted to get the first bouquet... she checked the with florist (who she had checked with many months ago) and it turns out that they don't have the calla lilies or gloriosa lilies this time of year So now I don't know what yo do... I guess I'll get the gerbers - but I was sort of all excited about the other one now... Oh, well it probably doesn't really matter - they're both pretty. Or shoudl I ask for a combination of the gerbers mixed with the circus roses....
