Good luck Jen! You're going to do great. I've never done Nutri-system but I have done the Zone delivery diets (that are crazy expensive though ) and I did lose about 15 pounds. It sounds this will be great to get you back on track!

Help me choose my shoes...

I like the white ones... to me they're very classy and beautiful. Also I would be concerned that the rhinestones could get snagged on the dress. -

I've seen an iPhoto book and I think that's what we're going to use to make albums for our parents. But honestly I've never seen the other ones so I wouldn't be able to compare and say they are better or worse than the MP or SI. I remember discussing the iPhoto books with Jonathan - I will try and find the link. Jess - iPhoto is a mac program that lets you make albums and then order them directly from your program (over an internet connection of course) from Mac's printer. Other companies (like MP or SI) can also accept the iPhoto "album" (meaning the album/file you created on your computer) and then they print it using their own materials. I don't know if that explains it... So if you decide that you like one of the other publishers your FSIL could put the album together on her Mac using iPhoto but could technically have it printed elsewhere... -

i agree - clowns ARE creepy! Especially the "happy" clowns that are actually depressed and the "sad" clowns that are actually downright scary... -

Thanks Rebecca! Maye was great and thank god I hired her (imagine having to fight with the Hilton for being overcharged by every vendor!) but it's critical to doubel check that final invoice before the wedding! -

We had a few kids at our wedding but they were amazingly well behaved and very cute. They had a great time dancing with everyone and we all had fun dancing with them! -
Destination Wedding Etiquette Article

Great article! I had also read in a few places that it is customary for the brides' family (if indeed they are the ones paying for the wedding which in this day and age is often not the case) to pay for the accomodations for BMs and that it was the groom's family who was supposed to cover the GMs. However that being said I dont' think people expect it - so if you DO decide to do it it'll be a great surprise. And if you can't afford to do it I'm sure they won't mind anyway! -
Wedding Planner/Coordinator Budget ?

The price they quoted for their services seems to be in line with Maye and the other coordinators I have seen. Has anyone else had bad experiences with them? I also started off working with them but I felt that their prices were too high and that I wasn't getting much for my money. I think their prices are closer to 2K for full coordination (wedding, rehearsal, welcome dinner, etc.) where I paid Maye $600. I didn't have her do anything with regards to arranging the officiant or paperwork so that is why the rate was reduced. How much did WIP quote you? I remember them being a LOT more expensive. -
Martha - Are they able to hold a date for you without a deposit? When are they saying the 2008 rates will be released? Maybe if you can have them confirm the date then you can move forward with the other stuff - like reserving the photographer, DJ etc. Because even if you end up changing locations you can always take your vendors with you (right?). I would just hold off sending the STDs - 6-9 months in advance is more than enough time. Don't give up on your dream place yet - but it's always a good idea to see what your other options are!

I saved $300 on my dream dress!

I asked her “Are you sure this is Tuscana Royale?†She pulled out the book and looked at the picture and said “Yep, it’s just in a different color- that’s why it looks different.†I wasn’t too sure about it because the dress even had a different material. They were identical except for the material. Even with doubts, I took her word for it because she rang it up and marked that I wanted Gold with Gold & Coral Lace. I knew Tuscana Vidal didn’t come in that color. I figured she showed me the wrong dress, but I was Ok with it as long as she ordered me Tuscana Royale. On the agreement you sign, they just write the item number and specific instructions (here she wrote the color I wanted.) I signed it thinking- Awesome! Got the dress I love for $300 cheaper. I must have found an outdated price on the internet since this is a Fall 2006 dress. I get home and pull out the fabric swatches she gave me for Tuscana Royale and found my receipt that was attached to the order guide. On the receipt it said “Tuscana Vidal in Gold with Gold & Coral Lace.†Through my research I knew this wasn’t a possible combo. Since all sales are final, I freaked a bit. But I knew they had to change something. The dress they ordered ISN’T POSSIBLE. I called this morning- yep, they made a mistake. Tuscana Royale is $1100 not $778. They corrected it and ordered me the Tuscana Royale, but gave it to me for the $778 price for their mistake. Can you believe that? I saved $300 for their mistake!!! I was stressing about ordering a dress $300 more than my budget, and now I don't even have to worry about it! I'm so excited! YAY!!!!! Even better - plus you get your dream dress at a dreamy price! -
Kashmira's Hilton Wedding review 6/16

I just wanted to let you know that I had emailed Emeline about the bar tab on Monday. When I hadn't heard back form her by Wednesday I re-sent my email with a note that I was awaiting her reply. She emailed me back (and claimed to have not received the first email) and referred me to their financial department because she was leaving town for the rest of the month. I emailed the head of the financial department yesterday and they responded today that they will refund is the $$ that was above the set limit! YAY! So finally I can say that everything is resolved! -

Post Groom and GM attire

Here's what Dan wore: -
ours were: Red, yellow, orange, & pink We did all our table linens and chair bows in yellow and had yellow flowers at the ceremony. My bouquet and the centerpeices where a mix of all the colors above We used red on our invites, placecards, etc.
-
I saved a lot of money by hiring Maye and paying her $600 (we brought our own officiant). We had about 50 guests. I think she was more than worth it.

OK - about 1/3 of our guests were vegetarians. We added a pasta bar station with three types of pasta (penne, cheese tortellini & fettucine). We changed beef turnovers to spinach and mushroom empanadas. At our welcoem dinner we had them offer grilled vegetable tacos, quesadillas, etc. -

BTW it's not a bad idea to have a back-up ipod on you. The reason is bedcause ours actually froze mid-reception. Luckily we also had a DJ running it so he was able to play his music but it could have been a disaster if he wasn't there.

What are you paying for your guests?

My guests are going to be spread across the town of San Miguel. As a result, we have several problems we don't know how to resolve: 1) how do we organize welcome pack, which seems pretty popular with destination wedding? We don't even know where are guests will be staying and it doesn't make sense for us to drive around town to hand out welcome gift bags. Has a welcome gift bag become essential for destination wedding? 2) Given our limited budget, we are paying for a wine tasting welcome reception the day before the wedding and the reception. In lieu of a bachelorette party in the State, I wanted to have a "girls night out" in Mexico earlier in the week. Since I'm most familiar with the city, I would be doing most of the planning. Does that mean I have to pay for the entire event? How do I tell guests that all the activities planned for that day would be paid by the individual attendees? I want to buy a round of drinks for my friends but I can't afford to pay for their facial, massage, etc.? Love to hear your suggestion! Thanks, Julie 1) it is definitely not required to do a "welcome" pack for guests. We mailed out a "Welcome Letter" with all the final details and information to our guests ahead of time but we did not do gift bags. As far as I know no one seemed to think twice about it. 2) I find it hard to imagine your friends thinking that you're paying for everything - that would be totally unheard of. One option is to tell/email people how much money they can expect to spend (just tell people or write facials $50, massages $80, etc.) Everyone will know that prices are being given so they can plan accordingly.
