  1. What about biking? The reason I ask is because I've had knee problems for a long time and actually had knee surgery last year. Every doctor tells me to bike (better on a stationary bike because landing on a real bike hurts) to build up the muscles, etc. Or swimming? Since swimming is 0 impact maybe that's an option for you. Or yoga? Only thing my knee doctor told me to do was avoid positions where you kneel down. And of course whenever somethign feels bad I dont' do it (like pigeon for example) Do you know if it's a cartilage problem? I imagien you've had an MRi and x-ray and all that. And they still dont' know what it is? Hmmm... Anyway you can definitely lose weight without exercising. After my knee surgery i was freaked about about gaining so I tried to be extra strict with my food. i think I actually lost weight. Try out your local WW meetings - I actually just started WW again yesterday because I've been feeling plump. It can definitely work but keep in mind that your body is used to exercising so if you can find a way to do stuff that will help!
  2. We spent like 3 nights in Venice and honestly it was our least favorite of all the places we went on our honeymoon. I wouldn't spend more than maybe 2 days there. It's VERY crowded and expensive and while it's definitely a sight to see it's so overrun with other tourists that it's hard to really enjoy. If you're running short of time I would actually just skip it. Sadly that's the only place in Italy I've been so it' snot a ton of help I know. I hear fantastic things about the art in florence. great food in tuscany.
  3. Tammy - you are SO beautiful! I loved the pictures of you and Cain in the grass - SO romantic! This was a really beautiful set of pictures, Juan!
  4. i guess the other thing that is often not mentioned is that i think a lot of Dan's friends from Philly actually came because it WAS is Mexico! So you may be pleasantly surprised at who is just as excited as you are about the trip!

I know that you love me and would never ask me to change or cancel my life long dream just because you think it's inconvenient. Right?" and if they continue I think the next answer is something like this: "We understand if you can't make it." period - no discussion. If they want to be obnoxious then they don't have to come! I mean really - it's not like you're asking them to go to the north pole in the middle of winter! If thyey don't want to come or can't afford it or whatever then they can just stay home. Seriously - f*uck them! They can have their weddings anywhere they want and you can promise not to say a word.
  6. My friend who is a stylist and owns her own salon did both my hair and make-up.

BTW I forgot to tell you that I had Emeline bring the room requirement down to 20 room nights - or 10 rooms at 2 nights a piece. The reason was that that was what every other hotel had required when we went down for our sight visit. I don't know if that is the standard nowadays but just in case it helps! But to be honest we ended up with more than 20...
  8. Marbella en la Playa is inexpensive and charming. It's not a big resort but it's right ont he corridor and perfectly nice. they even have mini-kitchens
  9. I actually think you should go now and try on lots and lots of dresses. Don't buy anything now - but if you find a place that has a few dresses that you like then make an appointment for when your mom will be coming down. The reason I say this is I think the most important part of your mom being there is to help you make the final selection - to pick the perfect dress for you. If you wait until she can come down you may go with her and try on a ton of dresses but not find THE one... then you're stuck looking on your own with less time and without your mom to help you decide! Also it's a good idea to at least see what style dresses look good on you - it may not be what you think! i think if you also explain it this way to your mom then she won't be sad or hurt. Tell her that her opinion is SO important to you that you want to make sure she's there when you make the final purchase.
  10. We had a similar issues but in the end the people who were meant to be there were there. Honestly I think it just SOUNDS more difficult - they know how to fly to LA. But you can show them that is really is no different (especially to Cabo!) by sending them itineraries, or having them work with a TA, or even looking up a flight online and just sending it to them and say "here's a flight from Dublin to Cabo - look it's actually the same amount of flying time as Dublin to LA" or something like that. You could even suggest that people come to LA and then fly from here if they REALLY want to! I think people are just confused by DWs and it takes them awhile to warm up to the idea.
  11. Well I think you're in luck - blue can look good with LOTS of colors! here are some ideas that other brides have used in the past: Blue & Brown Teal & Fuchsia Blue & Green Blue & Red (be careful what shades you pick or you may end up being very patriotic!) Aqua & Black it might be a good idea to go to theknot and search for "blue" and see what colors you are naturally drawn to. Another idea may be to take a blue fabric swatch (shirt, napkin whatever) to a florist shop and sort of walk around and see what flowers you like with it. Good luck!

I figured any less and I would keep it! I was secretly hoping she'd change her mind and not buy it... but now that it's all said and done I'm glad I sold it! I'm going to take the money and invest it in my IRA - that way it can grow!

  17. I like the Danon Light n' fit Vanilla yogurt (60 cals) plus 1/4 cup Bear Naked low sugar ceral for 70cal. And if you wanted you could even add a piece of small fruit to bring it up to 200...
  18. Here's a bunch of plpaces to look into in Cabo - I don't know what your budget is so here's all different price levels: Cabo Surf Hotel Hilton Los Cabos Marquis Los Cabos Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Casa del Mar ME San Lucas (Melia) Dreams Fiesta Americana Casa Nataliaa (in San Jose) Presidente Intercontinental (San Jose) RIU Marbella en la Playa (less expensive)
  19. Thanks, everyone! I think in the end I do love the dress (now that I have my pics).
  20. Welcome! I got married in Cabo (but there aren't a ton of lush palm trees there). What about Costa Rica or Belize? I think both would be awesome (and a lot cheaper than Hawaii).
  21. Love them! you look beautiful! I love the picture of the back of your hair - it's gorgeous! Baja Cantina looks really pretty!
  22. I did cupcakes but we went ultra simple with it... I wish I had some right now to eat!
  23. You guys are so sweet! It feels good to hear nice things because of course when you look at your own pictures you can't help but notice some of your less than perfect attributes
