Yum! Yup - I am in Hollywood also - right near the Mayfair Market on Franklin. Those rolls look delicious!

Yup - Dan and I would love to come if it's not too late! I've never been there before. Is it in Marina del Rey? These are the directions I found on their website - does this sound right? From the Valley Area: Take the 405 South to the 90 West (Marina Freeway). Turn Right on Lincoln Boulevard. Turn Left on Washington Boulevard. We are past Pacific Avenue on your right hand side. From Long Beach / Orange County: Take the 405 North to the 90 West (Marina Freeway). Turn Right on Lincoln Boulevard. Turn Left on Washington Boulevard. We are past Pacific Avenue on your right hand side. From Downtown / East L.A.: Take the 10 West to the 405 South to the 90 West (Marina Freeway). Turn Right on Lincoln Boulevard. Turn Left on Washington Boulevard. We are past Pacific Avenue on your right hand side. From South Bay / Beach Area: Take Sepulveda North and merge left into Lincoln Boulevard North past LAX. Turn Left on Washington Boulevard. We are past Pacific Avenue on your right hand side.

I have dfone a Zone Delivery diet and it's pretty good. It was harder for me because I'm a pseudo-vegetarian (I DO eat seafood) so my choices were very limited. The desserts are great. You can eat out/drink occasionally but you jjust won't lose as much weight - and you'll waste money. So if you're going to do it - you need to be dedicated. It's easy to eat the dinner they send you and still be very hungry. However it does work - but like any diet there's no guarantee you would keep the weight off once you stop. I do WW now and while it's harder it's a lot more flexible (you can account for your drinks/snacks as long as you eat the correct number of points per day). I have pretty much done every diet in the world. I think WW and eDiets are probably the best fo losing weight and keeping it off. Speaking of which - i am off to my WW meeting!

My sister doesn't like my dress :(
gkashmira replied to Can'tHardlyWait's topic in Just venting or funnies
Buy it! That's an amazing price - you obviously loved it BEFORE you talked to her and I think you are torturing yourself continuing to look for "The Dress." I promise you it is perfect! -
OK - well I'll answer the question! Bring the respect back to this thread! I was expecting to be very calm. I had been having fun in the pool all day but as it got closer and closer to the ceremony I started havign to hold back tears. I don't know what it was I was just filled with SO many emotions and excitement and nerves. All that was running through my head was, "don't cry. don't cry. don't cry..."

Yup - I lucked out and got them for free I know Jenetta looked into it and i want to say it's $1000 for every 30 seconds or something like that. I would PM Jenetta I know she looked into them at one point. Good luck!

I am not "in love" with any of their dresses, but I hate to miss out on a bargain... Thanks for your kind words! I guess the lesson to learn is "do not try on a dress if you cannot afford it!" I think it's worth going to the sale if you like her styles and are ok with her prices (I can't remember what they are but they're not budget for sure). You may love something and be able to get it at a discount! or you might just decide what styles look good on you or the other way around! Good luck! -

Wouldn't it ultimately be up to your parents to decide how to divy up the finances? I would think they want to give each daughter something and would never just pay for one's wedding. So in the end wouldn't they just end up splitting things 50-50? This seems logical to me as well. I wouldn't worry about it!

UH-OH, my guests are not behaving!

This may sound crazy but I would be one of those people that would probably want to stay somewhere else. I don't eat meat and I have a lot of difficulties at buffet style dining. That being said, I may not buy a day pass to come EVERY day but I would definitely consider coming on at least one non-wedding day. Also, and I know this is totes illegal - but you know the beach is public property - if people need to stay elsewhere for budget reasons you may be a able to sneak a few onto the grounds for the just hanging out days (probs not the wedding though). -

If you do want to give people places to stay where they can save money I would recommend Marbella en La Playa. It's very close to Dreams and the rooms and food are very affordable. -
can a veil be fixed?
gkashmira replied to Christine's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The tulle cannot be fixed without it being visible - but it can definitely be shortened. ASnd who knows - in 20 something years when a daughter or neice wants to use it maybe they'll be able to fix it! The reason I know is that I lent my veil to a friend who is getting married in October. A dog ran across it and tore a hole and she has sent it all voe rhte country (before she even told me about it - i totally don't think she had to) to try and get it fixed. The bottom line is either they sdee the stitches (which honestly no one would even notice I think) or they shorten it. I don't really care because of course I've already worn it but just so you know. -

This way you know you searched everywhere for a dress you would love just as much, but it was simply not possible. It would make it a lot easier to justify $4800 for a dress and you wouldn't want to kick yourself after the wedding when you are still paying for it (assuming you would have to be.) This is a good idea. However as someone who went through the very same thing I would say in the end don't buy it. I know a lot of people would disagree with me and I really did love my dress. But it was so stressful and so much money and in the end I realized that it didn't matter that much what I was wearing - it's the day and the meaning that counts. Of course you want to look beautiful but I am sure there's another dress out there that makes you look gorgeous too! It may not be THE one but it may also be 1/10 of the price! Another idea is (if the dress is very popular like an ML) is to sell it afterwards. This is what I did with my ML but honestly it is hard to do and it sounds like your designer may not be as well known - which means it's harder to get people to pay you a lot for it... I definitely think having it made is also a good option.

Trunk show v. Sample Sale
gkashmira replied to Can'tHardlyWait's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
A trunk sale is all dresses by one designer. I think that they are often sold at a discount because they are trying to sell off their older stock. A sample sale can be one or many designers and is held by the bridal salon. They are selling the dresses that they have had in the salon - the ones people try on. These are usually size 8s and 10s. -
Jen - You must feel fantastic and relieved to have that part over with! I am so glad that you got the premiere suite that was promised to you too! I am definitely here for help or suggestions if you need them but I think you have it all uder control! When was that wedding again... hmmm... maybe we'll coincidentally be visiting the Hilton that night... hee hee hee! BTW I totally recommend the Sun Fun Hut over the Whale Wacthing terrace - it's really private - looks out over the ocean of course and also will have some shade for your cocktail hour... But whatever you decide it is really going to be the wedding of your dreams!

Honeymoon Registry - What do you think?
gkashmira replied to JaimeLynne's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My friend at work did it and loved it. What they ended up doing which was an amazing touch (and I'm sure took a lot of time and effort on their part) is that they literally took a picture of themselves doing all the wonderful things they registered for and got. Then when they sent their thank you cards they included a copy of the picture. anyway incase you decided to do it and want to be ambitious about how to thank people! We were totally going to do one at the same place (I posted a thread about it somewhere - I have no idea where it is now) but then I got lazy and well Indian tradition has people sending money anyway so we just used the money for our honeymoon -

Do you have any great butt/thigh toning exercises?
gkashmira replied to mpark46's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
yoga is great - especially the standing poses. -

Can lace dresses be shortened?
gkashmira replied to mpark46's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Quote: Originally Posted by mpark46 Thanks for the tips guys. It turns out that I'm looking for an Alencon lace dress (I learn something new everyday). Anyone know where I can find one? Monique Lhuillier does dresses in Alencon (a particular kind of french lace), as does Alvina Valenta and possibly Vera Wang. Beware that Alencon lace is very expensive, about $500/yard so keep that in mind when you check out these dresses. You may not want to try them on if they're not in your budget (most are 3K - 10K i think) -
Can lace dresses be shortened?
gkashmira replied to mpark46's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm positive you can have it done by a professional. My dress was Alencon lace over a lace slip and the seamstress hemmed it to the right length. Normally there's actually a peice of the lace that comes unattached - they cut the dress to the right length and reattach the bottom scalloped edge. I would just make sure that it's there. I can't see why it wouldn't be. Go for it! -
Gerber Daisy Centerpieces
gkashmira replied to foxytv's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
We also did gerber centerpieces - I loved them. We had red, orange, yellow and hot pink mixed (3 flowers per vase) -
Welcome Melissa! Where is DC do you live? I used to live in Foggy Bottom and loved it!
