I am sorry you are going through this. No matter what anyone tells you, it is still going to sting. You have every right to be upset and angry. As someone who had a destination wedding and had some people let me down, trust me when I say the people that are supposed to be at your wedding will be. Sometimes old friendships change and it is time to make new ones. I am only still good friends with a handful of people that I grew up with. People change. Some people were great "party" friends, others were great study buddies, others great shopping friends...well my life is now about my family so our best friends now are other parents with kids the same age. Also, as someone with kids, too much stuff going on, it would be hard for me to go to a destination wedding for a friend right now. If it was a great friend, I would make it happen but it would be hard.

Why don't you block rooms so you have more than 90 days with a locked in rate?

Well, the first think to keep in mind is that they are in different cities. One is in Cancun, the other is in Playa del Carmen. TA Wendy can probably chime in. She was just designated as top producing agent for 2013 for both those hotels.

Well, with Dreams Riviera Cancun it might not just be that the bride and groom get a free room. You can earn up to 3 free rooms depending on how many rooms you book through the block. This is given to you as a refund so some brides and grooms have divided up the $$ and given it back to the guests. Another thing to consider is that a group block is not just for the freebie or amenities. It is so your rooms are blocked so that they are available to your guests. I am sure you have read about brides freaking out 6 months before their wedding because the resort sold out (6 months BEFORE!) and there were no rooms left for their guests.
