  2. great to hear and welcome back....can't wait to get all the details and pics! Quote: Originally Posted by NATASHA I worked with Maye and the hotel had an onsite coordinator as well. If your hotel has an onsite coordinator - all the better. I clearly delineated jobs for our onsite vs. what Maye was doing. The hotel coordinator was the face on the ground (coordinating the photographer with us cutting the cake with the fireworks in the background starting as we cut the cake) and Maye was behind the scenes. It really went smoothly.
  3. i voted #2...if money is an issue, you can always have a fabulous honeymoon later like i am

One of the things I like about Dreams is that they will host full reception dinners on the beach with fireworks and everything - something RIU won't do (unless they've changed since then). Dreams has great wedding services, and excellent ceremony and reception sites. So don't be totally turned off just because security wouldn't let you in (although I understand how annoying it would've been. If you came from Nuevo Vallarta, it's a long drive!). thanks jonathan, i agree...if i were to get married in PV, it would be one of my top choices.

We are expecting 100 guests, no kids, and are overwhelmed at all of the choices of all-inclusives in this area. We thought CTA might be able to help us decide which place is best. Any advice would be welcomed. Julie and Mallory well, honestly, some of those bigger companies are not very great...they are not very customized and you do not have a face of someone you are working with. i would never use a company like that to plan my wedding. why don't you let us know what is important to you? location? food? luxury? what is your budget? what are you targetting as your per night/per room rate? we have alot of RM/cancun information on this site.
  7. hi alison, there are tons of cabo/mexico brides here...let us know how we can help. where are you getting married? when? how many people? have you found your dress?
  8. that is horrible that dreams did that too you BUT not too surprising because i heard it is a very private resort with a private beach so they are really strict about access...guests only. but for the WC to screw up like that...it is very surprising...where did you decide to have your wedding?

  12. hey there, there are quite a few riu cabo brides on...look for kristen (sprklz) and stephanie (raenjay). we are all here to help you so let us know!
  13. well, what about having a moment of silence to honor those that could not make the wedding...we did that...steve's best friend and my aunt had passed...that is a way to respect the bf and make his mom feel good...also, maybe in your fiance's speech he can mention and say something about his bf and bf's mom and how important they are etc... i just don't know how the moms are so i don't know if they will feel slighted. Quote: Originally Posted by VALERIE That is a really neat idea. Thanks! My next question - My fiance has a really close 'Mother' figure coming along with us to the wedding. Two years ago, Casey's best friend passed away and we have all become even closer than before. I'd like to do something special for her as well. However, I don't want to diminish or hurt the feelings of our 'real' Mothers. Should I or shouldn't I?
  14. i think it is nuts not to have a room block especially if you are doing dreams...dates in may and april are already completely booked at dreams. Quote: Originally Posted by REBECCA I agree with Tammy. A room block is a must. Dreams was totally sold out and I still had rooms on my block. In fact Dreams kept trying to get me to release the rooms I had left and I wouldn't. It helps to send Save the dates early. I did this and got verbals from a lot of people. I estimated 65 - 70, so I blocked 35 rooms and gave a $2500 deposit. I had to make my first room reduction by April. So I sent an e-mail blast to everyone asking that if they know for sure whether or not they are going to stay at Dreams, to please book their reservations by April 30th, so we can get a good estimate of how many rooms to hold on to. And that if they are still undecided, we understand that they can't book their reservation at this time. I blocked the rooms through a travel agent (and paid the travel agent my room block deposit) and gave them her contact info. About 80% of our guests booked by April 30th. That got me through our first couple cancellations. Each deadline that approached, I reevaluated and maybe send another e-mail. I ended up reducing to 33 rooms and ended up filling them all in the end!
  15. one of the gals posted something that was very sweet...when the bride walks down the aisle, to stop and pull one flower out and give it to the moms... i thought that was really sweet. i had the mothers wear corsages.
  16. sarah, your book is FANTASTIC! it looks so beautiful. juan's pics are GREAT! a few things: pg. 6 the broders are a little small-with the book crease and the cutting they may be even smaller..you may want to take this into account pg. 9 same thing. pg. 11-did you want this full-bleed? because that would be the obvious thing but i saw little itty bitty borders.
  17. i had an AHR (at home reception)...over 200 people...it SUCKED! sorry...that was mean..but it was really for my parents and all their friends...
  18. welcome sarah...we have a few sarah's on! congrats on the engagement!
  19. i agree...i didn't even start thinking about flower prices until about 2 months in advance... i just started compiling pics of what i wanted then sent them in...shopped around but did not finalize flowers until 3-4 weeks before the wedding.
