  8. i added a more recent map...dreams used to be called camino real and that is what it shows on your map
  9. Frommer's Review Formerly the Camino Real, this original luxury hotel in Puerto Vallarta was taken over by AMResorts in 2004 and turned into the premium all-inclusive Dreams Resort. It has the nicest beach of any Vallarta hotel, with soft white sand in a private cove. Set apart from other properties, with a lush mountain backdrop, it retains the exclusivity that made it popular from the beginning -- yet it's only a 5- to 10-minute ride to town. The hotel consists of two buildings: the 250-room main hotel, which curves gently with the shape of the Playa Las Estacas, and the newer 11-story Club Tower, also facing the beach and ocean. An ample pool fronts the main building, facing the beach. Standard rooms in the main building are large; some have sliding doors opening onto the beach, and others have balconies. Club Tower rooms (from the sixth floor up) feature balconies with whirlpool tubs. The top floor consists of six two-bedroom suites, each with a private swimming pool, and with special concierge services. All rooms feature ocean views, and are decorated in vibrant colors, with marble floors. In 2004, all rooms were completely renovated, with additions including two new swimming pools (including an adults-only tranquillity pool), a wedding gazebo, and upgraded health club and spa. Facilities: 5 restaurants; lobby bar; pool bar; swimming pool; 2 lighted grass tennis courts; fully equipped health club and spa; children's program (Easter and Christmas vacations); travel agency; car rental; convenience store; 24-hr. room service; laundry service; beach palapas w/chair, towel, and dining service; nightly entertainment.

I don't know how much anything costs but I hope this amount would cover all expenses as far as the food, flowers, photographer, etc... If anyone can give me a ballpark figure as to what they are spending (including # of guests) it would be greatly appreciated. I am so new to this forum and the whole DW thing that It feels really overwhelming! Thanks for all the help and quick responses I've been receiving since signing up just one day ago. Lots of Cabo Love, Rosa
  11. i have a bride scheduled for a may wedding at dreams cancun. she is going for her site visit in less than 2 weeks so she said she would come back with a bunch of pics, etc.

When my dad got really sick he used to always make me promise that I would take my sisters and we would stick together. I wish this all happened a couple of years from now when Ryan and I will be more stable. I just want to do everything right. Of course thats no possible. this made me sad...makes me think of my mom...her father passed away and her mom remarried and abandoned my mom and her younger sister when she was just 12...she had to go clean houses to survive...

  14. Hi Heather, Playacar palace is a great place to get married...i think Palace resorts do GREAT weddings! how many people are you having at your wedding? any "colors" or flowers picked out yet? jackie (ryjaxs19) is the cancun/RM/PDC mod and she has a ton of info..
  15. Mike was going to be married to Bonnie, so his father sat him down for a little chat. He said, "Mike, let me tell you something. On my wedding night in our honeymoon suite I took off my pants, handed them to your mother, and said, 'Here - try these on' She did and said, 'These are too big I can't wear them.' I replied, 'Exactly I wear the pants in this family and I always will.' Ever since that night we have never had any problems." "Hmmm," said Mike. He thought that might be a good thing to try. On his honeymoon, Mike took off his pants and said to Bonnie, "Here - try these on." She tried them on and said, "These are too large. They don't fit me." Mike said, "Exactly. I wear the pants in this family and I always will. I don't want you to ever forget that." Then Bonnie took off her pants and handed them to Mike. She said, "Here-you try on mine." He did and said, "I can't get into your pants." Bonnie said, "Exactly. And if you don't change your smart ass attitude, you never will." And she lived happly ever after.

Say if we were at Dreams, would it not allow guests who are staying elsewhere onto the property? they would most likely charge a day pass for guests not staying at the resort and that can be expensive It guess it would be helpful to know how much more expensives AI's are compared to EP's. Any thoughts? it can be a pretty big difference for the events. dreams los cabos charges $18-22 per person for a private event set up...this includes food and drinks...that would be hard to beat when you have to pay for food and alchohol..also, resorts like dreams and palace resorts have a "free" wedding package so they will provide officiant, help with legal marriages, blood test, etc. and barebone decorations/flowers, sometimes a small cake for bride and groom etc. In terms of dates...not sure yet. We're thinking Jan 2008 because our friends and families are mainly in Boston/NY and California. This way the weather will be snowy on the East Coast and rainy on the West...a nice warm getaway for everyone! We're struggling a little with our wedding parties. It would either be one each (our siblings) or 9 on my side and 7 or 8 on his. I know it's crazy, but I also want my friends up there with me! We go back and forth, but should make our decisions soon!!!
  17. hi melanie, there are a bunch of riu brides on the forum...off the top of my head i can think of stephanie (raenjay) and kristina (sparklz)...but there are more...the weekdays are a little busier on the forum so i am sure you will hear from them over the week or if you look in the newbies folder you will see the riu brides

We didn't want people to have to pay for all the other things (dress, make up, shoes, jewelry, showers, bachelorette parties, etc) on top of their travel costs. However, there are 3 ladies in my life whom I'd like to honor/acknowledge in some way. Any ideas? We won't be having any readings at the service and I think only one of them would be comfortable making a toast. Is there something else I can have them do or a gift I can get them or something? Any ideas would be appreciated. can i ask the age of the ladies? and their relationship to you? this might help me have a better idea.
  19. welcome melanie! PDC is a great place to get married....if you need any help Jackie (ryjaxs19) is the moderator of the RM/cancun forum but we are all here to help.
