Booking Rooms for wedding location???

regarding adey's comment... most room blocks do require a deposit BUT that deposit goes towards your travel costs...i have not seen a room block contract yet where you lose your deposit for not booking all the rooms....in fact most have dates that you can release the rooms with no penalty. if you keep the rooms beyond the "no penalty" date and still don't book the rooms, there may be a 1 or 2 night penalty but that is it.

Booking Rooms for wedding location???
TammyWright replied to DreaW's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
if you have a larger group, then blocking rooms is the way to go unless your guests are really diligent about booking early. Jessalyn is absolutely right when she says that rates can go up. this is an extreme case, but i have a room block for about $320 a night for a may wedding but by October the room rates had gone up to $800-1100 per night...OUCH! if you have a smaller group of just family, you can try to reserve rooms now at the lower rate and be done with it...i am doing this with ann's guests and they have been really great about booking early. -
dreams is very relaxed...you do not need to make reservations and i had no problem eating when i wanted to...even with a big group... some of the resorts have only ala carte restaurants so getting your prime dinner time at certain resorts can be tricky w/o a reservation...but for me it really was a non-issue because i tend to eat later when on vacation (after 8pm) because my day just sort of starts later (breakfast at 10:30, then lunch at 2-3pm etc.)

However, I believe that Armando will allow you to ue the site without booking rooms. I believe you have to pay a site fee though. as for your other questions 1. We are doing an open bar, but are bringing in our own wine. FH is quite a wino and we got a great deal from a winery in Napa that we belong to (well, the wine club that we belong to). They're not charging corkage. We negotiated all of this up front. Again, our wedding is going to be much larger than Christa's so we may have had more leverage for negotiation. 2. We're using Jennifer Hatton for our cake. I believe Janet used their cake. 3. We are not paying for our guests' transportation to get to the hotel. hi tasha!!

Dreams PV WC- Marilu

THANK YOU! I would think that my event is pretty simple, it's not a wedding - just a casual dinner. Or maybe that's why she's blowing me off, I am not a true Dreams bride. Anyway - let's hope you're right, and it does get better! sometimes you need to rock the boat a little. this is NOT the first time she has done this but is pretty consistent in her behavior. -

Granted, I have high standards - but she doesn't seem to be managing the basics. My biggest complaints: 1) I list out my questions and try to be very clear about what I am looking for; for example, I ask for a list of which areas are available for my dinner, and a picture of each. She responds with 1 picture, and doesn't tell me what it is a picture of. And in a separate email she did mention the pool and beach - yet the only picture she sent was a picture of some kind of patio (may have been the pool). 2) She gives me 1 word answers ("yes" or "no") to questions that I've asked for detail on. The question below was in my email, and all she said was "yes." 2) Also, I see you mention the pool area and the beach - are these the only areas you have available? Ideally I would like an outdoor location, perhaps a terrace overlooking the ocean? Could you please send me pictures that show what these areas look like? The one response I got back from her took a few days, and has taken longer in the past. What I don't get is why she just doesn't take the time to answer the questions completely; it would make this easier for both of us! There's no way I can justify hiring a WC for my WD only, but at this rate it might be easier! Also, I've had such a great experience with Nicole so far (Las Caletas WC) that anyone has a lot to live up to! the bummer thing is the great WCs in PV are expensive. ann, i really think once Marilu realizes i have gone over her head, she will put you as her priority. this happened at Dreams Cabo and i went over the old WC's head and after that she always got back to me promptly but not other brides, so i started asking the WC questions for them...they eventually fired that WC right before my wedding and the new one (marianna) has been fantastic and always gets back to me within the day usually. i think this will happen with marilu. i send dreams ALOT of weddings. i also own this forum. they should know better. -

Alexa ranks the traffic to your site. we are now ranked: 714,792 which does not sound high but that is compared to all the websites in the world so anything under 1 million is really good considering this forum is so new.

Yeehaww!! we finally have a pagerank of 5 on google! considering this site has only been in existence since aug/sept. that is a HUGE accomplishment. our numbers continue to grow. we have surpassed the 1000 member mark with about 600 unique visitors on the board a day! I think this forum is the most active destination wedding forum out there. Even more active than the knot! Good job ladies!!

Dreams PV WC- Marilu
TammyWright replied to amyh's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
amy, she has been horrible to work with. i know some WC are difficult before you book a wedding or if your wedding is a year away but she has been a PITA with ann's wedding. she will not answer my emails completely or send me the information i have requested. I actually just went over her head on friday and sent an email to the GM of dreams PV that she was not cutting it. that she either needed to respond faster, with the information i requested or i wanted to work with someone else. i hope to hear back from him by tuesday because it is a mexican holiday on monday.
