  3. your best bet would be to contact the hilton to see if they do something like this because i am not sure if you are allowed to grill on any of the public beaches.
  4. YAY!!! we want details...can't wait to look at pics...you look gorgeous...i can't wait to see the rest of the pics

  9. i'm like ann...we paid for the ceremony, welcome dinner, most group events and my parents trip but that was it.
  10. i think it is not a bad idea to open a cc form wedding expenses with either miles or rewards to make your big purchases (room block deposit, etc.) mbna.com chase.com both have a really great card out right now...no interest for 6 months -1 year then low interest and points.
  11. Hey everyone: i thought this might be helpful...they are luxury villa rentals. If you want any more questions on a specific Villa, let me know. Luxury Villa Rentals
  12. i thought they could book at the different resorts but just stagger the time...i think they have more than 1 event a day for all 4 resorts. it will be really ahrd to get a weekend day for nov. alot of them seem to be pretty booked. what other resorts are you interested in?

In the end our deposit goes towards our master bill for the wedding reception. that is very standard...the dep. amount is either a percentage or a flat $xxx per room.
  14. what about the other GP's...there are 4 resorts there?
  15. i cannot wait for her to get baack...she is so thorough and creative that i know she had a fabulous event.

Thanks Tammy! that is definitely one way to do it...or you can get a new cc w/ 0% interest rate just for the block...then people will book and pay their $$ so your deposit will just go towards paying for your room...when everyone books, the balance of the unused deposit will be creidted back to you...so you are using your cc as a loan. even better if your cc has miles or rewards.

There's no way anyone would pay that up front. If it's per block of 10 rooms, that isn't bad. Our block of rooms will be $200, but if we fill 90%, they take our $200 and put it toward our stay. If we don't make 90%, we lose $100 and get $100 back. For me, I thought it was much better to lose $100 to get everyone to stay at the resort with us, than to deal with griping about people having to pay day pass rates to attend the wedding. Plus, any gripes for travel mis-haps when they book on their own. actually mikki, $200 per room to block it is pretty standard...so if someone wanted to block 10 rooms they would put a deposit of $2000...of course this is not a definite number but i use it as a rough estimate...it sounds like alot but if you are staying a few nights (7) it is sort of like paying now but being able to hold the room. most individual bookings have you put $100 or more as a deposit so it would be pretty surprising to have a resort block a bunch of rooms, for so little $$. i guess every contract is different...but i have done dozens of room blocks and most range in the $100-200 per room deposit. i have done a few w/o any deposit but they were done as a favor to me.
  21. if you are staying at a more popular resort blocking rooms is always your best option. 1. rooms are blocked off for your guests. 2. the rate is fixed (you will see hotel rates go up alot the nearer the wedding date). 3. alot of resorts will give you "perks" for group blocks (ex. site visit, champagne cocktail party, VIP status, upgraded honeymmon suites) most of the blocks i have done have not been specific on the days needed to book...they have been really flexible with me and my brides.
  22. welcome...there are a ton of SJD brides here...let us know how we can help.
