  1. hi, i'm tammy...i have to be very honest with you...the grand mayan is probably one of the most uncoorperative hotels to get a room block. for one thing, most of their rooms are timeshare rooms so they have very few non-stimeshare rooms... and alot of the rooms are suites, which are great for families, but not so great for couple as they are expensive. hope this helps.

  10. not only did the airline let me carry on my dress, but they treated me like a VIP and let me board the airplane first and put my dress in the locker for the stewardesses/pilots. i dont think there is a list of airlines that will have something this specific but you may want to ask when you book your airfare if they will allow you to carry on your dress and/or give you special considerations.
  11. my DH wore a linen suit to our wedding...there is a short season on linen suits...they mainly show up around february/march...we found his at jcrew

  13. just so you know...dj antares does not MC at all so if the reason you are looking for an english speaking dj is to MC he may not be the best choice.
  14. we did 2 nights/3 days and it flew by...if cost/time off was not an issue, i'd have done 3 nights...
  15. one of our members, Leigh Miller, is actually there right now shooting a wedding... i looked into getting married there but the room prices would have been too high for my guests it is a fantastic place to get married...i'm sure when leigh gets back she can share some insight and pics.

  17. hey thats what my ring looks like...not like i have seen it in forever since my fingers are too fat to wear it. congrats and details please
  18. i had a friend like this...as soon as i got engaged you could see how jealous she was...telling me "too bad no one will be able to make it to you wedding" (we had almost 60 people...stuff like that. i finally had a good excuse to dump her and it was the BEST think i ever did... no more having to make up excuses not to see her to dread when my phone rang...i was FREE!
  19. no tipping..yes to the testimonials... i tried to tip my videographer and he flat out refused...so i asked if i could at least tip his assistant and he agreed to that
  20. kash, trust me it is so hard to get my fat ass to prenatal yoga... find a class that you really like...like they have a strip-arerobics class that i will take once i have the baby... maybe have a gym buddy that will meet you for owrkouts so can't flake for the smallest reason (i used to just make up reasons not to work out). schedule it into your week...i liked to schedule mine during work because it was easier choosing between work and working out...instead of choosing between working out and sitting on your couch. and lastly, treat yourself at the end of the week if you have met your goals...whether it is a frozen yogurt or a massage..

Did you get audio from the band at the resort you were at if you were at a resort? I never though of that! Thanks for the info!!! gosh, that is setting your standards low..no, none of my good pics came from my guests...i got some cute pics but nothing i would put in a photo album from my guests...i wanted them to enjoy the experience as well... and yes, the scenery is beautiful BUT if you do not have an experienced photographer to capture that beauty you are not going to get nice pics....look at some pics by sol, leigh, or juan and compare them to the hotel's photographer...there really is no comparison.
  22. some people opt to just plan everything when they get their and use the hotels standard decortaions etc... others choose to be a little more hands on so it depends on what you are happy with...alot of us gals also did a site visit to meet with the WC and nail down some of our wedding details. let me see if i can answer below: What should I be doing/planning? Hiring a photographer or use the resort's? i would most likely hire my own photographer...rarely (never) have i seen a hotel's photog anywhere near the quality i would want for my pics....but photos were important to me...may not be to you Hire a band or use resort's? i think it would be fine to use the resorts BUT they may be charging more than what you can hire on your own...i know i hired a mariachi that was differnt thatn the hotels and it saved me a few hudnred dollars Wait to choose flowers until we get there? for me, i asked the hotel to send me samples of what flowers they provided and honestly the bouquets were not what i wanted for my wedding...so i sent a pic of what i wanted...good thing i did because the resort did give me a price for the flowers that i wanted but i ended up getting them for 1/2 the price someshere else What songs to choose? Walking down the isle/first dances/wedding party...this i planned way before my wedding and i made a CD of the songs i wanted for first dance, etc...and coordinated with the DJ if he did not have the song i wanted, so this is not something i would have waited until i got to the resort to work on/decide i guess most of my planning (95%) was done before i even got to the resort...i just finalized small details once i got there...most gals on this forum did it this way...we just wanted our weddings a little differnt than what the hotel offered....
  23. congrats! you will have a stunning wedding at the O & O...it is gorgeous!!
