So shade gardens are the toughest to grow... I have a pretty good list of perinnials that do well in shade if anyone is interested. def. start a post on good shade perenials. i think sharing information is GREAT! gardening is just so therapeutic! We can't fence in the back side of our property which opens up into the woods and that's where they are all coming from. I've tried both bone and blood meal and that hasn't worked And it's not just rabbits, we have a raccoon as well that destroys everything! Do you use anything to repel bugs? I know that's going to be my next problem. i mispell all the time but figure if people can read it, its fine. what type pf bugs...first you have to diagnose what they are...alot of people think that bugs are eating their veggie plants when instead they are caterpillars (they are called worms though, like tomato worm, cut worm, horn worm). BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) is really good for caterplliars (aka worms) and is somewhat organic. It does not hurt beneficial bugs (bees, earthworms), just makes it so the caterpillars can't eat anymore and they die. It works within hours. I had a hornworm (pic on blog) eat most of my basil plant and another one start of my zucchini and i sprayed BT on it and no more munching on my plants. if it is slugs do the beer trap i told christa about...you put a shallow container flush with the ground so slugs/snails can crawl in easily and fill it with beer. The smells of fermentation or hops attracts the slugs/snails and they drown. if it is aphids, just try spraying them off or i just smoosh off with my fingers. if you have a real infestation try lady bugs. If i see lady bugs in my yard i move them to vegetable gardin. I also read people use sevin for insect control or daconil but am not sure how harsh they are. I bought some neem oil and that is supposed to be less harsh but have not had to use it yet :knock on wood: Quote: Originally Posted by Leia78 Very cool and informative blog! I think my only option is to put up a wire fence which I didn't want to do because astethically, they aren't the prettiest things ever.... At least it's still early in the season so I have some time to work it out! i read that you can make a cayenne pepper solution and pour it around your plants and it deters rabbits. some people claim it is cruel as it causes the rabbits to have itchy eyes but people swear it works. also, i think if you use either bone or blood meal, it is also supposed to be a deterrent but i forget which one it is.

  4. Hi erika, this is my first year gardening as well...lots of stuff to know but so relaxing and i really believe in the bonuses that we will receive from it (healthy, delicious food, grown locally...no fule needed to transport it...composting instead of going into landfill). what do you grow?
  5. i know this will be super boring to some but i thought i would share for any gardening enthusiasts here (christa, jessica).. Tammy's Gardening Blog
  6. i did obagi, microderms and IPL...do a search on here for obagi and you'll see my review... it was major but sooo worth it!
  7. i think most of the fishing/expediation companies are willing to negotiate if you have a group...there is no harm in asking, right? maybe while you're at it, ask if they will do a BDW special that you can post. It will give you some leverage and them some advertisement and BDW brides soem savings...so a win-win-win!
  8. The Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya has a great rate starting at $107.00 per person per night for their Deluxe Jr. Suite room for June. After that the rate goes up to $118.50 pp for the rest of the Summer months. * For more information, contact one of the BDW TA's (Tammy Host, TA Jennifer, TA Dina, TA Lindsay, TA Maureen, TA Jill). * Rates subject to change without notice.
  9. i've heard great things about the company and crystal so you are in good hands!
  10. for us suppliers, alot of rates are out already for the resorts but because you are in canada it may take longer to get the rates.
  11. it really sounds like she is just trying to put a damper on your wedding...that really sucks. give her all the proof you can but be prepared that she is probably going to pull something else out of her a** to complain about.

  13. deanna, i go to cabo once or twice a year. i have been there twice while pregnant and have taken my son down twice as well. we have also travelled with a ton of family (babies to elderly) and celebrities and have never had an issue. also, if it was so dangerous, why is it the weekend escape for all the stars? they are down there all the time.
  14. it really does suck...just remember that closing dates really should be called "estimated closing date" because so many things can happen to delay the closing. it really is not common for closes to be a few days late.
  15. i liked the beef bruschette (?), tamales (so good!), salsa and guac
  16. great review...i am so glad you met with yesica. she is so sweet... i think your guests will really enjoy dreams. ps. out of sfo alaska usually has the best non-stop rates...sometimes united are lower...but i usually fly alaska.
  17. melette, you poor thing with the layover...i hate flying through mexico city. for your wedding website you should warn your guests about the timeshare people...i did and it really helped. i'll send you some of my wedding website stuff when you are ready. ok, waiting part 2

No one is helping us pay for anything and I've been losing work left and right due to the economy. All of this my mom knows. It's not my mother's mother, it's her mother in law, my step dad's mother. In the 6 years my mom has been married to her current husband, I have seriously met the mother in law twice. The last time I saw her was either Christmas of 2005 or 2006, I can't remember. We want our close friends and family there. My entire guest list is about 25 people, nearly all of which will make it. The biggest part of the decision to have a destination wedding was to have a small intimate wedding. i totally get this. i would talk to your mother about your concerns about the wedding. maybe she feels really obligated to invited her in-laws but really what are the chances they are even going to go...if they do decide to go, make it clear to your mom what a financial strain it is on your wedding...also, referencing your previous post, since it seems like you are on a tight budget have you thought of NOT doing all the stuff for your BM's (family photos, dresses, etc.)

  20. divadivine, can you stop using symbols in all your posts...it is causing search problems and now i have to manually go back and edit all posts that you have made.
  21. so you are upset that your grandmother was invited to your wedding? honestly, how could your mom really tell her mother that they are not invited. i know it seems kind of rude because they were not on your guestlist but you need to cut your mom some slack....unless there was a huge falling out between you and your grandmother. i guess for our wedding, if family/friends were willing to shell out the $1200-2000 per person to attend our wedding then we would most graciously spend the $$ for the wedding/reception. i hope you don't take this the wrong way, but with your avatar, your thread about contracts, now this thread i have to wonder if maybe it might be a sensitive time of the month for you...hormones. i feel like i can say this because i am a hormonal mess most of the time with my pregnancy and some days get a little irrational.
  22. i have to agree with abbie that although it would have been nice if she refunded the deposit, she has done nothing wrong by NOT refunding it. The swine flu situation has been very hard on many people, both brides and vendors.
