  1. Quote: Here are my 7 picks: (I wish I had 2 or 3- this is why I need all of you) Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa (Apple rating: 6 red) Cancun Hacienda Tres Rios (6 red) Cancun Barcelo Maya Palace (5+ gold) Dreams Puerto Adventuras (6 gold-didn't look as nice as Dreams Tulum-went to Tulum last winter for a wedding) Adventura Cove Palace (6 red) Cancun Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Resort (6 red) Cancun Azul Sensatori (can't remember apple rating i agree with TA jennifer about working with a TA that specializes in destination weddings...picking a resort to have a destination wedding is way more complicated than trying to find a regular vacation resort. TA jill is fantastic and also a cancun bride. my 2 cents: Dreams has a great wedding department as does Palace resorts. palace also offers free amenities when doing a group block (min. # of rooms are required). Karisma Resorts (azul) does great weddings but I have had some issues with their level of customer service and some of their wedding policies so I chose to no longer book weddings with them...
  2. most TA's work on commission that the hotel/supplier pays. some TA's charge a retainer fee that is applied towards your travel, some don't.
  3. this is a great thread... if we get enough requests for a certain resort we can try to accomodate that.
  4. Hi Ladies, We are planning our annual BDW Cabo Trip. I will be staying at Dreams as will some other members but if you are in cabo around the same time, we would love to meet with everyone. We most likely will be booked between May 28, 2010 - June 6, 2010 (depending on the best airfare rates). For information on the resort, you can check out the resort site: Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa: Unlimited Luxury Defined. If you would like to go and stay at Dreams and want me to get some pricing let me know. Please email me with the following information to [email protected]: 1. your names as they appear on your passport (if you have kids, i will need their birthdates) 2. dates you would like to stay 3. if you want to include air, I need the airport you will fly from. If you think you might want to attend, respond here with the dates you are considering. If you have already booked your trip (YAY!), respond with the dates and where you will be staying. This would be a great opportunuty for someone looking to do a site visit. If we get enough people, I may plan something special like a wedding seminar/brunch where you can meet some wedding vendors, look at their work, etc. We can't wait to see everyone!!
  5. on the forum, it is really not recommended to ship anything down to the resort...i know...i also tried to ship some items for my OOT bags and they never made it...it happens often. ...BUT if you insist on shipping items their are broekrs that can assist you. the resort wedding coordinator gave us the name of a company that works in cabo but i do not know of one in cancun...

It is more then I was hoping for, but my FI seems to think its ok, and when you think about that being absolutly EVERYTHING included, it's not bad. I was looking at so many different places I was driving myself (and my FI) crazy. I finally got pretty excited and set on the RPRM and now I'm worried about the price. But then again, it is your wedding, you have got to do what you want and would be excited about. And you are kind of planning other people's vacations, you want to make sure they are going to get something that they love and feel like the $ is worth it. Good luck with planning! Looks like we are at about the same place/path with planning august and nov. pricing is going to be very different...august is the start of hurricane season and the weather can be a little too muggy for some...while nov. is the start of high season.
  18. welcome nancy...dreams has some of the best resort wedding coordinators so you may want to just start with them to see if that is sufficient and if not, hire an outside WC...there are many dreams cabo brides on here (i am one of them) and reviews so we really do have a ton of dreams cabo, vendor, pricing info on the forum.. my review is in my sig...other dreams cabo reviews: sarah jackieb jpkw ana edyta
  19. Cabo and riviera maya and 2 different places on opposites sides of mexico so it is really hard to compare apple to oranges. If you are travelling at different time of the year that is going to factor in as well. Also it is hard for anyone to say if your package price is high or not without knowing. dates of travel and where you are flying from.
  20. sherre is correct....a TA that specializes in destination weddings will give you a few options so you can chose the best route for you and your guests.
  21. You don't have to do group air. Your ta can help your guests book their air.

  23. hey all, i made this last night and it is surprisingly easy. Naan (14 servings) INGREDIENTS •1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast •1 cup warm water •1/4 cup white sugar •3 tablespoons milk •1 egg, beaten •2 teaspoons salt •4 1/2 cups bread flour •2 teaspoons minced garlic (optional) •1/4 cup butter, melted DIRECTIONS In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand about 10 minutes, until frothy. Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt, and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead for 6 to 8 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth. Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set aside to rise. Let it rise 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in volume. Punch down dough, and knead in garlic. Pinch off small handfuls of dough about the size of a golf ball. Roll into balls, and place on a tray. Cover with a towel, and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes. During the second rising, preheat grill to high heat. At grill side, roll one ball of dough out into a thin circle (1/4 inch thick), then pull it in teardrop shape. Lightly oil grill. Place dough on grill, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until puffy and lightly browned. Brush uncooked side with butter, and turn over. Brush cooked side with butter, and cook until browned, another 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from grill, and continue the process until all the naan has been prepared. (you can also save some of the balls in the refrigerator to make the next day and cook dough in pan on stove). Chicken Tikka Masala (4 Servings) INGREDIENTS Chicken Marinade (make day before) •1 cup yogurt •1 tablespoon lemon juice •2 teaspoons ground cumin •1 teaspoon ground cinnamon •1 teaspoons cayenne pepper •2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper •1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger •1 teaspoons salt, or to taste •3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces •4 long skewers Sauce •2 tablespoon butter •3 clove garlic, minced •1 small onion finally chopped •1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped •4 teaspoons ground cumin (garam masala sub) •4 teaspoons paprika •1 teaspoons salt, or to taste •2 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce •2 cup heavy cream •1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro DIRECTIONS In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, black pepper, ginger, and 4 teaspoons salt. Stir in chicken, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Preheat a grill for high heat. Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken onto skewers, and discard marinade. Grill until juices run clear, about 5 minutes on each side. (you can also cook chicken under broiler). Melt butter in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Saute garlic, onion and jalapeno for 1 minute. Season with 4 teaspoons cumin (or sub garam masala), paprika, and 1 teaspoons salt. Stir in tomato sauce and cream. Simmer on low heat until sauce thickens, about 20 minutes. Add grilled chicken, and simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
