jenn, like i said, i am a total foodie...i am actually ordering fois gras (don't flame me...i only do this once a year) form artisan fois gras to cook at home and have my own food blog (check it out! Tammy's Culinary Adventures)
i can pretty much cook anything i want and used to live walking distance from the farmers market at the ferry building in san francisco so i am really into fresh, artisan products AND have friends that are famous chefs (even won a james beard award)...some members here can also attest to the fact that i am obsessed with food network, top chef, hell's kitchen, etc.
that being said, dreams is def. not the best food i have ever eaten but i always look forward to it when i go every year. they do have a daily buffet that is cafeteria style...its a buffet for crying out loud...but the breakfast buffest is AWESOME...seriously. i love betty the omelet lady and would like to adopt her.
if people have an aversion to buffets, there are sit down restaurants like oceana, seaside grill, portofino, himitsu.
here are some other foodies that got married at dreams..maybe you can hit them up with some questions.
-kate- (used to be lala)...she is a foodie and i see her fb posts about top chef when i fb stalk her.
leia78: lives in bay area and is always going out to eat. stalks dine about town like i do.
JPKW: lives in socal so i am sure she's used to the same type of food your guests are used to.
check out all the dreams cabo brides...most of them are pretty honest about the food and service.
dreams cabo is the most expensive AI in cabo and is not even located in town...they also book faster than most resorts in cabo. if the food was as bad as they say, how would they be able to charge the price they do and are almost filled to capacity most of the time.
also, alot of brides that got married at dreams end up going back for their anniversary...would they do this if the food was that awful.
