hi matt, glad you liked the upcoming changes... -
Hi Everyone, I got a call from the wedding department at Dreams Los Cabos and they wanted to let me know that there is a new photography policy in place. Here is what was sent to me: Quote: Dear Dreams bride, In order to ensure a quality service, Hotel Dreams Los Cabos has built a new partnership with Photo Adventures, a very exiting photo company which will catch all those memorable moments on your special day. Starting from now, all wedding packages including photography will be covered by them. Please feel free to visit the following link in order to learn more about their photography and additional services: Adventure Photos - Adventure Photos For any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact your wedding coordinator. Mariana MartÃnez Alva Groups & Conventions Manager Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & SPA My understanding is If you book a wedding package that includes photography, Adventure Photo will be the photographer. You can still bring outside photographers to take your wedding pictures but you will need to pay for that photographer. I am not sure if this applies to weddings booked before this policy went into effect so you will need to contact the wedding coordinator you are working with to get more information.

Janine and Patourn, thanks for the support. Some days we get over 5000 posts a day, so it is surprisingly hard to keep the information on the site organized and useful. When people complain about the rules or that they should be allowed freedom of speech to post whatever they want, please be reminded that this is a private website. We do not appreciate spam on the forum. We also have rules about what is ok to post and what is not ok. Would you like it if people went on your wedding website and posted whatever they wanted? If you deleted a post in your guestbook from someone saying your groom is a jerk, is it not your perogative to do so? Also, there is a reason why we do not allow certain things to be posted, like sharing your photographer. We have over 22,000 registered members on the forum. What if every member decided to post that they were looking to share a photographer? Then when someone did a search on "photographers" the information would contain all the threads about people looking to share phtographers including threads made back in 2007. This information is not relevant to the site and not helpful to the majority of brides. If you want to share your photographer, post that info in your signature, that way when you have found someone to share you can remove the info from your signature. Or we do not like if you post the same thing in multiple forums. This is considered spam. 1. the information is repetetive. 2. which post do people respond to? now the information is spread in multiple threads instead of 1 central thread. Finally, whether you like the rules or not, they are in place and it is YOUR responsibilty to read them, understand and follow them. If you choose not to do so, you risk being banned and MAY NOT get a warning.

So I learned my lesson and this time have decided to work with TA Jennifer from this forum since she specializes in Beaches/Sandals resorts and that's where we are having our DW. Or if you know what resort or area you are interested in, you can look from posts from other brides - especially their reviews - and see who they used for a TA. Thanks for the kind words about the TA's on here. We do have a great group! Sometimes the resort is fully booked and it's just not possible. My suggestion is to book a room that you would not be disappointed with if you don't get upgraded - that's what we're doing. We're not booking the cheapest room, and we're not booking a suite either. If we don't get upgraded, I'll be perfectly happy wth our room....and if our TA or the resort can swing an upgrade for us, that's fabulous too this is fantastic advice. Upgrades are NOT guaranteed. It doesn't matter that you are getting married at the resort. If someone has paid to stay in all the upgraded rooms, they may not be available to you! I have a question though... when TAs book packages for groups do they deal with the resorts directly, or just through tour operators? Our package is out of Vancouver Canada and is through a tour operator... would my TA have to negotiate the promotion with Dreams, or with the tour operator?? Thx! Please note that these have to be rooms booked through the group block at that rate. Rooms booked via expedia, orbitz, internet sites, other TA's do not qualify. I work with both suppliers and the hotel directly depending on which will get my client the best deal. The tour operator will negotiate the promotions through dreams on behalf of your agent. hope this helps.

Our Dreams Los Cabos June 4th Wedding Review!
TammyWright replied to jennkurt's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
welcome back jenn! I am so glad things went so well. I loved working with you guys and loved meeting you!! I am bummed that I missed your ceremony by mere hours but my sister saw it and said it was beautiful. I WISH you had told me that you did not like your new room or at least told mariana. she would have been disappointed to know that you were disappointed in your room. I will let the hotel know about this problem. Unfortunately the receptionists have a hard time knowing who are VIP so your first line of defense is to let the wedding dept. know so they can assist you. now, more pics please!!! -
bump. It really is the responsibility of the user to understand and follow the rules of the forum. if you break the rules of the forum you will get a ban. we do not usually give warnings, a temporary ban IS YOUR WARNING!

PSA: Looking to share a photographer?

bump!!!!!! -
boogie, monse is really great and actually really supportive of allowing outside vendors so i am sure it won't be a problem but def. keep that email just in case. i know that they currently allow some outside vendors but may start only allowing preferred vendors soon but not sure exactly when that will happen.
-
if you are getting married at riu palace you may want to see what vendors they will allow on the resort as they have a strict outside vendor policy.
-
either the resort can quote some costs for you or you can contact luenas de fuego (search for fuego, i am sure it will come up).
-
i just returned from my resort site visit in cabo and hope to get some reviews out soon...i met with the wedding department at Dreams, Zoetry, Hilton, Riu Palace, ME, Las Ventanas
-
well i book ALOT of weddings with dreams and have never had an issue securing a date. for me, they never differentiated between small and big groups and just took bookings on a first come first served basis.
