Riu Ocho Rios Reception Location Ideas?

Hi everyone!

 

So we are all booked for our Wedding on March 16th, 2011. Only 7 months left....yikes! I am just looking for some advice regarding receptions at the Riu Ocho Rios. I am curious about whether or not to rent out a private location or if the semi private is a good idea. I want to make sure I get what I want sooner than later because there are quite a few weddings that week.

 

My parents have stayed at the resort and my mom was describing a wedding reception she saw that was located on the second floor of a restaurant and it was open air near the ocean. She did not know the name of the location...if anyone knows I would really appreciate some feedback. If you have pictures of your receptions that would be awesome as well. I am just trying to narrow down what is the best option for the reception and would appreciate any feedbacl at all from previous brides of the ROR.

Oh my god, your dress its absolutely gorgeous, you look stunning!

As per the reception, i am on the same boat, still undecided where to have it, i have read a lot of reviews of different reception types , you can have it semi private its usually held at Mammee Bay restaurant , and then have a private reception just for dancing and drinking or you can pay $55p/p for a totally private reception, by the beach, by the pool or at one of the restaurants , this includes, food and open bar. Do a search on reception at ror and you ll get tons of ideas, theres also pics of ladies that have already done them, im leaning towards the private poolside,, have fun planning !

Thank you so much for the feedback. I think I will just search out some options online and see what I come up with.  The private poolside would be beautiful. When is your wedding?

I am getting married April 5/2011 at 5pm at the beach gazebo at ROR. Location and ceremony have been confirmed , but i have still to hear back from the new Wedding Coordinator to arrange other details, apparently this only happens a couple of months before the wedding.

For sure use the search engine on this forum, its great, i found loooots of info here , in fact everything i know its because im now addicted to this website, lol.

How exciting,, you will be there a month before me, make sure to write your review and let us know how everything went, im sure it will be lovely !

I am getting married 10/2011 who is the wedding coordinator now? I have read horror stories from previous ROR brides that have dealt with Chandlyn (who is now supposedly fired).  What about your flowers and photographer? Are these vendors on site?

Hi you look beautiful in your dress. To answer your question the resturant is called the plantation. I will be having this for my private reception. Once decorated it looks great.

I'm getting married there 4/16/2011 but I think we will go with the semi-private reception.  I'm tryin to keep it pretty laid back - Jamaican style! 

We are having an AHR a week after we return so I need to use the $ for that instead.  I think it just depends on how many people are going and what you are willing to spend.  Good luck!
