~Angela~'s Planning Thread!!! * lots of pics*

Recommended Posts

Everyone says it, but I truly cannot believe my time has come. Without this amazing forum, I donâ€t know where Iâ€d be – definitely without inspiration and a sea of attempted DIY projects! I canâ€t say Iâ€ve loved every minute of planning, but I HAVE loved my time here – especially time well wasted in the SB!

Thank you so much; to Tammy for operating the forum, to the SB ladies for their support, always, and to every one of you who maybe I have never even talked to, for sharing your ideas and honest opinions (some of which I have probably borrowed!!!).

So, here is my planning thread. I had no idea what I was doing. Ask anyone and they will tell you I am the most indecisive person ever, so I really hope somehow it will all come together.

Regardless, I am beyond excited to marry the man of my dreams!

Engagement:

T proposed to me on the beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on July 12, 2008. Although weâ€d been together for over 6 years, it was completely unexpected because we had just bought a house. Little did I know he had the ring for quite some time. He says he was just waiting for the perfect moment wink.gif

Dress:

I searched and searched and searched! I didn’t end up going back to the first one either. I finally found what I wanted … plain, classic and elegant. The fanciest thing about my dress is probably the covered buttons down the back. I love it though!

This is at my last fitting. Excuse all the wrinkles!

TTD:

My mom refused to let me wear the dress she bought me in the water, so I purchased this dress for $99 from David’s Bridal (that is, after I bought a Jim Hjelm replica from China that I didn’t really love on me – it’s still for sale!). Yep, I know it sort of makes me look pregnant – I told my photographer that she will have to work her magic and make me NOT look pregnant! These pics are before alterations, although not much has been done to it. I just had it taken in at the top a little bit.

Veil:

I didn’t want one at first, then I decided that I did and thought it should be lace. Then I found this one and thought it went with my dress perfectly (though it’s hard to tell in this picture!)

Garter:

My mom loves to crochet, so she made me a crocheted garter!

Jewelry:

I found my jewelry on sale at Macy’s during a shopping trip to the States.

Bracelet(s):

Not sure which one I am going to wear yet ….probably the gold

Shoes:

I bought these shoes from ALDO. They are NOT the ones I REALLY want … however, unless I hear from J. Crew in the next 2 days, they are what I will be wearing.

Groom’s Outfit:

Linen pants from Banana Republic

Shirt from H&M

My FI specifically said do not post this picture on the internet!! So shhhh….. 

Bridesmaid Dresses:

Inspiration was the TwoBirds Bridesmaid dress, which I loved, but it’s a super simple pattern sold for a lot of money. I asked around to people I know for recommendations of seamstresses and found a lady willing to make our BM dresses. I have no preference as to how they tie the straps, so at this point, one will wear it strapless, one halter and the other on shoulder.

Here is one of the girls at the 2nd to last fitting

The girls will be wearing silver shoes and jewelry of their choice.

Groomsmen Outfits:

Same linen pants as groom from Banana Republic

White shirts from American Eagle Outfitters (of all places!), similar to groom’s shirt

Wedding Party Gifts:

For the guys:

We bought them their outfits and a money clip with their initials engraved on it.

For the girls:

I had such a hard time with this. My sister told me she didn’t want her dress paid for as a gift! I ended up purchasing the material for the dresses (we had them made), a cheapy travel journal from Michael’s and a watch (different one for each girl).

Here are two of the watches – didn’t get a chance to take a pic of the other two.

I owe a HUGE thank you to Kat who sent me her leftover OOT stuff from Montana as a wedding gift! wink.gif She is the best!!!!

Flower inspiration:

Inspiration for my bouquet:

This changed a million times!!!!!! I didn’t want to spend a ton on flowers, so this is what I ended up picking for me, but they are going to add in some ivory roses to go with my dress and the girls bouquets.

Cream rose boutonnieres – nothing too fancy. I didn’t even have a picture – just told the florist to make it as manly as possible with some greenery in the background.

Hair & Makeup Inspiration:

I am so all over about this, but I pretty much keep coming back to this. I just want something up, loose and beachy.

DIY Bride & Groom Signs:

I promise to update this part if these actually get done! At this point, I am not sure they will. It’s a DIY project that involves wooden signs, crackle spray paint and Bride and Groom stencils in script – inspired by Amy’s (KittenHeart) signs from etsy!

Thank You Sign from VistaPrint:

It was free, so I thought we might somehow be able to use it during our TTD. Perhaps get a picture of us holding it and put it on thank you cards or something?? Not really too sure yet!

AHR:

My AHR is being held in Cambridge, Ontario at The Pines

Click the image to open in full size.

Our invitations above included all the info about the AHR as well, and the RSVP card.

It’s a cocktail reception, so drinks, apps, and a late night buffet. We’re going to put together a slideshow of pics/video from Cabo and drink and dance the night away!

Guestbook for AHR:

I ordered this from Etsy and thought it was too cute – especially the little sign that goes with it. I just hope everyone at our AHR will actually do it!

Favours:

At our AHR, we’ll be giving out little favour boxes filled with 4 Lindt chocolates. The boxes will be tied with ribbon that says “From The Mr. & Mrs.” I found it at Michael’s and figured it was appropriate since we’ll already be married!

Angela, everything looks fabulous! Great job with so many DIY's! For someone who said they were all over the place, you certainly pulled it all together. You are going to be a beautiful bride! Enjoy every minute of your wonderful day!
