I did a search and could not locate a forum for October 2011 brides. I know there is still 14 months to go but time will fly by.

 

What resort have you picked? Where are you on the planning?

 

We are getting married at Melia Las Dunas. Planning right now is mostly notes and notes and more notes (thanks to BDW). We will be sending our STDs out this month since most of the FI family is not from Ont. We actually put our RSVP onto our STDs with our wedding website. This is where they will RSVP. I didn't want to have to send out invites too (saves on costs). What do you think of this idea?

Another October 2011 bride! =] Great idea of the forum...it's nice to be able to talk with other brides that have about the same timeline.

I'm Chelsea and my fiance is Eric. We plan on getting married in Rome, Italy...haven't picked a venue yet, but we're working on it.

 

As to your STDs idea, I think it's great as most people tend to RSVP online anyway. One thing though...does everyone you're inviting have a computer or internet access? I know almost everyone does these days, but there are some people that don't. So, just in case, I would add a number for those people to RSVP without having to do it online. Just a suggestion.

 

We have almost everything thought out, except venue. We're including RSVP through the STDs(phone number), invitations(reply postcard included), and website. Our Save the Dates will be plane ticket themed, and the invitations will be passports. As far as breaking the news to family and friends of the Destination Wedding goes...we're telling them during the engagement party at the end of the month. The engagement cake will be designed as a vintage luggage with clothes sticking out. The favors will tell the secret. It'll be clear plastic luggage favors, filled with candy in the colors of the Italian flag(green, white, and red), and decorated with a ribbon and luggage tag telling them where the wedding will be.

How did you tell (or plan to tell) everyone about the DW?

Hi Chelsea and glad to see another October bride here I was beginning to wonder if it was too early for this type of forum.

 

Wow getting married in Italy. I assume you or your FI are from there? Most of my FI's family actually everyone but his father lives in NFLD so we thought it would be great to all go on vacation and attend a wedding while they are at it. That and I am not one for a huge "princess" wedding.

 

Re STDs: Everyone in my family (minus the grandparents) have computers and email addresses so that's why we thought it would be perfect to do it that way. Also, if not they all have our phone number as well!

 

I am just finishing up the last of the addresses and hopefully get our STDs out before the end of the month. I cannot believe how fast time is ticking!!

 

We really didn't tell everyone - it just sort of happened. We never had an engagement party (never thought of it really). We knew before we were engaged that we wanted to get married on the beach and I think our parents knew that already. I think everyone is just excited to go away for a week!!

Hi ladies. I'm Kathie and I'm getting married October 20, 2011 at the Westin Resort Aruba. We have a website and are going to put the address on our STD's. On the site we asked people to tenitively RSVP just to get an idea. We will be sending out invites also.

 

Chelsea, - my STD's are boarding passes and my invites will be passports too! I just ordered mine. I will be receiving them in about 2-3 weeks. I was going to wait until October to send them out because I thought it might be too early but seeing you ladies are sending them out I guess it's okay.

Neither of us are from Italy actually. My fiance is English and I'm from the USA. I am part Italian though, but I don't know any family from there so I'm not sure it counts as much. =/

The venue choice is a bit tough. Not many websites have choices and we're not getting a wedding planner until we decide on one, so we're probably going to plan a short visit to make our final decision.

You made a great choice. We were considering a beach wedding too as I think they are beautiful with all the scenery. However, we decided not to for different reasons(most considering our family) and to have our honeymoon on the beach instead.

I can't believe how fast time is going by either! Thankfully October 2011 is still a bit over a year away.

I don't think it's ever too early to send out Save The Dates for a DW, so no worries. I think it's best to give the guests as much of a heads up as possible for ample planning time.

I was glad to hear someone had the same idea for STDs and invitations. What are yours decorated like and where did you order from? We haven't completed our order yet, but we're sending them out as soon as we get them. We know what we want, but we're temporarily stuck between these two invitation sites to order from: weddinginvitationdesigner.com and passportinvitation.com

Hi Ladies,

 

My name is Quiyana aka Q and I too will be getting married in October 2011 at Riu Palace in Punta Cana Dominican Republic. Venue is booked and confirmed.

 

Regarding STD's & Invites - I sent an informal info flyer out via email informing family and friends of the DW, the package cost, payment schedule & travel agent info.

 

Once 1st deposit is made, I will send thank you post cards to ppl for booking their package. (100 FREE postcards from Vistaprint, paid $6 for shipping)

 

Since we're doing a package deal, flight info for our group is not available until around 1 year out from travel date. In Jan, I plan on sending out boarding passes with flight info. (DIY Project - template from this site)

 

In April, I plan on sending out passport books (DIY project - template from this site) with info on the resort and how to get a passport.

 

In Sept, I plan on sending out pre-wedding brochures (from Vistaprint) with local and travel information + luggage tags (DIY Project - template from this site) to all guests.

 

Since we're over a year out, I'm hoping to keep the guest excited about the upcoming trip, with the various mailings!

Hi Q! Wow, you have such great ideas! Thanks for posting the vistaprint prices and service. I haven't used that in a long while, so I'm sure they have a lot more free items now. I'll have to check it out.

VistaPrint has been such a lifesaver - this is where we got our STDs from. They were fairly cheap. We used a postcard template.

Hello Ladies! I'm a July 2010 bride but just wanted to chime in on Vistaprint. I got such lovely stuff most of them for free( only paid for shipping)

 

I got tote bags, tshirts, hats, pens, sticky pads, welcome brochures, photoshare cards. I gave the bags and tshirts to bridal party and they loved them.  I simply put Aruba/ July 2010 on all items. The brochures and photoshare cards were placed in guests oot bags.

 

Since you ladies have time start placing orders now!
