October 2010 Brides?

Just thought we should start a thread for all the October 2010 brides out there!

 

I feel so lucky to have found this forum now, so hopefully I will have time to get to all the amazing and inspiring ideas people have put in the forum!

 

Well, our save the dates were sent out with the Thank you notes from our Engagement party (back in Jan 2009) lots of notice I know - but not many girls do destination weddings in Australia so I need to educate everyone and give them enough time to organise themselves

 

We are getting married on October 20th (in Australia we write the date dd/mm/yyyy so it is 20-10-2010) in Fiji

 

So where are you getting married and what October date?

Yay finally an Oct 2010 thread!!

 

We are getting married Oct 10 in Cabo.

 

Once we finalize our website we are sending save the dates, probably in early fall or close to the one year point.

WOOHOOO! October Brides here we are! I see my date twin has beat me to the punch! (wink) I am getting married in Tulum, Mexico!

I feel like Oct 2010 will never get here.

 

But I just ordered save the dates! They are supposed to arrive at the end of the month. Have you guys started in on the planning yet?

I am tring to resist the temptation to do too much too soon.

 

Destination weddings are really uncommon in Australia, so we sent out our save the dates in January of this year! We will send invites as soon as all the details are sorted - but then I worry about them getting put to the side with all the craziness of Christmas... So I haven't decided if we will wait until January - I think that will probably be better. Then we will send a reminder postcard about end of July (thats the end of our winter so a good time to remind them about our lovely summer holiday to fiji ! )

 

I have a mass of ideas - so i guess its good that we have some time - I want to do painted parasols etc etc. I have the BM dresses - got them for a bargin in the boxing day sales last year! and they are multicolour patterned dresses - so all of my colours and planning are coming off that. I had my first wedding dress shopping day on Saturday - its was crazy - I am plus size and I can't believe the lengths she went to to get me into dresses! She was cutting seems and unpicking the bustle! but it was so good to be able to see so many styles on! I went in with a set idea of what I wanted - and of course, what I now like (suggested by my fitter) is nothing like what I had in mind!! But great great experience, but I dont want to decide just now - I think around January I want to put in the order - that still gives me plenty of time to get the dress in, and get any alterations done...

 

I go on my site visit October this year - so thats when I will confirm everything with the hotel, and organise the deals for our guests.

 

I've started working on my wedding website Darren & Jo - wedding website by mywedding.com

 

My friend is designing my monogram, she is on the other side of the country, so this is a slow process, which is good - coz that means its slows me down too. But at least thats a start.

 

Photography is my big concern at this stage. I haven't come across a local photo that im happy with, so im looking into other options. I'm actually coming around to my mum's idea of not having a photographer, and just getting a couple of my friends who are amatuer photos to take photos - her theory is that have 400 spectacular photos is amazing - but you only really could ever use a handful of them - so all you really need is a handful of stunning photos... anyway, we will see how that goes...

I agree it's hard to take things slowly when you just want to jump in because you have great ideas! I have done quite a bit so far and now there's just over a year to go and I really want to finalize everything. I just want all the planning to be done!

 

My save the dates arrived yesterday I was very excited! But we still have to go over the guest list again. And obtaining addresses will be a nightmare. Also FI is supposed to be putting the web site together but really nothing has happened so now he's asking me to write all the pages.

We are tentatively planning on October 2, 2010 in California. I really wanted to do 10/10/10 but it was asking too much of my family to travel for a Sunday wedding (I have a huge family, otherwise i would just go for it!! - i think that is the coolest date)

Jwilke where in California are you planning to get married? I strongly considered California and am still feeling guilty like I should've stuck with it!!!
