I think that I’m going to explode if I don’t get this out…

..so Iâ€m going to share with all of you ladies.

Last Wedneday I had a positive pregnancy test (well, 3 of them. I just couldnâ€t believe it so had to go back out to the store). I didnâ€t really think that I was pregnant. I hadnâ€t had my period for awhile, but this was not unusual. I likely have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which means that I donâ€t ovulate regularly and so donâ€t get my period regularly. My cycle had been getting more “normal†but the last few cycles were around 40 days. So I was a week and a half or so past 40 days, but just thought that it was the PCOS. My breasts had been tender but only like they often are just before Iâ€m going to get my period, so I just thought that it was about to come. Oh also, I have (well, had) an IUD in, so I wasnâ€t real concerned because of that too.

Finally though, something told me that I should do a pregnancy test. My finance thought I was crazy when I came out of the bathroom and told him that I thought we were pregnant. The line was pretty faint and he didnâ€t believe it, so wanted me to go get one of those “more accurate ones, like digital or somethingâ€. Heâ€s a computer guy and likes technology, I donâ€t think that he realizes that they all kind of work on the same principle. But I was pretty surprised too, so was happy to go out for a second and third opinion. Well, they both came back positive. How did this happen? Iâ€m using pretty effective birth control and Iâ€m hardly ovulating!

So, it was too late to call the doctor, but I did first thing in the morning. They managed to get me in to see a doctor that night after my urging that this was veryy important since I had an IUD in. It was a LONG and unproductive day at work (not that any of them have been since finding this out)!

So at the doctors they did another test and again it came back positive although still a bit faint. The doctor removed my IUD. This could cause me to miscarry right now, but could cause a lot more trouble in the future if I left it in and carried on with the pregnancy. Since my periods arenâ€t regular, Iâ€m not really sure when I ovulated and so donâ€t know how far along I am. The doctor scheduled me have an ultrasound to date the pregnancy, but itâ€s not until next Thursday (over a week away). And then I donâ€t get to see her again until the following Wednesday!

Iâ€m going crazy over this! All I want to do is keep taking pregnancy tests to see if Iâ€m still pregnant, but Iâ€m trying to wait a few more days for that. I havenâ€t had any signs of a miscarriage, but I donâ€t really have too many other symptoms of being pregnant either, except my sore and bigger boobs. Iâ€m worried that the test was faint because I was pregnant briefly but am not anymore (I think they call that a chemical pregnancy). Iâ€m not really feeling nauseous I donâ€t think, just maybe nerves about not knowing. This worries me too. I donâ€t know how Iâ€m going to wait until the ultrasound and seeing the doctor.

Oh yeah, and then thereâ€s the wedding. Weâ€re getting married in January, when I am likely to be around 7 1/2 -8 months pregnant. Iâ€ve already ordered the dress and thereâ€s no way itâ€s going to fit! I still needed to lose 5-10 more pounds to make sure it fit properly. What if Iâ€m not able to travel? The doctor said if Iâ€m healthy it shouldnâ€t be a problem, but what if Iâ€m not? We donâ€t want to tell anyone about it yet until we know more information but Iâ€m worried about the trip and the fact that almost everyone has booked with their deposit. Weâ€re excited (we think) about being pregnant but this is just such a shock and not how we planned. We wanted to start trying as soon as we were married, so itâ€s not a bad thing, but just bad timing. Iâ€m also worried about getting too excited in case it doesnâ€t work out and I do miscarry because of the IUD or any other reason.

Oh, and then thereâ€s also the guilt from the fact that Iâ€ve been enjoying summer so far and have been having a drink or 2 every few days. I havenâ€t been drunk really, but this is something that I would have avoided if I even had an inkling. It just adds to the pressure.

Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. Iâ€m sorry this is so long but I needed to get this off my chest and knew that you girls would listen.

congratulations!!!

my colleague just went thru this (well not the wedding, travel, and dress part, but the unknown pregnancy part). she said it nearly impossible to not go into every pharmacy to pick up a pregnancy test on a daily basis. she's now 4 months pregnant.

is it possible to move the date up? i'm sure that thinking about that on top of everything else is causing more stress, but everything will fall into place, and whatever decision you make, your guests will understand.

If your preg. congrats. My brothers gf is pregnant and her doctor told her that there are no false positives only false negatives if that makes you feel any better. Also she is 5 months preg. and has had not sign of being preg except in her 2nd month and now she has gotten a little belly.

As for wedding details everything will workout. If you are preg. possibly move the wedding date up or back. As for the dress what style is the dress possibly you could add a corset back so you can loosen it. Or the salon may allow you to select another dress.

Everything will work out just dont stress I know that is hard to hear but its the best thing for all of you. Good Luck!!!!

Try to relax (even though I know it must be tough) and think positive. The dress issue can be resolved...sell the first dress and buy a new more belly accommodating dress. Focus on staying strong and healthy now and don't worrry about a drink every now and then in the past few weeks.

And finally, congratulations!

Well first off congrats. Second I think you may want to double check on the traveling thing. I have always been told you shouldn't travel in your last trimester, plus what if you deliver early? You may want to consider either pushing up or pushing back your wedding date.

Congrats! I'm 2 months along and have no symptoms either. If I didn't have a positive test, I never would have believed it. I actually took another test about a week after the first one because I thought maybe I had a miscarriage and didn't know, just because I really had no signs of being pregnant.

Is there any way that your doctor can get you in sooner?

About the drinking... I did the same thing and my doctor told me not to worry. Just stop drinking now and start acting like you're pregnant... eating right, exercising, limiting caffeine, etc.

Your wedding will work out. You can either try to move it up or rearrange your plans. Not to sound cliched, but everything happens for a reason, so I'm sure this will work out fine. Good luck and keep us updated!

What a stressful, surprising, exciting and wonderful situation to be in! I can imagine this is a lot to take in and process! The not knowing is probably the worst part...but the good thing about that is your answers are coming soon. Just gotta take a deep breath and what will be will be. smile03.gif
