Should we register?

Recommended Posts

We weren't planning on registering anywhere, we want "your presence at our wedding is a gift enough" but people keep asking us what we want for wedding gifts.

We don't want to say "just money" either, because I feel that's tacky. Another question, if we do register, do we include that info in our invitations or just leave it on the wedding website?

We weren't going to register either. Same boat as you. Everyone kept asking, Where are you registered, what do you want?

And finally I gave in and went in registered only 2 weeks ago! LOL.

I registered at one store. and the store sent out little cards to my entire guest list of where I'm registered at.

I thought it was weird registering since I'm having a DW and all, and it's amazing that people are even coming so far to our wedding, but at the same time, it eliminates people saying, WHERE ARE YOU REGISTERING/WHAT DO YOU WANT, etc. LOL.

I think a lot of folks can relate.

DO NOT put your registry in the formal wedding invite.

Whoever hosts your bridal shower (etiquette says) should tell/put cards to where you're registered at in the shower invites...

I'm glad that you said that. I was thinking that it was pretty tacky to put the registry information with the invitation, but we keep getting invitations with those littel cards in them, so I was beginning to think that it was becoming "untacky"- LoL, is that even a word?

What about on our wedding website, there is a spot for "registries" would I put them on there? We aren't having a bridal party here, too many of our guests live out of province.

John and I were also on the fence about registering. But really when it comes down to it your family and friends are going to want to give you a gift of some sort. I would suggest that on your registry you have a wide price range for people to chose from. I agree with not listing your registry on your formal invite. Tell your bridal party and your mom/mother in law so they can spread the word or be in the know for when people ask.

i would have to agree on the registry not being part of your invites. we put ours with the bridal shower invite & we put it on our website under the registry part. people were asking us all the time too if we were registered anywhere and when i told them we registered at crate & barrel we got funny responses. so we went to target for a second registry for those who don't normally shop at c&b. my family is such a pain in the butt!!

You can register... or you can get a bunch of stuff that you don't need or want. Lots of people won't want to give you money, they want to give you something tangible. So register to save yourself from receiving that really unattractive, highly modern vase-ish-thingy that so-and-so thought would be a lovely addition to your very traditional home.

There are registries, such as Bed, Bath and Beyond that will let you return things for cash. Others will let you return things for credit, so make sure you register somewhere that you like to shop.

I'm registered at two. One at Macy's for all the ususal wedding stuff (china, etc.) and one at a outdoor furniture place (FI's idea).

But most usual places (Macy's, Pottery Barn, C&B, BB&B, etc.) all let you do online registries. I've heard that registering at Target is hit-and-miss because they won't let you return stuff as easily as you might want to.

Hey, is this idea possible?

My fiance and I really really want a canoe and have almost bought it several times, but it's like close to $3000, so there is no way until after the wedding.

What if, and I don't even know if it is possible at Mountain Equiptment Company, but can you register for a big item like that and have people contribute to the price of it?
