The most comprehensive people search on the web

I googled myself today and found yet another reason to keep personal information off the internet: Pipl - People Search.

Basically anyone can key in a first name, last name (mine is unique), city, state/province, country, email, username &/or phone. And ta-da, there is all is, on one page. Very handy if you're looking to steal someone's identity. This will help fill in the information.

There are various reasons why you might need to search for people, you may need to find a lost relative, an old flame, a classmate or a business contact - but if you are using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo to search for people, you have probably realized by now that it might work in some cases but in most cases it won't.

How come the best search engines fail so miserably when it comes to people search? The answer lies in a little known but very important part of the web called "the deep web".

Also known as "invisible web", the term "deep web" refers to a vast repository of underlying content, such as documents in online databases that general-purpose web crawlers cannot reach. The deep web content is estimated at 500 times that of the surface web, yet has remained mostly untapped due to the limitations of traditional search engines.

Since most personal profiles, public records and other people-related documents are stored in databases and not on static web pages, most of the higher-quality information about people is simply "invisible" to a regular search engine.

Pipl's query-engine helps you find deep web pages that cannot be found on regular search engines.

Unlike a typical search-engine, Pipl is designed to retrieve information from the deep web, our robots are set to interact with searchable databases and extract facts, contact details and other relevant information from personal profiles, member directories, scientific publications, court records and numerous other deep-web sources.

Pipl is not just about finding more results; we are using advanced language-analysis and ranking algorithms to bring you the most relevant bits of information about a person in a single, easy-to-read results page.

What is this Profile?

A Pipl Profile is an automatically generated profile that contains a summary of information found on the web.

How did Pipl get this information?

Our deep search robot continually crawls the web and extracts facts and other relevant information from general web documents, personal profiles, blogs, news articles and other publications using natural language processing and statistical analysis; this data is then automatically converted into quick, simple and interlinked people profiles.

How accurate is the information?

Pipl does not verify the accuracy of the facts or the relevance of the tags in each profile, we merely cite publicly available information found on the web as interpreted by our robot.

Since this product is in an experimental stage, some errors are possible; we'll be happy to hear your feedback and will try to improve our data accordingly.

Who is Pipl?

Pipl is a People Search engine, we aim to provide the most comprehensive results when you search for people.

What about privacy?

Understanding the potential sensitivity of people's data makes privacy a very important issue for us. We only create profiles with information that is already available on public web pages and we allow you to remove your profile if you wish to do so.

The information in my profile is wrong - can I fix it?

At this point, there is no way to correct your information but you can request to remove your profile completely.

How can I remove my profile?

If you would like to remove your profile, please click here.

I found an old account that I forgot I had!! I managed to sign on again and delete my account. I'm going to be doing this for a while...popcorn.gif

Luckily for me my last name is not very common so I found very little info on me--except a myspace account that I have absolutely no recollection of creating..says my last login was 2007??!! However I hit the jackpot when I typed in my FI's name--it brought up his D.O.B, schools he attended and his graduation dates, names of family members, his traffic tickets dating back over 10 years!

My FI's name is very common, so I wouldn't be able to narrow it down. Come to think of it, I don't want to know. lol
