Recommended Posts

I am just completely DISGUSTED by what I am reading in this thread!!!!

I'm so sorry for what some of you girls have been through.

I haven't been wedding dress shopping yet, but was thinking about at least having a look at David's Bridal, but after reading this let me tell you there's no censored.gif way!

Some would say you get what you pay for. My opinion is that you spend the extra couple of hundred (or more) bucks and go elsewhere. Then, take the dress to a professional tailor. The "rinky-dink" tailors are very fair priced and they make sure they get the job done right because they cant afford to lose any business. Davids, as so eloquently mentioned by the corporate office, can afford to lose the business.

i'm so glad i'm not the only one who has had an experience like this! it's such a shame too because some of their dresses are absolutely beautiful!

i actually didn't even show up for my original appointment to try on wedding dresses. the day i got engaged i went in to get measured.. i am a BM in my brother's wedding and no shops around here had the dress we are using so i needed to get my measurements and call that store with them. they REFUSED to take the 30 seconds to take my measurements because i wasn't getting a dress from their store. little did they know that they lost out on my wedding dress business because i wasn't getting a BM dress from them!

also, my mom was trying to find a dress for my brother's wedding and went in and asked if she could try on bridesmaid dresses instead. her style is not the typical "mother of the groom" dress style. well the lady told her they wouldn't let her try them on because she wasn't actually a bridesmaid. she made my mom CRY in the middle of the store!!

i'm glad to hear that some of you did have good experiences there though, because i'd hate to see brides not getting their dream dress or BM dresses just because of their terrible customer service!

I am also an unfortunate David's Bridal bride out there.

First, they didn't even know what a birdcage veil was, after I told them to stop putting tiaras on me, I already had a veil. Then they charged me $1 for a color swatch. Are you serious? Not to mention I've had vendors bugging me on my cell phone, after I checked the "Do not Contact Me" box when I filled out the information sheet. Then, they order one of my bridesmaids dresses in the wrong size. Then proceed to tell me that they almost couldn't order it, since it was being discontinued.

Not to mention the bridesmaids shoes I had to run all over town for, since they had also been discontinued as well, even after I specifically asked them if they would be discontinued.

They really are the Wal-mart of bridal salons, that's for sure. And they never prove me wrong everytime I walk in there. The list goes on and on- I feel your pain.

Honestly I wanted to punch her in the face, but I was there during my lunch hour and I had a important meeting afterward so I had to act appropriately. I was going to walk over to the manager and complain but was it worth it? I wasn't about to give that lady any reason to think she had gotten to me that bad.

Funny, I actually just got a survey about my experience at DB via email today. I wrote that while I had a good experience in that 1 location, I know a lot of other women who've had terrible customer service, especially with alterations, in stores across the country. I said they need to focus on hiring high-quality professionals, stay consistent across all of their stores, & value their customers or they'll be losing a lot of business.

Maybe it won't make a difference, but at least I voiced some of our concerns & we can only hope!

I've heard many many horror stories about David's Bridal. That's the main reason I never even considered going there to look for dresses for my wedding. I did get a BM dress from there for my sister's wedding but I knew ahead of time that they had horrible alterations so I never even considered getting it altered there. Although all I needed was for a few inches to be taken off the bottom I wasn't going to chance it. My cousin had a friend who ended up with pins still in her dress on the day of her wedding!

Okay ladies, well I'm going to David's Bridal tonight and am so glad I read these posts. I don't plan on buying anything from them. I just need an idea of what style of dress I want. I plan on buying my dress online. Also, if you do buy from David's DON'T get the alterations done there. Bring your dress somewhere else to be altered. David's charges an arm and a leg. I will let you all know how my experience is tonight.

Well ladies, we got the issue resolved. Let me first start by saying DB caught wind of this thread because they apparently search for negative feedback about DB online. So, if you do choose to go there and have a bad experience, just post a blog or thread somewhere indicating all the facts.

So, they finally got my dress altered the way it should have been done to begin with. It is a little bit tight around the ribs but I dont want them touching the dress any more. I can deal with it being tight. So when we were getting ready to check out, I was ambushed. The lady asked if I posted a blog which was bashing DB. She actually gave me a print out of the first page of this thread. She told me it would be in my best interest to take this blog down. HA!! No way lady. I am telling everyone I can about my horrible experience with your store!!! The more people that know the truth, the better. I didn't really think I was bashing DB anyways...i was just telling the facts of the case. So, thank you all for all of your feedback. I am still interested in hearing other peoples experiences there, so feel free and keep this thread going. It might come in handy if I decide to go to the media about this (or have to defend myself in a lawsuit.)

..Oh, by the way, they were soooo generous and told us they would refund $50.00 to us. That is so nice of them considering they are a huge corporation who (according to corporate) can afford to lose business. Wierd!
