Thank you. We had our reception at the Steakhouse. It's open air and it was HOT! Even though there are ceiling fans, we were on fire! LOL. I don't know if it was because we were dancing, but it definitely warmed up. As Myen mentioned, the food was delicious. The layout was ok. Nicole offered to have one half of the restaurant cleared and used as a dance floor. However, we opted to have a mini dance floor created near the dinner tables so that guests wouldn't have to walk to the other side of the restaurant if they felt the urge to dance while eating. It worked out pretty good. We didn't feel too crowded. It was intimate.

I hired a photographer from NYC, who was referred by a friend. I paid for his travel expenses in exchange for his services. He took pics the entire weekend. I'll post some once they're available. He did a wonderful job and was just as excited about our wedding as we were.

The pics I posted of the lazy river island set-up were taken by the resort photographer.

OK, so you're the one I saw last weekend :)

Thanks for posting the pics! I love the set-up at the lazy river...looks beautiful! We might have around 100 guests so that probably wouldn't be an option for us sad.gif

I would love to see pics of the reception set-up when you get them. How many people do you think could fit in one half of the restaurant without a dancefloor? Since we have a large group I'm worried about having to split into 2 sections of the terrace. Was the inside of the restaurant air-conditioned?

So great to be able to talk to people who have had weddings there! Thank you so much for your help.

100 guests on the lazy river island would definitely be a tight squeeze. I would say it could hold up to 75, maybe 80 guests maximum.

We had 6 rectangular tables with 12 plate settings each. You could probably squeeze in 2 more tables comfortably, but your dance floor would definitely have to be on the other side of the restaurant.

The inside of the restaurant was not air-conditioned, but for some reason it's cooler.

Hey Briscoe,

Are you have as hard a time adjusting as I am? My DH says he misses the humidity because his skin has been so "ashy" since being back. Personally, I miss the Jamaican corner of the buffet.

I took a look at your pics and it looks like you had a better luck with the resort photographer than I did. Thank goodness :)

Anyways it was such a pleasure meeting you and your hubby - Congrats again!

Cheers,

Myen

OMG! I'm a zoombie.... still in denial. I return to work on Tuesday and I'm already depressed. I'm having such a hard time adjusting, even to the basics like cooking. After a 10 day vacation, reality sucks!! LOL. I want to go back to JA!!!

I'm with you... I miss the Jamaican corner at the buffet too. One night they replaced the Jamaican corner with Asian cuisine. My DH almost had a stroke! He even requested a Jamaican breakfast at the Grand before we left because they didn't have a specialized corner over there.

I wonder if we had the same resort photographer. My guy was tall, slim & dark-skinned. It seems to be such a big difference in the quality. My pics weren't the best, but we were able to easily pick 12 photos from the group.

It was great meeting you guys too. We watched the Dunns River DVD last night (still in denial) and saw your family. The DVD is a little cheesy, but it's good for reminiscing and some laughs.

Hi Ladies,

I have a few questions...

briscoe, I know you mentioned it was pretty hot at the steakhouse restaurant. If I were to choose one of the alternative indoor restaurants, do you know if there is enough space inside to have a dance floor set-up? Also, do you know if there area is pretty private and away from the other guests dining?

I have been thinking of excursions for my guests, do any of you know if the Iberostar has a catamaran available to do a booze cruise?

What a beautiful set up!! I was asking Nicole & Loreto for a set up not on beach for a larger group (40 right now and growing) but she said it wasn't possible. Now they know it is possible and looks amazing!! smile29.gif
