I didn't want to bring you into all of this. And I hope that everything that I have posted about the 'other girl' has been correct...if not feel free to correct anything stated. I tried very hard to get my many many many dates correct.

I wasn't aware your shoot was free also. I do hope this is a fluke and can be fixed.

Just coming from a photographers stand point on this, Mesita getting her book in 10 days is quite ridiculous! AWESOME for her, but pratically unheard of. I don't even promise proofs of the photos in less than 14 days... especially BD pictures which take FOREVER to edit.

If she is indeed getting her book, which I hope you do BTW, but if she is, I'm going to guess that he had to pay some crazy rush delivery and processing fees to get it done. Your book, which was ordered the 27th... so 7 business days ago... probably isn't even done printing yet!

I would say your book will probably be here by the end of the week, maybe next week.

As for the 30 prints, for a portfolio shoot, that actually sounds about right.

Piggybacking on Trisha's comment, I will say that the album that I got which was included in my session, was only 20 shots. If I wanted more than that, I had to pay extra. Since I knew that I wanted a more comprehensive album, I made another album myself.
With the album from my photog, I think I submitted the pictures that I picked out around Mother's Day & I didn't get the album at my door until the end of May. So thats like a 2 week turnaround.

Like Desiree mentioned, I also think that it matters as to the type of album this is. Did he specify the type of album that you'd receive? Is it an album that has the actual pictures on the pages (I don't know the professional name for it), or is it an album like the one you'd usually get if you made it online using Publisher, Shutterfly or Snapfish?
For instance, I did not expect this but the album that I got from my photographer was one where the prints were actually on the pages. Like they were the actual print.

In any event, I know with the online site that I used, it took about 2-3 days to process the order & then it took about 4-5 days to ship depending on whether you use Express shipping or normal delivery. So if he's using some type of online company I guess the album could be done in a short time frame.

My only advice is along the lines of what Desiree asked you. If he were'nt responding to my emails or phone calls, I'd go to his studio/unfinished basement, during business hours & try to get it resolved.

I do hope that this gets resolved for you.

But I did a total of 6 hours of shooting. I was hoping for at least double the 31 that I was shown.

As far as the turnaround period I have no problem waiting it, just a matter of him not even making an effort to contact me back reguarding anything after the 27th and he HAS been in contact with the other bride. You can not favor one over the other if they were given the same services...free shoot/free book. If he rushed hers....that is fine, but at least give me the heads up as to what is going on...don't just leave me out there wondering. KWIM?

I've just been reading this for the last few days and taking it in. If you have indeed called and never heard back from him I think the only thing you can do is go to his studio. I was thinking what trish said w/ it being ridiculous that you could get your books that quick. Other members have waited months. I know you told him you wanted it soon and he said ok but if it isn't in writing its just a he said she said.

I don't think you really have anything you could take to small claims and get something from him.

I've been waiting for Mesita to jump in as I remember her saying on the other thread that she had booked him too. When was the last time either of you have talked to him?

Maybe you should lay off him a little. people don't want to deal w/ someone who is going to jump on them. I don't know if you've left him messages but if you have and you've come across really worked up that could make him not want to deal w/ you.

I know last time you got really worked up he was away on family emergency and felt horrible when he did reply. i personally don't think 1 month from your shoot is a long time to have to wait for prints and a book. Especially since it was done for free.

What kind of book are you getting? Did he tell you a specific time frame of when to receive it?

trust me I'm a HUGE bitch and i'm the first to jump on someone when they deserve it. Although I really honestly think the best thing is to try and be nice and understanding. Call him again, leave a nice message, a really nice message, explaining you were really hoping to have your book soon and were just wondering if he could give you a time frame of when you should be expecting it. thanks! thats it, don't go deep into detail of you said i said it turns people away.

the only other thing is patience. Don't get all worked up, you've used Mesita alot as an example, and it sounds like she hasn't heard much from him and the only real difference is she has everything in writing, and we don't even know if he'll really follow through w/ her either

It isn't like I am hounding him about it. I stopped emailing him because he wasn't emailing me back. He said I would get my book in 7 days. So....I guess I will just wait it out. I am thnakful for everybody that has given their input.

Also, he hasn't said what kind of book it will be.

Let this be a lesson to you, and others, to get IN WRITING what the expectations are. Otherwise, you don't have a leg to stand on.

I understand that you are frustrated b/c you are excited to get your book and hoped to have it for your FI by now ... but you also didn't do your due diligence in the beginning.

And since it was free, I think you especially need to chill. Enough time hasn't passed for you to be freaking out.

i have been biting my tongue but had to respond.

is this the same photog that you found on CL offering free boudoir services? a random guy asking women to pose semi-nude for them for FREE? that right there is a huge red flag.

then when you get there, no contract, no list of what you can expect to get in terms of number of shots/proof/turnaround time?

red flag #2

boudoir, wedding, newborn, etc. shots are so important that why risk using someone like this.

in this case, you really get what you pay for.
