Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks Ladies...

We went to the GBP in 2007 and it's were we got engaged...so it's a bit sentimental for us!! We stayed in the Coba section and were quite pleased...so that is where we booked into this time as well.

From reading all of the posts...what I'm hoping for is...

- a wedding in the Tulum gazebo

- dinner at any one of the ala cartes (any recommendations?)

- poolside reception with drinks and DJ

Does anyone know which pool they use at Coba? I am hoping for the NON-activity pool because that is "where" we got engaged.

Now I just need to try to bump the actual wedding from 2 until 3pm (depending on the minister)...and find a DJ (Bob is booked - boo!)...and find a photographer!!

And...last but not least...hope for beautiful weather!!

I would think it WOULDN'T be the activity pool. I know they don't use that one for the Tulum and Akumal weddings... so I would assume it'd be the same for Coba. But quite honestly, I've never seen a poolside reception at the Coba, so I can't really help.

My wedding was scheduled for 1pm and was moved to 3pm the week before we arrived... but really, 2 would be fine.

DJ, I used the resort DJ and I loved him. Worked out just perfect and I didn't have to deal with outside vendors.

Photographer, well, that's all based on your personal style and budget, so I wish you best of luck! :) But, as I did with my wedding, I would HIGHLY recommend flying someone in. It was so awesome to have three days of coverage for our event. The pictures are priceless and it ends up to be very cost effective.

Beautiful weather... don't worry, it could be the worst storm in the entire world, but when you marry the man of your dreams, it'll feel like the sun has never shone so brightly.

Hey Emme,

You plan sounds exactly like what we were hoping for. We have been confirmed for the gazebo around 4:30ish? Depending on the minister. Apparently we could have a reception over there too. A friend of my fiance is also having her wedding there a few months before we are and she went for a site visit in Feb. and said she saw a reception happening there. So it sounds as though whatever you want to have (whatever pool) you could have it. For a cost I'm sure!

Good luck planning!

P.S. My fiance wanted to point out you are getting married on his birthday! HA!

Thanks tlseege...I've read plenty of your tips and they're always helpful. Please fill me in on a bit more DJ information if you can. How is his music selection? Should we contact him before we go? Should we bring a CD of our own? Is he open to requests? Geez...maybe he's already booked? I better check that out right away.

Hi Jules...we'll have to keep each other posted on all of our plans...and hopefully be able to help each other out. Is your fiance's friend also on this website too? It sure is full of so much information!! Happy Birthday to your fiance...let him know its our gift to him...heehee...

Good Luck Heidi!!

I'll be looking forward to reading your review even if it isn't the Bahia! I'll do a really long "sun dance" for you. (We are supposed to be getting snow in Winnipeg so it will do double duty!!)
